Easy clean-up tip. I always spray the bottom pan and racks with non-stick cooking spray. Hot water and soap on a sponge and wipes right off. No scrubbing.
I use my NuWave for whole turkey and chicken, and it works beautifully! The 16 lb turkey is a tight fit even with the extender, but it does not interfere with the cooking. Yes, it is always a good idea to increase the cooking time by maybe 5-10 minutes to be sure the dark meat is completely done without drying out the breast meat.
Cooking With Jack Show sir you are amazing! I have wanted to see this guy in a real scenario for a while. The reason I didn't just look it up on UA-cam is really that I forgot about it till I saw this vid. Thanks for the vid I hope I get to see you make jerky out if it soon! If it does meats and fish well then I might actually get one thanks to your review of it.
I have the NuWave oven. With a large bird like a turkey, it's not possible to turn it on its side. There would be no room for proper cooking. There has to be space between the food and the heating element; otherwise it will burn.
Yes that was one of the main complaints Steve. Now they are offering them with the indestructible domes or you can buy them after market. Supposedly it was the dishwasher that was causing the cracks
@@cookingwithjackshow Try a fully thawed bird next time. I'm actually quite surprised that these still have a buying market, especially with all the airfryers out there now.
The breast meat was at 165. It was fully cooked. The thigh area (as I showed in the video) didn't fully cook. That is why I said to put your thermometer at take the thigh to 180 if you use this device. The uneven cooking comes from the heat being so close to the breast meat and further from the thigh. A few minutes more will finish the job.
The color of cooked poultry is not always a sure sign of its safety. Only by using a food thermometer can one accurately determine that poultry has reached a safe minimum internal temperature of 165 °F throughout the product. Turkey can remain pink even after cooking to a safe minimum internal temperature of 165 °F. The meat of smoked turkey is always pink. And he said the breast meat was at 165.
This is a great product! I had mine for a bout 3 years when I had to throw it away because of human error. The only thing I didn't like about it is that the top dome where the head attaches began to warp after about 2 years and be replaced. Used it every single day tho.
I bought one at a thrift store for $30. It makes the best french fries and Sweet potato fries. The only drawback is the amount of food you can put in that smalll space. It is an awesome toaster oven too.
I have the nuwave and use it at least 3 times a week it is awesome. On that Turkey if you would of just put some aluminium foil over the breast towards the end that would of kept it from over browning. I just did a 6 pound whole chicken tonight came out awesome. Everything comes out really juicy. I've done pork tenderloins, beef, bacon brats, burgers even made Brownies. It is truly a "kitchen gadget" that really works.
It would have been perfect if you had done 1 hour 15 minutes on top, 1 hour 15 minutes on bottom with 30 minutes on each side. These cookers are amazing!
I agree w most of the people. Raw turkey too much pink meat. I have one also and I found out put a piece of aluminum foil on top w toothpicks to keep it in place. I changed the turn over time quarter time. Basting w butter and Lawry season. Cooking 15 min per pound.
I thought about buying one last year but then I got a gas stove. Have a dehydrator and a seal a meal (I would like to get a new one). My dehydrator is sixteen years old. I dry most of my vegetables, meat, combination leftover meals and am doing pinto beans (mashed and whole) right now. I have always wanted to see one work without the hype. Thanks Jack.
We put a thawed whole chicken in ours and cooked it in 70 minutes! It had crispy brown skin and cam out very juicy. My mother-in-law cooked lamb in it and that too came out great.
I have one and i use it for reheating pizza and making corn dogs, pizza rolls basically anything you can out in the oven it cooks way faster. but the reheat button is perfect for cold pizza. makes it taste like you just ordered it
It seems that if you used a smaller bird, and a thawed one it would work even better. I think the size of the bird hindered the heat from getting down and around the bottom of the bird. Hence why the sides were pale, and the thigh meat not done. I mean you loved it with a frozen bird. Imagine one thawed and seasoned before hand.
