The ‘18s have intrigued me. I’ve never been a fan of Harley at ALL, but these innovations are fresh. I’m really looking at getting one now
Never been a hd fan, even after living in Milwaukee over a dozen years. Bought a Sport Glide this past year and absolutely love it.
I love the wheels and the versatility. I would leave it completely stock, bars, exhaust, all of it. Just be grateful to have one.
Gorkondragonslayer I feel the same way stock is best
I agree with you 💯
I fell in love with the Sport Glide because of the modularity. I went into Harley and said I want a basic Softtail that I could put a windscreen and saddlebags on if I wanted and they showed me this. I just gotta wait till I get my car paid off.
I think it's an incredible bike. I love the fact the faring is removable, which changes the appearance just enough at the front to make it look like a different bike. It's brilliant.
After not riding for over 25 years, this is my first Harley. My plan is to leave it “stock” because to me with my riding experience, this is a rocket ship. Maybe after a few years I may add a stage 1. Right now I am in love with this bike. The versatility is awesome.
As I look towards taking the Basic Riding Course this spring, it's hard to imagine what type of bike fits me. But the more I watch @blockhead videos, the more I look at Harleys. For some reason this bike right here speaks to me.
I bought this bike based on these you tube reviews, I have it for 1week with 400 miles and it's an awesome machine, handles great and easy to park.
I'm thinking maybe ... I might sorta ... kinda ... like it. This may be the first of the 2018's that I like. Being able to quickly & easily remove the bags is a big plus for me. It looked really good without them. Change the bars, pay the Harley tax ... good to go. Thank for giving us a view.
+1 I liked it without the bags but w/ the fairing still on. But that's what my Low Rider S looks like, so I can't be impartial, haha. Glad you enjoyed the review, thanks for commenting!
test rode it today, dream machine. engine smooth, low vibes, breaks good, frame stiff, good acceleration. just sound not what HD got us used to (think could be dealt with some aftermarket pipes). sick now to get it
G’day from Down Under. I recently had my ‘14 Fat Bob (ironic when you watch the review...) written off by insurance and bought a Sport Glide to replace it. Talk about chalk and cheese! I love the ‘Glide but can’t ride it for another month because I am away for work.
The biggest thing that got me was the smoothness of the motor, and the lack of vibration. The seating position is also another notable difference and I feel that riding it all day would not be to hard, I don’t honestly think I could say the same about the ‘Bob.
InstaBlaster...
I own the only Sport Glide in Houston! I have NEVER seen one on the streets. Its a damn good bike. I just completed a 1k trip and I avg 51mpg!
I just upgraded from an iron 883 to a sport glide. I myself also have the only one around that I know of. It's a great bike. I especially like it because it's not like every one else's bike. It's different. I've gotten allot of compliments on it
I bought one in 2019 and just celebrated my one year anniversary with her. She's fabulous, and this first year i put 15,000 miles on her. Have camped with the bike on cross-country 5,000 mile trips, shorter weekend trips and also commute daily on it. A day without riding makes me very sad, this bike is pure fun
😼👍
Thank you for the Sports Glide review. After seeing your video, I decided to schedule a test ride of my own and wound up purchasing one in Twisted Cherry. I’m hoping I can pick up my new ride this weekend. Thank you again Blockhead for your informative and fun videos.
Deuces!
I ended up buying one in Twisted Cherry as well. Changed the bars, windscreen, and seat(stock seat was killer on the misses) so far.
IveAlreadyWon me too..what seat did you go with?
Finally a review where they showed what it looked like without the bags but with the fairing (Awesome). If i had the money this bike would be a top contender from the 2018 lineup
I'm not a HOG fan, but this bike looks like what a modern Japanese metric bike should be. They quit this genre a long time ago. Congrats Harley! You've got something here I like.
I rode a 2019 sport glide today. It honestly feels like a bike half its weight. Super flickable and loads of torque.
the 2018 Harleys are hit and miss but this is right on the money..... Thats a good looking bike!
