- They are an incredible Australian native fish with beautiful purple and green spots along their bodies.
Also a slight inaccuracy i call a western carp gudgeon a firetail.

Thats awesome! They are some of the coolest fish you're very lucky to have them. Are they common in the aquarium hobby over there?
Also they will eat anything that can fit in their mouth
@murkyseb I'm from Chicago Illinois aswell. I don't think they are that common, as in I haven't spotted them in most fish stores. I'm also planning on getting these. Are the ones in the video the Northern or the southern species?

I have a huge female she's 2yrs old 6+ inches dark in color with yellow fins...nor shure if she's northern or southern but ive kept both species...

@@murkyseb yeah check her out on my channel I have a few videos of her, she is in love with my male delhizi birchir, hopefully I'll find her a mate this year at my LFS one of the most personable fish I've ever kept she loves nightcrawler peices at the moment...

@@murkyseb no im in ohio I don't think there native around here you have all the cool stuff where your at keep those special species vids coming I love them I keep juvenile gertrude 🌈 rainbows aswell just started getting into them but the footage you got in the wild is great content 😉

They definitely aren’t extinct and are relatively common in Queensland!