We have a much older unit that is about 30 years old that has a glass Pyrex instead of plastic. It uses much less electricity than the oven. If your oven is not convection, I recommend this cooker. But our range has convection, so we don't drag out the counter top gadget, since we don't have a lot of counter space to store it. A good test could be a tough pot roast, like brisket corn beef, will it come out nice and tender?.
I received this as a gift. I used it for about 3-4 months. Now it just sits in the closet. Much easier to use the oven. If in a pinch, I will use to thaw out a chicken/turkey, then use oven to finish. Maybe, I will give this a second chance. Loving the reviews and videos.
I owned my Nuwave for 2 years and its the best ever...I believe Jack was not familiar with the etiquette or power of cooking with this unit...little tricks of the trade which comes with trial and error. I use this unit for every cooking need except to boil water. C+ Jack!
I got my stepmother one of these a few years back. She made the most delicious turkey I have ever had with it! Here's a tip though: put a piece of aluminum foil over the top of the turkey once it's good & brown. The foil will keep the breast meat from getting overcooked while at the same time extending the cooking time enough so that the other parts of the bird also get properly cooked through. I know that air fryers and 'smart' pressure cookers -- both of which are awesome -- have somewhat stolen the show here recently, but these NuWave Infrared Ovens still work everybit as well as they did when they first came out!
the big problem people are having with the Nu Wave is the dome isnt' very durable. many are complaining that is cracks and the dome is $60! its a good products but it needs to be more durable
Makes wonderful french fries when using frozen ff. Turn the rack so pan of ff sits high next to the top unit, spray pan that you put ff in with pam, set cooktime to 14 minutes and start. No grease but perfect browned ff. Also, the if you turn the head cooking unit once you put on top, it stays locked in place.
I had one and my husband did not want it and I gave it away, now he wants another one. When we would remove the lid we would not take off the motor part, I remove the whole top piece including the top piece (plastic). I had the expander ring, the pizza part, I love it and will be reordering. Try cooking a whole boneless porkloin it taste outstanding.
+Cooking With Jack Show Jack, the cooking unit isn't supposed to be removed when you open the NuWave Oven. There is a stand to rest the entire top portion of the unit including the top dome cover. You keep the cooking unit locked on the dome and just pick the hole thing up and lean it on the rack that is hooked on the side of the base. That way when you are finished turning the food you just pick up the dome and heating unit and place the entire unit back in place without having to re-assemble it. Plus you don't have to find room on the counter to place the heating unit and the dome. Try it, I'm sure you'll find it much better to use and easier as well. Also, you might want to flip the shorter rack upside-down to make a little more room at the top of the oven to help prevent the burning of the turkey breast, I agree with you on the thermometer placement and tenting 1/3 of the way through is probably the best. as you noted
I will tell you what, us Brits across the pond are usually one step behind our US friends as regards to gadgets. But I've got to admit I've enjoyed your product reviews and I've watched several and let's be honest you've saved me hard earned cash as I was considering the magic bullet. I'm looking forward to many more videos all good stuff.
My tip would be to rotate the bird while cooking so it gets even browning. Sounds like a pain, but worth it. I'd like to have one. My Mom has one, but it's not working. Very nice review Jack. TFS! Take care :)
I've had one of these for approximately three years, when they first came out, love it. I don't use the extended ring to do the ff and chicken nuggets. Easy to take care of and hasn't broken or cracked. It might crack if you threw it on the floor. The top heater unit locks on to the dome easily with just a twist to the left.
saw another video that was a thawed turkey, she cooked it 4 hours total flipped it after two, topped it with butter and it was perfect other then a little browning on top
I got one of these back in Dec and I’ve used it almost everyday!! It’s worth the purchase!! My dad has been using it for 20 damn years!! It is the absolute truth.
I know! I had a spare extender ring so I drilled holes in it so I didnt have to tent the dome, risking knocking it over. I use that for baking and dehydrating, just did dehydrated mushrooms and made mushroom powder! Granted this isnt going to take the place of my L'equip dehydrator but it's great for small batches!