I have one (bought June 2018) and love it! My 1st Harley. I just wish it had more parts available to swap out (bars, pipes) right now but give it a month or two... 1st upgrades were the Custom Dynamics LED front turn signal inserts and a sissy bar for passengers. So far no issues and its a solid bike all the way around!
The way you ran through the key points on the bike in quick but complete bullet points, including size, TQ, cooling, braking, etc right away is the way to do it. That's all I want and no one does it. Just had to thank you.
Just bought one last week and love it. Bags are perfect side to hold my work boots so I don’t have to worry bout melting soles onto exhaust.
That sport glide looks great! (Besides the bars) those things gotta go. I really like how simple everything detaches for a short around town feel/look. Awesome first ride blockhead. I appreciate all the great content you come out with 🤙🏽🍻
Great ride footage! Word on the Street from a number of Australian Journalists that the Sport Glide is H-D's best release yet! I'm yet to ride one myself but I'm very keen. Cheers, from the Aussie Bikers team.
I was waiting for your review on this bike.
I’m a lover of all bikes as well.
I think this bike would be a cool bike to take 3-4 hour long trips.
I haven’t been on it yet but I like it so far.
Bags + front fairing would definitely make it a nice one for out of town trips for sure. But want to jump around town? Remove bags, easy peasy.
Just waiting for the sport glide to get to Australian dealers so I can try it out. I think that Harley have nailed it with this model. Strip it down for around town or load it up for a few days away. I'm 6'4 and 225 lbs, so I hope the bike fits me! I really love the look of it. Thanks for the review Blockhead, detailed as ever. Ride safe brother.
I like the Sport Glide.
I’d like it better if:
A: it a blacked-out package were available
B: the price were lower
You can always black them out.
Still a lot cheaper than a Breakout. That really is too expensive. 💸
Andrew Green $18,599 bikes should be at $13,599 and the $15,599 bikes should be at $11,599. Get rid of the middleman/stealership and this would be the prices. 👍🏻👍🏻
This is probably going to be my next bike! I think it comes pretty close toa Street Bob Special wich I ride now. Thank you very much for doing this test!
I went today to test ride this bike... around my neck of the woods they can’t keep them in stock. Soon as one gets off the truck it’s sold... maybe soon. I did get some seat time on the new 2018 Heritage, and loved it except the running boards. I would have rather had pegs.
A new favorite of mine in the line-up. And sure, it reminds me a bit of the ol´Lowrider S with the fairing on. A "do it all bike". Great review.
Would love to see, and value you opinion. But, would love to see a Softail Low Rider vs The Sport Glide. Comparison video.
They seem extremely similar (minus price) and I haven't seen, and I have searched.
Love your channel.
Thanks for the test ride. Looks like my next bike.
The best new Harley of 2018, possible also of the last decade or so. I still might buy another Softail (Slim or Street Bob) in due time but this is so cool. HD was also very clever because this is what the old continent want a bagger (if you can call it that) to be. I love my Sportster Custom to much for the moment to change. But this is awesome.
You want tho sale wan
I just tried that one today. I'm 5'10" but have short legs. The foward controls were ok but a bit far. The one thing I did not like is the vibration. I have a 1997 sportster and my god I like the shake. This as no shake at all. I guess it suits some people but not my taste. I'll be sure to test drive the street bob next. My short legs will feel more confortable.
This bike makes me want to go check out the new Harley's. Of course I did JUST buy my first bike. It's probably too soon to be looking at other things.
Forrest Culver it's never too early lol
Amen to that :D
It's never too soon! 😋
I traded my first bike in for my second bike after about 7-8 months. 👍🏽
Same, trades my iron 883 for a Low Rider S within 3-4 months.
Junk the batwing & fit 2" risers. Looks so much better with the big dish headlight on show. 👌
Thanks for the test ride/review, think I've found my new bike!!
I got myself an Iron this year and I’m kind of regretting it now after seeing this beauty. Gonna have to see about trading up.
