    Hello
    First of all you should read the instructions as it will tell you what power rating microwave they used.
    All my microwave egg cookers say to add 1/2 teaspoon of water.
    You used a metal fork to mix the egg which will scratch the surface mking the egg more likely to stick
    Do not mix the yolk just burst it
    The popping means they were overcooked so I would try on 30 seconds next time and check then another 15 seconds at which point the should be cooked..
    I suspect it is because your microwave is higher rated and why you should always read the instructions first

    2. it tasted great
    3. college kids do not have pots and pans and some kitchens on vacation don't have stoves at all.

    I make eggs in the microwave all the time, 1 minute per egg. I always scramble and add a little extra milk, because I find the microwave dries out the eggs.
    I don't use one of those, as anything works, but I think the milk is good info for anyone who wants to try it (:

    If you ever worked in a plastic injection factory. You would know that you should never use plastic right out of the box.. or even baby bottles/nipples etc... you should wash with soap and water and rinse with hot water before using..

    I invested in one of these about 2 weeks ago and I'm glad I did. I'm always on the go so this helps me get my breakfast pronto! So two things I found out: 1. you can't do two eggs and pop it in for 2 minutes, doesn't work that way. The timing goes off when you put more than 1 egg in so it gets tricky. It's best to just do 1 egg at a time. And 2. (which I saw Jack struggle with a bit as well lol) the egg sticks to this thing. So I spray the container with some kind of cooking spray before I drop an egg in there. When it's done it slides right off. Hope this was helpful to anyone!

      If you add new little water to the eggs it helps it not stick. The water also helps it steam the eggs.

    I bought one of these for myself for work and ended up buying me another for home and then yet another one for a friend at work..I used mine at work almost every day..I would put just a tad bit of butter in it and then add my egg..sometimes I would bust the yolk and sometimes I wouldn't..I sometimes added crushed bacon and shredded cheese to the egg before cooking it..I love mine...I ended up losing my job of 7 1/2 years without warning as they had a huge lay off..I brought mine home and use it in my microwave all the time..one of the BEST things that I have EVER spent my money on...!!!

    Hi, Jack. I have this product and I personally loved it. Two things; first, I whip the eggs in a separate bowl. Two, I use some cooking spray in order to avoid the egg mixture sticking. Nice to meet you. Greetings from Puerto Rico.

    Wouldn't one important factor in making these is to have a microwave that has the same wattage as the one their test used? An 800 watt microwave on high will produce different results on a 1200 watt microwave for equal an equal amount of cooking time. I'm not criticizing you, I'm just putting it out there for others to consider.

    • @cookingwithjackshow
      @cookingwithjackshow  10 років тому +3

      Thaneii yes but you can't test for all microwaves of the world so you just use the microwave you have. If it doesn't cook in a minute then the claim is only partially right

      @MarkMadere1 7 років тому +3

      True, you can't test all microwaves. But you could state in the description below your video what wattage your microwave is so we have a starting point for ours. There is a label on the inside of mine that says 1000 watts. What does yours state?

    I scramble my eggs, add 1 table spoon of water, use non stick butter spray and it comes out round and not dried out. You can even make mini frittatas. I add 1/2 oz of cheese , dice or chop 1/2 oz. of desired cold cut. Season the way you like it. Depending on your microwave 1 minute. My microwave is pretty powerful. I set it at 90% power for 1 minute. They come out just fine. Most of As Seen On TV products for food have to be tested at home. Eventually you find out what works for you with the equipment you have.
    Love your videos Jack. Thanks for the content. Have tried some of your recipes. Chili came out great.

    Picked up a two-pack of these at the dollar store a couple years back. The worst I can say about it is that it is not non-stick in the slightest, though that might be because of how long I've had it. Besides that, it's always worked like a charm. Spray it up with nonstick spray, add one egg, some hot sauce and seasonings, a bit of bacon, maybe shredded cheese, mix it all up. Layer in sliced cheese, cook for a minute and a half, slap it on a toasted and buttered english muffin with some fresh deli meat. It's one of my go-to easy meals.

    I have been cooking eggs in microwave for years.
    Here’s how I do it.
    Break an egg in a cup and add 1 tsp water to the egg and scramble the egg and water in the cup.
    Then I take a microwave safe ramekin and add a few drops of olive oil or hemp seed oil and spread the oil around.
    Pour the egg and water into the oiled ramekin.
    Add bacon or ham to the Ramekin and add cheese
    Microwave on high for 90 seconds or so.
    The water steams the egg sandwich to perfection without the egg being rubbery.
    Works FANTASTIC!
    I got my Ceramic Ramekins At Goodwill for 99 cents each.

    I've been making these sandwiches for years to eat on my way to work. Just spray cereal bowl with pam and microwave for 70 seconds. No need to waste money on a special gadget or have something else take up cupboard space. Just make sure you COVER it, or else it will splatter egg everywhere. I use the same paper towel to heat up a couple of strips of pre-cooked bacon. For some reason, if you scramble the egg, instead of just breaking the yolk, it puffs up more,and it doesn't spatter.

    I wonder how the muffin and egg toaster works compared to this product? It's about the size of a toaster so it doesn't take up much room and you just have to plug it in to use it, no microwave needed. I find it interesting how products are made to make things quicker and easier and sometimes with college bound students in mind or just a busy household. Thanks for testing this product out for us to see how it works.

    I use a big coffee cup from the dollar store, put some cooking spray on the bottom, 2 whole eggs and just pinch the yolk and mix a little bit. make sure to cover it on the top else the yolk is going to explode. 1.15 in the microwave and perfectly cooked. Serve and wash your cup with warm water and a sponge immediately to keep it clean easily. Done this for my breakfast for the last 2 years.