***** Well if that's all you got, I'll give another suggestion. I found these 4 dollar 2 inch collapsible racks on amazon, and you can buy another extender ring, drill the holes in that one with a bunch of racks and wont have to buy another dehydrator. May not be as elegant as a Excaliber or L'equip, but will definitely save you a bunch of money and space.
What about the neck and giblets in the cavity? Turkeys are stuffed with that and usually in a bag or paper wrapped.....Did you take them out after you could get to them or did you find a turkey without all of that? Thanks
I am a single man and I use my Nuwave most of the time. I get chicken, season it up and put it in the freezer. When I get home I pop it in the nuwave and in 15 minutes I have the most delicious and most chicken you will ever eat. I really love the set it and forget part. I have made it for friends and they all rant and rave about how juicy is it. I do burgers and fish as well. My electricity bill has gone down about 50 per month since I stopped using my oven. I highly recommend it.
I'm in Canada. I thought I'd take a look at these in Canadian stores. Jack, did you say you paid $99.00 for yours? It was $259.00!!! here. So for that money I'd buy a nice convection oven that doesn't take up half my counter space...another reason I would not buy it, it's huge! Thx for the information and the other trials.
hey jack just a tip with your turkey to stop it from browning to much is brown to your desired result then put a sheet of aluminium foil over the breast.
I cook a whole defrosted turkey or chicken (rubbed in oil or melted butter with garlic salt or herbs) in the NuWave- but the secret is to fill the bottom pan with water and, after cooking, let it sit 30 mins or more in the machine before taking it out to eat. It’s so moist and tender it tastes like heaven. Also I take it apart and put it all the the dishwasher- super easy clean-up.
i am so happy you did this video jack i wanted to buy one but was skeptical, I want one because i can not fit everything in my little toaster over like i told you before lol thanks for the video hopefully i can save up and buy one soon!! :) great review as always
are you still intending to do another review this year ? I am asking because I just got it for Christmas and am curious about baking with it. I cannot seem to find any videos on it. thank you for taking the time to do this video . I know I am watching it a year later but, it good none the less. Happy Holidays.
I cooked a turkey in my nuwave oven, but i thaw the turkey and i injected with butter rosemary thyme spices but the bottom line it was cook all over the whole turkey oh and i stuffed my bird. I just like to tell you that you have to put you have to bend the wings underneath turkey then once you see it get a bit brown on the skin you put that plastic paper to use cookies for when you make cookies . So your turkey will not get burnt then you keep on cooking. I had my nuwave oven without the dome ever Breaking it's about 9 years old and i use it almost every day. I paid in Canadian dollars $40 it's a pro nuwave oven. Well the turkey came out awesome and not dry anyway on the turkey. Oh yeah just to let you know you leave the plastic on the turkey for about 35 to 40 minutes you just don't take it off it's the turkey not a chicken so once you have left the plastic then you start to take the plastic off and clean inside the turkey and it will not be to cold to work and clean the turkey.
I like this review. Not perfect results, but that is why it was good. Showed the reality, so we can learn how to improve upon. Good job and cool product. Would like to see a part 2 where you make more items. You listed a lot of uses off the box.
What donyou think about the big boss halogrn oven? It uses same tech as nuwave, but it has a self-clewn function. Love your videos! Cdn you do a comparison video? Nuwave did a sponsored video with these products. So it wws obviously biased. The polycarbonate dome is supposed to be 200x stronger than glass, but mdny revieews complain the dome cracks over time. Love your honesty man! ✋
Im glad that you put the nu wave to the test...pretty convincing but not so. Can you try it on a defrozen bird. I was thinking on purchasing one . Thank you and season greetings.
Will you share the title and author of the cheesecake book you have displayed behind you in the background, please? I can't quite make out the title. Thanks.
You 'The BOMB' Jack! We NEVER believed this product was anything more than pure hype until now. We are impressed! You did a better job than they do on the NuWave infomercial. However, we trust You. Always a pleasure ... Fixin' to go get one from Walmart today! >>> Your Mississippi Delta Fan Club
Jack, great video, awesome job on the review. There's a new Wolfgang puck pressure oven that's come out and was wondering if you were going to do a review on it?
