    This fly helped Graeme Lynch become the Champion of Champions in 2022, seems a long time ago now.....lol. The unusual name 'Terry Perry' comes from the monsters inc movie character and is named for the legs. Cormorants have long been a favourite of Loch Style Competition anglers but they are equally as effective on small Stillwaters. As soon as Graeme sent me the picture of this fly I wanted to get some tied up. Graeme has kindly given his consent to me sharing the pattern with you all I hope you enjoy it.

    Starting the year with a bang. Possibly the ultimate comp cormorant. Textreme Magic Rib Red. Is a great single stage traffic light tinsel. Not too flashy with a strong resistance to trout teeth. The knotted pheasant tail fibre legs give that extra subtle life. One that a lot of people will try in future sessions.

    Nice pattern Lindsay! These Comerant flies are so versatile in any still water. One of the first flies I tied for stillwater flies, was very much like your Cormorants except there was no dubbed body, only three marabou wings tied on a 2x - 3x hook, which for me was a Mustad 9672 in #8. I think it has accounted for more Stillwater fish in my hand than even the purple Crystal Bugger. Anyway thanks for this pattern, I appreciate your skill sharing.

      I was lucky that Graeme was kind enough to show me the pattern. It’s not often the comp guys give up much. 😉

      @@lindsayiflyfish I bet. It's hard enough when a guy asks about what a guy is using and the fisherman hauls out his box of reject flies, that you carry as a decoy box.....not that I would ever do that! Nope not me!

    Hi Lindsay enjoying your tutorials as ever looking to see if you could give me a heads up where best to obtain the comp candy marabou as I've used other ones but feel I through most of it away when stripping back to get to some decent fibres take care and stay safe tight lines

    Nice one Lindsay!, are the 230BL as good as they say? Looking for some decent Stillwater hooks but not as heavy as the B175.

    • @lindsayiflyfish
      @lindsayiflyfish  Рік тому

      They are a barbless hook Chris where the B175 are barbed. I like these for general purpose but out and out pulling the H200 is a better hook in my humble opinion.

    • @fliesbychris
      @fliesbychris Рік тому +1

      @Lindsay Simpson Fly Fishing I've been tying mostly barbless lately and I've been trying out different makes, the B175 is my loch fly hook with crushed barbs but I've been really impressed with the H390BL for my klink patterns but I need something a wee bit more robust for pulling,I'll have a wee look at the H200, cheers!!

    • @lindsayiflyfish

      It’s designed for Stillwater fishing, not sure I would ever fish it on a river.