    Not a bad idea but I like mine fried so I use a wide mouth canning jar ring. I do add a T of water and lid to steam the egg a bit but it's still fried, not poached. This of course is healthier than frying and it would be less mess so I should give it a try. I love making breakfast sandwiches bc you can put them in the fridge and they will be fine for days or freeze them if making a slew. Now I'm going to check out the Hamilton Beach breakfast sandwich maker. :o)

    Guys, it's th exact same thing as using a little bowl, adding the egg and a dash of milk. Beating the egg, and putting it in the microwave for 1 min and 30 seconds to 2 mins. The same shape, easier, and cheaper than going out and buying this product.

    So, use a cup? Every dormitory has a cup, and it would be more efficient. Less things to clean, less pollution, less steps, and little to no effort. Perhaps give alternatives to the products that you review, or review products that have more functionality than a cup? Dorm recipes would probably be appreciated as well. Teach them how to make a full meal with just the tools they have at hand.

    Hoping you'll see this and respond. I love your product reviews, they are honest. Sometimes, when you watch the infomercials or the product comparisons, they are so obviously biased. On the product comparisons, you know what product will win before the tester even tries it out. So frustrating, it's like the spoiler alert of all spoiler alerts. You don't do that or I haven't seen you do that and I've watched a good many.
    What I'd love to see you do is a comparison of the nutribullet rx and the nutri ninja with auto iq. I do have the nutri ninja pro and love it but I really did look very carrefully at the nutribullet rx because it will supposedly do soups. I ended up getting the nutri ninja pro because I found a good deal on one and truly do love it. Also, when I saw the nutribullet 900 and nutri ninja pro comparison, the nutri ninja seemed to do a better job. I didn't want to pay the price of the nutri ninja auto iq or the nutribullet rx. But I'm still thinking about that soup option. Just would love to see you do a comparison because I know it would be honest. My other worry about the nutribullet rx is that it is supposedly 1700 watts or therabout, and I thought circuits couldn't handle more than 1500 watts.
    I did watch your magic bullet review. LOL, hindsight is always 20-20. I'm not sure, but I think that's why when they came out with the nurtribullet classic, they switched from magic bullet to nutribullet. Magic bullet so did not live up to what it said it would do. I think the nutribullet and nutribullet 900 are much better.
    Hope you'll respond so I know if you are considering doing a review so I can watch for it.

    Not criticizing you Jack, but you shouldn't take what any box says or shows as the absolute truth. Of course it's going to mislead you that's what advertising does. You have made your show about doing nothing more than what is on the box or commercial, which is fair, but we viewers do not expect it to come out the way it's supposed or at least in the time it effort it claims. What you did here was fine, you showed us what it does and what the end product looked like. But you know if they showed what the end product really looks like on the box, they wouldn't sell very many.

    I have one of these but I don't really like it. Whenever I use it for a minute it does cook the egg, but it comes out incredibly rubbery and spongey. That makes it unpleasant to eat.
    To save cleaning a fork, I just use my finger to mix the yolk.

    • @ososuperpowers
      @ososuperpowers 10 років тому

      lol... you can just as easily clean a fork as you can your finger. Not only that but why would you want to put your dirty finger in your and someone elses food? If you wash your hands before and after it would be 50% more efficient just to use a fork to start with. hehe

    • @Kugaine
      @Kugaine 10 років тому +2

      ososuperpowers
      Cleaning a fork is not as easy as cleaning your hand, and obviously you should wash your hand before handling any type of food. For this case I use my finger to mix the yolk because I'm only serving myself. I would never make eggs for someone else using a microwave. Assuming that I would use the same technique when making eggs for multiple people was a poor assumption. You could easily say the same thing about people using their bare hands when they make bread. You can't assume everyone is dirty.
      If I use a plastic fork (which a lot of people do) I would be wasting a fork just to mix an egg. I don't use my entire hand by the way, I wash it, mix very quickly with my index finger, then quickly wash it again.

    • @ososuperpowers
      @ososuperpowers 10 років тому

      ***** lol... I didn't assume you were dirty; I was saying that in jest, hence the smiley and lol. Anyway if you did use your finger you would need to wash your hands, not just a finger, afterwards so just as easily wash a fork. I don't use plastic forks at all because I try to cut back on things I believe to be bad for the environment.
      I have also tried an egg from the microwave and I think it's disgusting. Not only does it become plastic but the odor is just revolting.

    • @Kugaine

    Why does it matter how close it looks to the PHOTOSHOPPED picture on the box?

    I brush a little butter or shoot some spray in the cup. It's totally bogus of the company to claim that the unit is "non-stick" without treating it. I had to laugh at the chef actually EXPECTING the cooked egg to FALL out of the cup. DUH! If you're not going to use some lube you need to pick up a spoon and force the cup to let go of the egg.
    Altogether, I'm not happy with this thing.

    When I make ramen in the morning, I crack an egg on the bottom of the bowl. Then add the noodles & top off with water. Nuke it 6 minutes, then stir in the seasoning packet. Before stirring, the egg lifts right off the bottom cooked way better than this thing.

    Or you could just use a bowl, cost a dollar or two an it will taste the same.

    A lot of college students just "stick it in".

    It will never be like it was on the box. Those eggs they use for those pictures come preformed like that frozen, working in fast food like Dunkin Donuts that's just how it is. Seems like an okay product for college students I wouldn't invest in one but good video all the same.

    All these people recommending you just use a ceramic bowl or mug instead of this thing might wanna take note, notice how it pops hard enough to blow the lid off this thing, chances are, if you did that in a piece of ceramic cookware, it would shatter. Bad idea.
