Can't you use the build in donations function of UA-cam?
@@diyhard666 UA-cam takes 50%. Patreon takes 5% (+ any taxes).
@@MajorSeventh 50%? Wow, that’s substantial. Look forward to X building out their video platform. Believe some good will come from it.
@@diyhard666 I also have a PayPal donation link, it allows someone to do a one time donation if they'd like.
@@homemadehome5575 I have the Google survey app and can spend my earnings either on stupid games or on my fav UA-camrs. 🤔
And I just don't care how much UA-cam takes of that to finance the storage of trillions of videos uploaded every day. I don't even know how it's possible to store all these videos from almost 2 decades.
But this is the money I have and it's the money I'm able to spend.
I hope there is a plot twist reveal in the final season where the chimney base returns for one final battle
The concrete block is in the treeline, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
I won't lie, it's been so long that I completely forgot about that chimney base.
Lol he walks in and the bricks are all back.
That is what I remember the most about this house.😊
that would be badass!!
The transformation from day one with urine soaked dilapidated mess, to the current status is incredible. Doesnt matter how long this has taken, this is a house any reasonable person would be pretty happy with. Its been a long journey but well worth following it. Thanks for the perserverence and videos.
Yes, self care is important even if you're a UA-camr.
Mustard 😆 🤣
mustard bottles are great for keeping wood glue from clogging and drying out
I'm sure I'm just gonna repeat what's been said thousands of times, but you truly do some incredible work bro. Really enjoy the videos. Your attention to detail is impressive
Thank you Mr. Sheppard. Best of luck with all you do.
@homemadehome5575 mr? We can be a little more informal than that lol. And thank you
Had to pause to say Yes! No pedestal sink! 👍👍👍 😊 Nowhere to store extra toilet paper rolls, bars of soap, cleaning products, perhaps even spare clean towels if you're clever with the vanity cupboard space. A vanity cabinet no matter how tiny is much more practical than a pedestal. I grew up with old fashioned ones in Victorian houses and storage was such a problem. Well done for swapping. Whomever lives in your house henceforth wiil love you for it. 🤗 And as a plumber told you, a lot easier to install. 💖
It's crazy to think that I found your videos when I was pregnant and had insomnia in 2020. To see how far this house has come and my daughter's growth is amazing.
The "before" and "after" on this house is staggering! What a beautiful, clean, light-filled space!
I love that you have the door swing out. I hate having to straddle the toilet to shut the door!
We actually rehung our existing powder room door so it swung out so that our parents who use a walker could navigate the bathroom so much more easily. It is right next to our pantry door, which has always swung out, so it actually looks better this way.
Brilliant solution by your father-in-law imho. Outer swing on the loo door is perfect, too. It's already a tiny space, and old folks appreciate all the extra space we can get. Great video, wonderful progress. See ya next Tuesday!
Good call on the vanity sink! The storage under the sink was really necessary!
As a person who had to use a walker for a few months after a surgery I appreciate you not using a door smaller than 30. I was impressed by how you laid that vinyl. I would have had to do a paper template and still screwed it up. It looks nice.
Glad you bit that bullet and opened a Patreon. As much as i've enjoyed your videos over the last (?) years, it enjoy them even more now knowing that i'm giving back to the creator.
Love the new scheduling idea (Tuesdays) and the shorter more frequent videos is also an awesome way to give us more updates! Many thanks
I like the linoleum. Its really nice!!!! Looking forward to Tues😊😊. Tyfs God bless you
The outward swinging door for that tiny powder room is indeed the best choice if large people will be using it. I like the pattern on the vinyl sheet flooring. I wish you had extended it down the entry hallway for ease of cleaning instead of putting in that carpeting. Children and pet dogs may be tracking in a lot of mud and vacuuming will not get up the muddy water that soaks into the carpeting and mildews the jute backing. When it is time to replace that carpeting, I would go with industrial type vinyl tiles because they are easy to keep clean and can stand up to a lot of use.
I couldn't agree more regarding the mud room/entry way and the carpet. I'm curious about his explanation in the next video, because I am struggling to see advantages. Isn't that kind of linoleum floor also cheaper than carpet?
Your craftsmanship is amazing, in fitting things in this crooked little house. It is going to be far better and far cuter than it has ever been in its existence. It is really starting to come together. My hubby is starting to get hooked on your channel as well. I do with we could call you something other than 'that homemade home guy" when we talk about what you are doing.
The place is getting the finishing touches. Looking so good. I would be happy to live here. You have done so much work, and the amount of work you did behind walls, people will never know.
I've dealt with tiny bathrooms like that, both in my childhood house and my current house. I remember my mom telling me a story of my dad getting stuck in the bathroom because he couldn't figure out how to maneuver around the door and toilet 😂 He's not even a large guy either. You definitely made the right choice having it swing out, even if it seems a little unconventional.
