The quitting framework was really interesting. It takes the emotion out of what can be a really emotional decision for most people. I was in this position around this time last year. What helped me was reading books about fear and worry, and taking 2 weeks annual leave and spending some of that time contemplating whether I would stay or quit my job. I ended up quitting my job of 4 years. Afterwards, I returned to study for a semester and then found an entry-level job in my industry of choice. I'm happier and more optimistic about the future than I've ever felt.
Yeah absolutely that’s why I love it so much! That’s so great to hear, it sounds like you made the right decision, I think it is absolutely about education yourself about fear, risk and learning about yourself. That’s how I approach it anyway, thanks for the comment!
This was really meaningful and i felt like i got alot of value out of your video. I especially like how you narrate your thoughts so eloquently, i feel like ive defs felt the same as yoi but i would not have thought to express them like that so i loved it
It's so interesting that during my research for this career I came across so many consultant UA-camrs who hyped up the life, and then after a few months passed they'd post how they quit/left. Just goes to show in-depth research is important cause if I just watched the videos that showed they were happy then I would still believe I wanted this career.
Yeah so true Emily. But I would say that everyone had a different experience with it, and consulting is a good place to learn things early on in your career. But if you do research into lots of careers and consulting still seems like it’s not for you then that’s probably a good indicator!
@@tintinsmith For sure, I'm the type of person who wants a work/life balance and just never wanted to travel so much due to many commitments at home. Thanks for your video!
This video is so helpful for me right now. I'm super unhappy in a position that pays really well, is challenging, good colleagues,, but it's in a city I hate, unorganised and underesourced. I can take a huge pay cut to move home and pivot across to consulting (Im an engineer), but have full flexibility to pursue other things outside of work. I'm definitely at the 90% but wanting the 100%, and staying with "The Devil I know". I need the quantitative reasoning to help me make decisions, and you really helped! :)
Nice one Tintin! I've been tutoring / education consulting for about two years now - enjoy the work + the hours give me the time to focus on my music too. Definitely took me a while to build up my work and get comfortable with making my own schedule but it's been worth it - good luck!
Love your clear logic and independent thinking, thank you for sharing and we believe you deserve and you will have more and more subscribers very soon!
As someone who is into online tutoring, the high you get after a particularly good class is worth it! Working on promoting my edu start up is really satisfying as it also helps me pursue my other interests in public policy, so it will all work out in the end. Good luck man!
I rarely comment on UA-cam, But this is seriously a great video. It can be an eye-opener to whoever isn't content with his current job. Even though I have been reading/researching a lot about job fulfillment, your thought process and questions really made one choice outweigh the other. From this video, I am 100% sure that your communications skills and knowledge in self-development, along with the quitting experience, will help you nail your desired field. Thanks!
Wow Naif that's amazing to hear thank you ❤ It's my dream to get comments from people who rarely comment haha so you've really made me feel great this morning thank you. Haha thanks Linda! I find those big life decisions so hard to make, but I've realised so does everyone. Sometimes when I think about them now, it genuinely is the 51% decision making rule which I mentioned in the video that I use. Most of the time I realise I am way more than 51% certain about something, I'm just scared because I don't have 100% !