This looks a lot like the Jet Stream oven and it looks to be basically the same design. You did not show how to clean this NuWave . So, I am not sure as to what all is involved. I had bought the Jet stream oven. And it worked very well, better than what I expected. However there was no way to clean the head unit. All that hot air blowing around, pushes the water and grease back into the head unit. And after awhile it covered the circuit board. And then it shorts out. I do not know anything about the NuWave. But the Jet stream I could not get any replacement parts to fix the unit. I should mention I used the unit, and rarely used the stove. And it lasted about 3 months. I should also mention that I happened upon a guy who sold them. I bought three of them. And they all quit around 3 months. I would be interested in knowing IF anyone has used one of these on a regular basis for any length of time has had any problems with the unit.
I've had my Nuwave for 7 years and never had any problems with it. The grease is the hardest part to clean up but if you soak the parts in Dawn it isn't so bad. As for the top, I dip a washcloth into the Dawn and water, wring it out and wipe it clean. It takes a few times to get the grease off but it's worth it.
Cool, thanks a ton Jack! I have been staring at these things and all their variations since they first came out on infomercials. I'm sure I can find one secondhand somewhere for dirt cheap. This would be great for cooking in the summer when it's too hot to turn on a real oven.
Yeah, while I was waiting for my order of the Pro Plus to come in, was talking to my sister in OH and she told me she had one sitting there that she got at the Salvation Army for $10! She was coming to MI that day so she dropped it off to me to play with.
I have second hand old school one “flavorewave (still working on recipes and figuring it out🤔”) and can’t live without it. Love it! Never did a roast in it tho. Just got an air fryer” type thing, still working on recipes but I’m a little hesitant with the air release haha
Also, chicken nuggets are great cooked the same way as french fries. I put half french fries and half chicken nuggets in the pan and grandson loves them.
I was watching in cooking a duck and they said that if you cut the opening at the thigh and separate it about half way through the thigh and leg will be done when the breast is. I would think it would work with the turkey too. What do you think?
I think that you not only should put the thermometer in the thigh, but perhaps some foil coverage for the top is wise . A few Thanksgivings ago, I cooked my turkey upside-down, then flipped it back to finish right-side-up. Was a bit 'flat chested'. o/ x-p
Very interesting! Maybe go a little over half way before flipping?? Would love to see if this can get a nice crispy fry without oil..... :) I look forward to your other experiments with this!
is this thing safe? no radio active waves or something creepy? thinking of buying it. and if some parts are from plastic how the heck its not melting O_O
Bob Donald I use my microwave primarily for time (as in timing with the clock) it's one of the largest most useless pieces of equipment in my kitchen, sometimes I use it for reheating. I don't understand why you would replace this with your conduction oven as this doesn't seem to move the hot air around which is why the legs of the turkey didn't get cooked.
Sadochrist I havent tried a turkey yet, but everything else like steaks, frozen chicken, pork chops, etc come out perfect. I use it over the oven for a couple of reasons : it cooks things faster and from frozen without heating the house up 2: I'm currently disabled and it is easier for me to pull up a stool and do everything on the countertop from start to finish than it is for me to use a walker (or sometimes wheelchair) to navigate around a small kitchen. Not to mention that cleanup is a breeze. While you may not use a microwave millions of others rely on it for more than just using it as a kitchen timer. As far as the leg, Jack admitted that it may be his fault. I am on a FB page where hundreds of people cooked turkeys this year in it to great success. I'm not trying to start a flame war here, just letting people know the other side of your views on it. Just saying it works and for 100 bux it replaced my $1000+ oven and saves quite a bit on energy. It may not be for everyone but it definitely is NOT a niche product in the right hands.