In other thoughts, I can't believe how close you are to completing this renovation and getting a tenant in there. I've been following not quite since the beginning, but shortly thereafter. I have a huge sense of joy and satisfaction seeing everything come together like it has. Thanks for taking us along for the ride these past 4-almost-5 years.
Just FYI, in my country (Belgium, Europe), it is advised to have toilet doors opening outwards for safety reasons. If anyone would pass out in this toilet behind the door, you wouldn't be able to open it inwards and rescue him.
So glad this series is back.
I've been watching you for years, your work ethic, skills, and attention to detail are commendable! I look forward to more years of enjoying your content.
Fun (maybe) fact :) In Norway there is a standard that all doors into bathrooms have to swing out. This is in case of emergency, so the person inside the bathroom cant block the door with their body if they have fallen down etc.
Great tip on the vanity. An little bit of extra storage for your cleaning supplies, tampons, or toilet paper.
With this video I felt like I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for this project. I"ve watched this series of videos from the beginning and you have totally rebuilt this place. I hope you get some great renters. Like a middle aged or older couple who want to stay there for oh you know the next twenty years or so. Also you mentioned in your last video having a new baby. Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing the kitchen completion.
I love that you are posting again. I love your incites and “rambling”.
On your transition between rooms, the spacing for the screws are every 2" (should also be used from seam to seam as well) and the interior spacing is 6" or 8" depending on the thickness of plywood or substrate used. The reasoning for this is due to the amount of pressure exerted when walking - you don't want the sheets to start squeaking. Great job! I've loved the series so far, enjoyed the journey.
I think the little bit of extra storage in the small bathroom is lovely because everyone needs a place to keep toilet paper. It may have been possible early on to do a pocket door? I can't recall. The other alternative, which I think is horrid,is a bi fold door. I really dislike bifold doors. I was laughing, why not a saloon door. Sorry about the 12K house getting trashed, I remember you working hard on that.
I want to thank you again for the "$9,000 House" videos... Your skills and diligent work ethic is inspiring. Amazing how it is taking-on such a transformation. I also really enjoy how you explain your decisions.
Sheet vinyl is going to be my choice for kitchen and bath. Waterproof and reasonably priced.
I thought I wanted wood floor for the kitchen but honestly, I cook a lot & I’m messy! It’s so much easier to keep clean!
Great work! Something to note: You had mentioned stepping down from a 28 inch door would require you to go to a 24. It is very easy to get a 26 inch pre hung door at your lowes or home depot by chatting with their door rep. They are 'custom' order, but will only run you $160 or so.
I haven't watched all of the video yet. I just wanted to say how much i love that little banity over the pedistal sink. Can't keep anything in a pedistal. Now there is a bit of storage even if not much. Bettern' nothin'.
Yeah the outwards swinging door is best for a tiny space like that.
2:29 Dude..that is NICE! Screw haters, they're jealous of your capabilities. You're awesome! Men like you are rare. Most just play PC-games nowadays like little children, you are actually building and doing something sensible with your life. And thats why they hate. Jealousy.
The guest toilet door is well thought out. Colonial classic six panel style hollow core interior doors
of the same style on the entire floor level. Putting low-profile wood trim around windows and doors
slim. But still tasteful and decorative. All very good sir. Not to be trapped, not to swing the door inwards
and of course the only right door solution here in this powder room so small in size. The normal thing
in Europe to code and also in Russia is to have as a rule to let bathroom doors swing outwards.
Very good sir.
I am one of the people who will hate on the floor choice BUT. I am looking at it from an owners perspective not a landlord perspective, so we are looking at it from two different viewpoints when it comes to function. And no matter what flooring you choose it's 1000% better than the original floors. So great job with both the house and the videos. Looking forward to seeing this house done.
You gotta buy or paint that hvac outlet black on the porch. Such a small detail but you don’t want to draw someone’s eye to a white register cover.
I totally agree with you about the functionality of the door swinging out on that little bathroom. Good call. Better all around.
You are getting the job done. 😊 This house has been renovated from the basement to the roof. Anyone would be pleased to rent or purchase this home. 😊😊 see you next time. Make it worth your time and hard work. 😊😊
My experience is the sink bolts to the wall, you do your plumbing and then slide the base under which is just a cover.
But you need to plan for it before the drywall goes on so you have sturdy studs to bolt into.
linoleum choice is perfect. It won’t show dirt.
I would install cabinets in that entry hall as a pantry of sorts.
“Using the small bathroom for something you shouldn’t” 😂😂😂
Hats off to anyone who still rents out their properties. Good to see the house is finally coming together.
Man this house is looking 100X better. Glad you posted this instead of waiting. Post the 12K dollar house.
When you first started ripping up that vinyl I thought for a second there was another layer underneath and I was like "OH NO THERE'S ANOTHER LAYER" but it wasn't. xD
Following this has been crazy. I started looking for a house to purchase for myself when the first videos came out and here I am five years later about to remortgage lol
It's been so amazing to watch this house come together very inspiring. I sure hope the renter truly appreciates the home and takes good care of it. What a blessing. Looking forward to the next video 😊
Been following this remodel since the beginning! Glad to see it coming together!
