He explains what's common between the ICE and the EV, and what differs as well. He also discusses how Tata Motors has been able to improve the Punch EV over its ICE counterpart, and how it is positioned as compared to the Nexon EV.

It's really surprising that these two gentlemen who are highly informed in their field did not ask those questions which a common man would love to do so..For example, the advertised range and what it actually delivers? Why are the fit and finish of Tata products always an issue? Why the customer service is not yet matching with that of its competitors etc. Maybe if they ask these uncomfortable questions, Tata might black list then. Who knows?

I always worry about the warranty coverage conditions.
For example: Tata Punch ev comes with 8 years warranty, what does it cover exactly? What if the range falls down to 50% of what is given now after a certain time?

70% SoH for given warranty period ie range will not drop by more than 70%

1)Why there's a significant difference between ARAI claimed range and real world range? From the data and real life experience, it's evident that Tata is doing poor in range category compared to Hyundai, MG
2)how is tata going to fix service issues.
3)why tata still not giving decent fast charging options even platform seems to be capable of.
There could have been more common issues that you could have asked. Bit disappointed.

Polo GT TSI owner here. Have been driving the polo for last 6-7 years. So spoiled and have high expectations from any car I drive. I test drove the punch ev today - empowered+ LR, and must say I am mighty impressed with it. The obvious EV benefits like punchy motors contribute to this no doubt, but then the surprise was that ride quality and suspensions were extremely pliant. It felt like an extremely well balanced tuning between perf and ride quality for this fairly tall and compact car. The test ride was quite short and I didn't get to drive it very extensively, so I might be speaking too soon. But whatever little I could get, I have come out impressed and interested. So far the Polo with the DSG was the ideal small footprint car for Bengaluru traffic, but this goes a notch higher. If only the salesman was a little less lacklustre, he could have gotten much closer to a cheque. :)

Irrespective of the platform, EVs are a bad decision for Indian market. It is like a smartphone on wheels where the car will become scrap within 10 yrs. The batteries become weaker over time and after 8 yrs you need to spend half the price of the car to replace the battery. It is actually more carbon intensive, Americans are giving up on it now. India needs PHEVs to balance the life of car and climate change requirements.
