2 things . 1. the movie the room is tommys movie so therfor he invented the entire thing 2. tommy was not even officially invited on the stage. you can see him start running up there BEFORE he is mentioned by james and at that point james realizes they have a situation on their hands (tommy rushing the stage)

That was touching to have Tommy join him onstage. Yes, cutting him off was a tad rude, but James won the award. It was his moment. He has done nothing but praise Tommy this entire experience, was the first person he thanked, and let him join him onstage. Most of us who watched the film have heard Tommy speak before, and who knows how long he would've droned on. James had to make sure everybody involved got thanked, so that's why he cut Tommy off. Then again, maybe he promised Tommy he'd get to speak, in which he betrayed him, he didn't keep his promise, he tricked me, and Tommy don't care anymore.

James Franco is that kind of artist that's so hungry he can't stop working. He's directed and starred in literally dozens of movies nobody has ever watched. His did an interview with Marc Maron recently where he voiced his frustration at not being pleased with his success. A lesser man would have been corrupted by it, he would have turned into a junkie, fathered kids left and right with different partners and become a lowlife. But he didn't. He keeps trying to reach that next level that probably doesn't exist, and good for him.