I think ppl. have gotten used to the rose colored HGTV staged home flips that are impractical with $500K budgets!! This is REAL life with a CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN & safe home for someone to move into. It's all looking good Bud. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!!
Almost to the finish line! Great job!
Thanks for increasing the frequency of videos. I’m enjoying these!
Growing up we had a similar small half-bath off the kitchen, and a similar outswing door. Never thought anything of it - there simply wasn't room internally for it. No need to explain - all's well that ends well.
You should get the end caps for the cut edge of the countertops at the range. If there's no caps they will get nasty. Also, consider getting side splashes for the ends of the counter top to protect the walls there.
going through my own mess like this recently. love the problem solving. here with you brother.
I would have done either a pocket door or an accordion door. I love the flooring. I love your attention to detail.
You know I never thought about it before. Here in the Netherlands bathroom and toilet doors usually open outwards. But in Portugal they mostly go inward 😅
Glad you realized why a swing out door for that small bathroom was a smart decision.
Looks Great! Good Work!
Love the tile - pre dirty, will look good before and after a mopping
Looking good!
Good to see you making progress. Stay positive!
I figured out how to break up that chimney base. Treat it like solid rock and drill holes and use "feathers" and a hammer to split it. Hope this helps
I like the flooring, and that door needs to swing out. You have done a fantastic job with this place.
love the work and the multi tool to cut the vent access (we call it a noisy saw as knowing tradespersons its just got the name as its too loud)
You should hit those registers with some black spray paint on the side porch. They would look so much better.
Thanks for showing your journey.
I feel so spoiled ❤. You and your family are the best!
Looking very good,,, always excellent work,,,, you show pride in your work................
I love the vinyl flooring
Good job
I am so sad that people would trash the 12,000 dollar house! This was another very satisfying peak into finishing this house. Kudos to your FIL for the excellent advice. I prefer the outward swinging powder room door, it encourages keeping it shut!
So many jobs, it’s coming along. It’ll be a nice home for someone.
Getting closer!
Good video. I like this series.
Love what you did with everything in this one :) floors are looking so good!
You're an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
That music during the sink install was intense. Like “It’s HAPPENING!!!!”
Very nice job.
Looking great! Our 1/2 bath door opens to the kitchen as well. Works fine :D
The door closing sweep you threw at 19:03 was flawless.
Wow the job is really motoring along again
I will say that we had a pedestal sink in our old house, it was attached to the wall with screws in drywall anchors, not studs. Over the years of people bumping it and kids hanging on it the screws no longer held and the sink had a tendency to walk away from the wall and leak as the fittings would get pulled apart. The vanity will eliminate that sort of problem.
I love your style of vdeos! Keep like this😊
My 23 yr old son just flipped his first house. He used the exact countertop and cabinets as you and painted the bedrooms gray. We’re also flipping our 3rd home and installed light flooring. I talked him into doing light flooring- not gray. Husband is a realtor and I see Gray gray gray on every flip! Quit! Gray is out!
Love how this is turning out!!! The door really did need to swing out! Super job reasoning on that!
That’s the same amazing flooring in my bathroom - you’re doing the right thing!
I learned a lot from this episode thanks!
Yes I am watching from work on my lunch break 👍 Nice job house is looking good.
Going to pray you get great, meticulous tenants going forward. I was a tidy tenant, so I know they exist 🙏🏼
Aw, so sad to see that lovely linoleum go. 😆🤣 who am I kidding the grey Lino is so much better!
I like the music you used. I like the progress too.
Glad you’re getting down to the wire on this house. Looking better every video.
Swing out door really is the best and most practical solution here 👍🏻
Not too sure about that black carpet though 🤔
I finally figured out what I'd put in that long room off the kitchen; cat trees🤣
Except that the dark fuzzy carpet will trap and show EVERY cat hair and speck of dirt.
@@gingermonette7455 True. Still, you got any ideas for a long hallway with all those windows and still be able to walk through to the kitchen? I don't believe chairs would fit well.
@@samanthasurovec4639 The hallway is so long and narrow, it's really wasted space. Maybe a bench for shoes and hooks for coats and plants in the window? I imagine it will be counted in the 'livable square footage' of the house but there is very little someone can do with it. A shame.
Great intro music! Flooring looks great. Bathroom door is fine. I've found bathrooms placed close to kitchen benefit from an exhaust fan . . .
I like watching your videos.
So happy you posted this today. :) really loving seeing the house growing all up, from being the little toddler. :)
Nice work. Nothing wrong with linoleum for what you're trying to achieve, especially that you did not glue it down so it can easily be removed. Another great video. Thank you.
Love your vlogs! Thankyou! ❤ XXX
