Sacha should put this behind him and learn from the experience. He has immense potential and should play a major part in the next world cup. Deserves the support of all followers.
You are quite right, Roland. We all make mistakes and the key is to learn from them. As someone once said to me, a setback is a setup for a comeback! Let's see how the young man goes from here.
The main fact here that everyone seems to miss, is that Sacha didn't got enough game-time at 10 with the Stormers. So when Rassie backed him, he knew it was his opportunity to showcase his talent. That's why he did as you've suggested. I also think, that if he got more opportunities at 10 for the Stormers, he would've played less games and Manie Libbok a game or two more for the Bokke this year. Rassie will never say it, but he actually wanted to teach Manie and Dobson a lesson. If they were to stand in a talented prospect's way of development by selfishness, then he will just bypass them. That's the reason I think Sacha made the mistake of hiding the injury. Though Rassie was very disappointed by Sacha's "error" , he already forgiven Sacha because he understand why the young man made that mistake. But Sacha must keep in mind that Rassie will not tolerate another dishonest action like that, irrespective of his considerable talent.
That's a very nice way of putting it. I agree. Rassie himself no doubt also played through the pain barrier as a player and would have explained this to Sacha. I don't think we have to worry about this going forward. For what it's worth I would also select Sacha ahead of Manie at flyhalf.
Glad he is back and yes if I was in his shoes I would have played..Juba played with a broken hand during the 95 WC so this I nothing new..Very happy to see SFM back and looking forwards to see what he is going to add to the Springboks...Will he be the one to finally get Tony ball to click 100%?Peter I only have one problem with him..he plays for the wrong blue team..😂
Thanks Sakabula! Yes, who can forget Juba? That was heroic stuff. These guys are warriors, I tell you. I am a big fan of Sacha and I'm very excited to see how he executes Tony Ball! I of course would say he plays for the perfect blue team!
Man, you are always a voice of reason. Have you tried a hand in player psychology. You can relieve Rassie of this part of his job because you are bang on in your analysis. Your comparison with the Joost incident in 1999 is also spot on, in no way would I suggest Joost (the captain) will step down from that match but you are spot on. In fact even in 1995, he had a niggle as well after the French match in the build up to the final and he kept it hush as well, but he remains a great player because of his grit and I suspect that is what Sasha was was thinking , that its a "niggle" not serious
Haha, thank you so much bud. I certainly didn't study psychology so not sure I could get away with it! But I do have a pretty good habit of listening well to what players, coaches, psychologists and other experts tell me.
You can never criticize a player for wanting to play. You can never criticize a player for having courage. Give the young man a chance. Sasha is a really special player. He could become an all time great
@@mikespencer4922 I'm going to have to ask you to give me some examples of these injuries, Mike. Except for this knee injury that has kept him out for around three months I can't recall anything else.
Ja, I reckon it's all a storm in a teacup, guys playing while carrying injuries is nothing new. Hell, Rassie had no problem with Willie carrying a blatantly obvious injury at the 2019 world cup, in fact he was literally the one coercing him to stick it out, so even Rassie has very little room to be casting stones at SFM for attempting to ride it out 🤘
I think most of see it that way too, Adam. But there were a very vocal (minority I'm sure) about how Sacha was stupid, irresponsible etc. As we know on social media, every one is perfect and no one has ever made a mistake.
I agree with everything you said...but remember at the 2019 world cup Willie was an integral player to the way the Boks played and defended, organized the back 3 so well, key to our rush defense and pendulum defense. There was no way Rassie was gonna play Gelant in the semifinal against Wales way too risky. Whereas with Sacha recently, there were reliable replacements in Pollard and Libbok
Yes, we are of course now comparing an older, more experienced player with an exciting youngster. Your assessment of Willie is spot on. Many people don't see those things that he does. Pollard still our number one I think but a fully-fit Sacha back to where he was before the injury is ahead of Manie for me.
If you critisise Rassies disision why do you ask us if we agree. Ask Rassie why he did what he did and you will find out that you is not as cleaver as you think.
Glad Sacha is back😊
Live your Dreams Mr Feinberg jnr.
Yes, so am I!
Agree with your reasoning because your exact explanation was in my head from the start.
Cheers Ray! Love it.

So do I! Siya, Eben and PSDT are my current favourites. Once they retire I suspect Sacha is going to be my favourite.
I am very very very glad..good kid..good player🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh yes! I think it was very clear in this video that I feel the same way you do.
