    Hi Lindsay. I watched Howards video a while back & purchased a couple of these flies sizes #14 with black & orange beads. On the dropper under a fab…wow! Third cast out at Bangour fishery & a lovely 3lb rainbow. I purchased them to copy if I liked them then saw your video on tying so have three flies ready to go. Orange, chartreuse & black beads. Another easy to follow video Lindsay, thank you & tight lines. Derick.

    The intended fall-back effect at the pause of the retreive makes great sense. I am a bit concerned about anything that reduces the hook gape. I wonder if it would work to substitute lead or weighted wire to replace the bead. Your thoughts? I would appreciate it if you could report your experience when you fish the fly. I would love to test it, but I am no longer able to fish. I donate my flies & want to be sure they work for recipients who are learning to flyfish.

      I am sure Howard used a tungsten bead. Maybe some turns of lead wire would work not quite as well though. When I get the chance I will let you know how it goes 👍

    To use this pattern in a competition. Could you as a work around substitute the bead for a ball of Fluor floss then soak it with UV resin harden with a UV light then add a couple of extra coats to give the extra weight?

    • @lindsayiflyfish
      @lindsayiflyfish  Рік тому +2

      Maybe but I doubt it would have the weight to achieve the desired effect.

    I fish Cormorants all the time. Can use as a Buzzer drifting with the breeze or as a mini lure with mixed retrieves . Great fly

    Great angler is Howard...he comes to the fishery to test new Hardy rods etc along with his partner Lucy who gives casting tuition. He did a lot of testing with his drwback bung.....absolutely deadly. 👍👍👍

      Fulling mill can’t send the bung back here to America yet because of legality reasons with our fish and wildlife bureau. Through a conversation with fulling mill, they are going to try to release it this fall. Standing by.

    I have been using some "craft shop " marabou ( that I bought last time I was in the UK) and been pleasantly surpriced by the quality!!!
    The same shop actually sells the same yarn that Textreme uses as theyr " extreme string " exept it is like 50 yards per hank/docket and about half the price.

      Hobby Craft is a great shop for finding bits and bobs at a reasonable price.

    I aggree about the nature's spirit marabou being not very good, which is a tad strange, since most of their stuff is excellent, especially deer hair and dubbing.

    I literally got a take on my first cast with this fly on the point; I lost this fish so I don't know if it took the cormorant or one of my droppers. However, I hooked up again a few casts later and brought the fish to the net and it had taken the cormorant.👌

    I guess one would use a tungsten bead fir the fly ti work. Maybe I’m wrong ? Thanks!!

    • @lindsayiflyfish
      @lindsayiflyfish  Рік тому +3

      A tungsten bead could be and is used in the original dressing but I don’t see how a brass bead would not work 🤷‍♂️

      Das Grün wird verwendet, damit ich keine schwarze Linie über der grünen Perle habe. Ein kleiner Punkt, aber manchmal sind Details wichtig.
