I have one. The Dariusz Janiszewski case. This was in 2000, Janiszewski was a Polish store owner, whose body was discovered floating in a lake near his home in Wroclaw, Czech Republic. An obvious homicide, the police initially had no leads and no suspects. Nobody knew anyone who wanted Janiszewski dead, he had no illicit contacts, no grudges against anyone, and nothing had been stolen from his house or business. The press even called it "the perfect crime". Now, you'd think whoever had killed Janiszewski would lay low and avoid drawing attention. After all, everyone was certain this was a cold case that would not be solved unless... well, unless the killer was dumb enough to tell the whole world he had done it. ...and it seems this killer WAS dumb enough. The murderer was Krystian Bala, a moderately well-established mystery author, who had killed Janiszewski in a jealous rage after assuming Janiszewski was sleeping with his estranged wife. In 2003, Bala wrote a book titled Amuk, the plot of which involved a murder case that seemed nearly identical to that of Janiszewski's. Eventually, a cop involved in the investigation got ahold of it and figured it was far too similar to be a coincidence. With the investigation now focused on a suspect, more evidence against Bala was found, and he was eventually arrested and convicted. As of now, he serving a 25-year sentence. And, it is fortunate police caught Bala when they did, as they found a manuscript on his PC hard drive detailing a second murder he was planning. It seemed he was going to do the same thing again.

There was a serial killer in Charlotte, NC, named Henry Wallace, who killed 10 people before getting caught...in fact, they weren't even looking for him. He screwed up and killed a co-worker at a fast food place he was working at, that led to him being caught. He was called "the Taco Bell Killer."
I always find it funny how upset BTK got about being tricked on how floppy disk work. It's like he seriously thought that being lied to was somehow more serious of a crime than anything he did. Perhaps he thought it was illegal for cops to lie. Reminds me of Breaking Bad where there is a goofball who is a dealer, and he correctly suspects someone of being an undercover cop and even calls out a surveillance van. But the undercover agent tells him a lie that officers legally have to declare themselves if directly asked. After "legally" declaring he's not a cop, they proceed with the deal only to get swarmed and busted within seconds.
If you do a sequel, you should talk about Stephen McDaniel. The dude literally gave an interview to the reporter and when the reporter mentioned that they had found important evidence, he started to break down live on the news.
Of all the known serial killers in human history, Albert Fish might be the most terrifying. He had a genuine fetish for pain and on top of the absolutely disgusting and horrifying things he did to children, he would insert needles into his own body then snap them off so they stayed. Apparently the only place in his body where the pain was too unbearable he couldn't do it was his testicles.
What about that guy who was interviewed in a documentary but then went off to the bathroom mumbling to himself about how he did the murders without realising his mic was still on?
He was very handsome, but everything else that supposedly makes him “cool” is overrated and mythologized. He was never a “genius” in any way, and his power to charm and seduce is seriously overrated, considering that he really just caught his victims by exploiting their *kindness* when they agreed to help out what appeared to be an injured man in need of some assistance. He did not *seduce* them at all! He just cruelly exploited their natural human kindness, which is evil beyond words.