Bob Donald And as far as reheating vs a Microwave, food comes out great as opposed to dried out. Mine has a reheat button on it (the pro plus) and everytime, the 4 minutes it takes food comes out perfect, especially pizza. Put it on the rack and crust is crispy
Bob Donald You are currently disabled? I hope it is only temporary then. I guess such a device would be easier for you but I'd also like to say that there are convection versions of such devices, I personally don't see the point in them but if you like this product you might like the convection version more as it's able to heat things more evenly.
Bob Donald Well that's the problem, as you said, you've sent more gadgets to Goodwill. This is the problem with all these kitchen gadgets, you can usually just do all the things you want without kitchen gadgets, just today I was thinking about how I could use fresh garlic without buying a garlic press, all you need is salt to grate it into a paste.
For me the breasts were not done. Even "a little pink" is something I will not take a chance on. It seems like an excellent product and I may even give it a chance!
Cooking With Jack Show nah entire bird needed 20mins or more the fact the thigh meat was still bloody shows that, I know your not a chef but doesn't take a genius to work out that it Was still bleeding and the breast wasn't fully cooked either. Temp probe should go in the meat between thigh and carcus, needs to be at 75+degrees centregrade
Yes, it is always a good idea to increase the cooking time by maybe 5-10 minutes to be sure the dark meat is completely done without drying out the breast meat.
here is an idea, instead of turning it completly over, why not flip it on the side every hour instead. Maybe that fixes the leg meat issue?
FilmNerden I guarantee your right. That is what I will do next time. Maybe a redo video

CarlaK_77 breast meat was 165.
Thermometer don't lie & it ran clear juice, NOT any red blood
ozman 1966 thermometers can lie when there’s bone involved.
Like jack said in the video, you just gotta check it all like the thighs

No not this one happy to give praise where it's due. I think many Brits are too reserved and can't quite get past that barrier 👍
A time lapse would have been awesome! This was a great video :)
what part of that cooked?
always wanted one of those ovens glad I didn't waste my money great video ty for doing it

Cooking With Jack Show there's a good video on here about it where Jennifer does beef jerky. I'm gonna try it with my jerky press.
Love my 2 NuWave Ovens!! I have cooked several turkeys and other meats & meals, meat is always juicy & tender so delicious!!!
Yeah I love my nu Wave Oven !!!! ; ) I had two of them so far... they will be needed on Mars Solar Mission lol
What about the neck and giblets in the cavity? Turkeys are stuffed with that and usually in a bag or paper wrapped.....Did you take them out after you could get to them or did you find a turkey without all of that? Thanks
Can't wait to see what else it can do.
I highly recommend it.

what you should do is wrap the breast with bacon. adds extra flavor, breast meat will not dry out, and the breast meat will not burn

Thx for the information and the other trials.
the new kitchen looks nice I kinda miss the old kitchen though but carry on.
hey jack just a tip with your turkey to stop it from browning to much is brown to your desired result then put a sheet of aluminium foil over the breast.
Received one this Xmas, and it didnt come with an extender ring. Where can I buy one. Thank you
I cook a whole defrosted turkey or chicken (rubbed in oil or melted butter with garlic salt or herbs) in the NuWave- but the secret is to fill the bottom pan with water and, after cooking, let it sit 30 mins or more in the machine before taking it out to eat.
Luv your reviews Jack... Keep em coming
I'm doing my first turkey its 8 1/2 lbs. Hopefully it turns out like yours. I've done beef jerky its awesome and a fraction of.the cost of buying it
I have had one of them for years. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
Wow that is superior intelligence. My mother died a long time ago.
The most requested product review of the last 3 years. I finally did it. Nuwave Now ua-cam.com/video/_8-crxYOfgA/v-deo.html

So Jack do you perfer frying the turkey or using the Nuwave oven?
