"2021 BMW X3M Competition" Test Drive & Review - TheGetawayer

- For this review I test drove the new BMW X3 M Competition with the new S58 inline-six M-engine. It's the most powerful version of the X3 with 510 hp and serious cornering performance. That said, it really rides poorly on the sporty suspension which made filming it a proper pain for me. So this was my last try and basically a one take. I hope you still enjoy the review and find it helpful!

Like your honesty. I feel like most reviewers are overly positive about cars from big brands because they don´t want to get other cars in the future. Keep up the great work!
so true, its to the point I take what those reviewers say with a grain of salt.
@Abe I have the same car and I agree with you fully. I think the reviewer would be better off with a non-M version such as the X3 M40i. BMW made that car for people who are looking for more comfort and made the M car for drivers looking for high edge performance! Nobody buys a car like this hoping for great mileage! The Mercedes GLC C63s AMG is a lot less economical by the way, even though it’s an incredible car.
Great video as always! Keep up the good work. Loving the roads. Suprised about S58 consumption as they did great job with B58.
Your videos deserve much more views, awesome video as always Guido :)
GK, i never miss any of your videos. Please keep posting good videos. The views will come.....
very honest review and definitely deserve a lot of subscribers.
My subwoofer shook the glasses off my table when I watched the video. Im feeling with you... 😂
.... And nice Biceps 💪
It's funny how every journalist keeps talking PR bs about all cars, doing 0-60 time, some sliding shots and praises every freaking car in the world unless it's a budget chinese 1 seater. I'm so sick of these "reviews", just give me a review and not a PR leaflet... Thank you for your honesty. I wish more viewers would talk about your channel in other videos so these people would too realize that there are far better journalists out there. Also, if you want small channels, there's a guy "Build Quality Test" that does 2-3 minute videos where he just pushes all over the interiors and see how bad they are.
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll check him out
BMW has this misunderstanding of hard suspension = sportiness since quite a while now. My F31 in the Sport setting is also unpleasantly harsh and tends to become jumpy on bad roads or even the Autobahn.
Totally agree with your comments. I have just sold my X3M Competition. The ride was way too harsh and I couldn't live with it on a daily basis. Also I couldn't understand the lack of low end torque. Shame as I loved it's tech and styling. But the ride- so disappointing.
my first video at your chanel, and I liked a lot. Keep up doing this kind of videos. Very nice one. Very honest. Totally understandable your opinion, I own an X3 petrol engine too and it´s true that the stifness is ridiculous...
Thanks for your feedback! Its always great to read owners opinions
Heard bad things about this x5. That alpina version though 👌🤤
Great review again 👍genuinely think it's mad that you don't get tons of views. I watch alot of motor reviews /content and yours are my favourite. I found your channel earlier this year and am really enjoying your stuff. Lookin forward to the next one 🤙
is the suspension bad ride quality of x3m worse than f10 m5 competition package? If not, then its acceptable, yes x3m as an suv should be more comfortable than M sedans, but I would accept F10 harshness in SUV form. BUt if harshness in X3M is worse than F10 M5 comp harshness then perhaps not acceptable
Best to try for yourself, but I'm one of many who thinks its too harsh and I think it comes across in the video too
this channel deserves more subs
Was about to buy one.... now having second thoughts....
I can understand the appeal of a regular SUV, especially the X3. But these performance versions are just unnecessary in my opinion. BMW definitely went too far. But I bet many of their customers think that a harsh ride equals a super sporty car.
Great work! You have a fan from Canada!
Thank you!
BMW impressed with this one
It still rides much better than 2020 Toyota Highlander
Alter was is mit dir passiert? Vom schlanken Mann zum hulk? Geile Videos vorallem das W205 C klasse video von damals!
Im driving the car right now(my loaner car) It's crazy stiff.
No way they gave you an X3M for a loaner
@@rkkrogeryes indeed - but I have bought multiple cars including M car
It’s not too stiff.
Hey Guido, have you driven the X3 M40i? Maybe I’m a girly man but that thing kicked it and the suspension felt more supple. Anyways thanks for the video! Come to think of it, is there a tune for the 30i engine?
Sure did, as mentioned in the video from 3:10 onwards ;) Im sure there are tunes that deliver more power, but from my testing experience I can't really recommend any company with confidence. Just get the bigger OEM engine is what I would do
@@TheGetawayer OMG my brain wasn't functioning. I kind of focused on that you were only talking about the diesel M version. And then my daughter started to ask me about going to our local outdoor pool when you shifted to talking about the M40i. Oh well, now I watched the video twice. Bonus viewing.
Thanks!
Even though it isn’t a performance car, have you driven the new Touareg? If so, what do you think of it?
Without a doubt a great car, but I struggle with expensive VWs. I'd rather have an Audi, BMW or Mercedes for this kind of money. All drive excellent
Interesting...thank you sir👍
Fuel is cheap. Buy a bottle of water if you want to be shocked at the price / litre.
Lol
I take it you checked the tire pressures?
It's a great car. U need to spend more than a day with it.
I had it for two weeks like all press cars
@@TheGetawayer fair enough I've had mine for six months and it's brilliant. I also have an m760li. I'd put them neck and neck. Plus I have a cl63amg. I wouldn't want any other cars. Those three have it all.
I think u have to live with the ride for the handling in a vehicle like that. It feels very agile. And whilst it's a bit hard on country roads it's also very fast on them even in bad conditions. I could beat a lambo on a wet, bumpy road no question.
My cl is smooth af, and power all the way up from the naturally aspirated V8. But it's a different beast. And they don't make em like that any more. For what the X3M is there is no 'competition': practical, high tech, fast and agile. I've just improved the styling a bit on mine. Doesn't need anything else.
He doesn’t get it. It’s a pure M. Does he understand M division? Yes it has stiff ride. They all do!. If he like his car to wobble around corners at high speed stick with a X340i and your comfort.
I will watch out for that X340i, if BMW ever makes one
My f80 m3 rides way better than this. When I drove x3 m, my head is constantly shaking and the drone from tires and exhaust makes my ears bleed
@@TheGetawayer BMW has had the X3 M40i since 2017 - so they’ve made one for a long time now. 😎
@DavidC: +1
BMW has just Lost it. Everything has an M badge and a Competition badge. Even a SUV. It’s ridiculous!
Does it have run flat tires ? BMW has never learned to tune any of their suspensions properly on their vehicles with run flat tires. BMW probably requested UA-cam to make your video not come up in anyone's search for BMW X3 M etc. since your video isn't the normal 'glowing' BS that pollutes automotive journalism .
'In a world of universal deceit telling the truth is an act of heroism !' Evidently, inconvenient car truths don't often receive great applause. And money.
Knee-jerk result - the occasionally soul destroying criticisms:( You can only please a few people some of the time. Cats rarely bark.