***** deep fryingis better for me
are you still intending to do another review this year ? I am asking because I just got it for Christmas and am curious about baking with it. I cannot seem to find any videos on it. thank you for taking the time to do this video . I know I am watching it a year later but, it good none the less. Happy Holidays.
i feel like jack cooks with off-branded food
I've done whole chickens in about 80 minutes, perfect every time
Same
What donyou think about the big boss halogrn oven? It uses same tech as nuwave, but it has a self-clewn function. Love your videos! Cdn you do a comparison video? Nuwave did a sponsored video with these products. So it wws obviously biased. The polycarbonate dome is supposed to be 200x stronger than glass, but mdny revieews complain the dome cracks over time. Love your honesty man! ✋
"Look at how wet it is!"
thats what he said
lol
I think you have tender and raw confused
Im glad that you put the nu wave to the test...pretty convincing but not so. Can you try it on a defrozen bird. I was thinking on purchasing one . Thank you and season greetings.
Will you share the title and author of the cheesecake book you have displayed behind you in the background, please? I can't quite make out the title. Thanks.
Thank you for doing this video!!!!! Ive always wanted to see if this worked for real.
Should you take the wrapping off
Looks like it worked pretty good!
Big fan of your channel Jack. Lots of good recipes and reviews on products and foods.
I have a Nuwave and love the thing, for easier cleanup line the bottom tray with tinfoil.
Yeah but is it cocked you should have rubbed a little butter on the sides. it looks very good.
Thank you for doing this video! Thoroughly impressed!!
Was a bit 'flat chested'. o/ x-p
You are missing the extender ring. If this is the pro plus the power dome should have a yellow tint to it.
When it comes to big frozen meats I would just let them thaw out before cooking.
Very interesting! Maybe go a little over half way before flipping?? Would love to see if this can get a nice crispy fry without oil..... :) I look forward to your other experiments with this!
I clean mine in the dishwasher, except the motor, comes out nice.
7 years late to this review but I would turn the turkey over from side to side at some point in the cooking other then that looks good and juicy
is this thing safe? no radio active waves or something creepy? thinking of buying it. and if some parts are from plastic how the heck its not melting O_O
Not done enough. Maybe a much smaller one and a little more time. Just my opinion. I have one and it cooks a chicken nicely.
A timelapse would be cool if you do another video with it, since you can see through to the turkey. :)
Thanks for the review Jack, it appeared genuine and no fluff. A little thawing could help with the cooking too, but from frozen is a WOW factor! ♥
"Flip the bird"... Lmao
I'd rather use the oven though. These types of devices seem to be more of a niche that don't really serve any purpose, like that bacon wave thing.
Bob Donald
I use my microwave primarily for time (as in timing with the clock) it's one of the largest most useless pieces of equipment in my kitchen, sometimes I use it for reheating.
Bob Donald
You are currently disabled? I hope it is only temporary then. I guess such a device would be easier for you but I'd also like to say that there are convection versions of such devices, I personally don't see the point in them but if you like this product you might like the convection version more as it's able to heat things more evenly.
Bob Donald
Well that's the problem, as you said, you've sent more gadgets to Goodwill. This is the problem with all these kitchen gadgets, you can usually just do all the things you want without kitchen gadgets, just today I was thinking about how I could use fresh garlic without buying a garlic press, all you need is salt to grate it into a paste.
Do you still use the butterball turkey fryer? I was thinking of buying the newest model.
ravenclanx buy it. I still have mine and used it this year for Thanksgiving.
Was it cooked through? It was a bit pink ... Maybe the turkey was a bit too big?
He quite clearly says that everything was properly cooked except the thigh meat, which is where he should have stuck the temperature probe.
I think the breast meat had a tinge of pink to it also, but sometimes with Turkey you have a little pink, but not like those thighs.
For me the breasts were not done. Even "a little pink" is something I will not take a chance on. It seems like an excellent product and I may even give it a chance!
im100percentg thigh and leg needed more time. probably 5-10 minutes. I will take thigh temp to 180 next time
Cooking With Jack Show nah entire bird needed 20mins or more the fact the thigh meat was still bloody shows that, I know your not a chef but doesn't take a genius to work out that it Was still bleeding and the breast wasn't fully cooked either. Temp probe should go in the meat between thigh and carcus, needs to be at 75+degrees centregrade
i think it would be better if it was made of tempered glass than plastic, idk what do you think?