Probably gh on a trade in my Iron in a few months for this one lol
If i was bike shopping i would definitly want to ride this bike 🏍🤘
Bought one yesterday just for those amazing wheels. 👏
Just a quick note: this and all the new softails actually have two counterbalances and hard mounting. It has the one that was in the 107 engine on last year’s touring models that eliminated about 75% of Harley shake and it also has another that eliminates over 90% of what’s left.
In other words, Harley shake is virtually eliminated in this and the other new softail models.
That would look great with big risers and drag bars
I'm liking this bike the best. Blockhead did this ride justice, thanks for the ride bro you make this an easy choice. Thank you...
I bought one last year with my inheritance money, I really like it there's not much to dislike, the engine is smooth and powerful enough to keep you happy on motorways, the only problem I have had is leaking push rod covers, but the front one was sorted and the front rear one is going to get sorted.
My 18 had the Rocker heads leaking.
@@CandyBarMoto I got the other one sorted, this sort of thing shouldn't happen on brand new vehicle's, what shocks me (I work in the motor industry) is that Harley Davidson doesn't use engine die, which tells me they don't test the engines other than the rolling road which is bad in my book.
I think it will do very well for HD. Hat's off to them 😬
I thought Erik was with you because I seen his bike when you were showing the sport glide and then I find out he got a RoadKing! That’s awesome!!!!
Thanks for the video, Blockhead...I've been riding Yamaha's for a long time, but I've been thinking about stepping up to a new Harley...way more expensive than my FJ-09...have to ride one of these once the snow thaws. Thanks again!
Yeah, it seems really cool. Wish they offered it with the 114...thanks Blockhead!!
Put a stage 3 or 4 on it. Takes it out to 114 and still covered by warranty if done at purchase
Short windshield is not useless, it's all about air redirecting. You will notice objects that hit the spot just above windshield will fly over your head if they're light enough. Rocks, bricks and tools thrown from triggered cagers windows not included. The quick attach fairings nice if only want to use on long rides.
The wheels are dope
Fun riding with you there even though, apparently you're not a big believer in stop signs. Nice bike.
I just got the 18 Heritage and have to say I haven't wanted to burn the seat. Something changed with the seats. I was trying to keep it stock but no luck... changed out the brake and signal lights to LEDs. Stage 1 is next...😁
Kelly A sat on the 18 heritage today. The seat was the best stock seat I've ever sat on. Heritage was an extremely comfortable bike.
love it. if my wife loved me i would have one.
LOL. My wife made me get one...And I love it!!
My wife wanted me to get rid of my bikes. Kept the bikes, ditched the wife.
Only one?
I like the street bob but this is much better
Love the sound of your bike man... pure pleasure!
1:05. Did I hear it correctly? Did u mention street glide instead of sport glide? Lol
I like it. I actually have a switchback. I like my bags more than these! The windshield on mine is ugly compared to this though... The beauty of these is that they come off very easily though!
Congrats on the 50k dude, well deserved.
Oh yes. I am a fan hell yeah
What cost thebike
I just don’t like the shape of the bags. If maybe they had the look like the Streetglide does I might like it better. Aesthetics aside, I test drove it and really liked how comfortable it was. Also test drive the Breakout and FatBob too..... still haven’t decided which one to buy..
MMMMMaaaaaaaaaan, The Ole Fatty looks good up against that Sport Glide ! aaahhhhh i miss "Moonshine" already.
I'm still sold on the Fat Boy, but If I were looking at the sport glide the big seller for me would be getting all the extra goodies for a cheaper price because it's stock.
Bags, and holdfast stuff and a removable fairing would cost a lot to get for a bike that doesn't have it stock.
Bags for the fatboy are 1000$
But yeah no one leaves an HD stock. First thing I'm getting is an Engine guard, and a sissybar holdfast setup to hang a backpack on like my dad has on his sporty.
Im wondering how much lean angle the engine guard would reduce though.
I might have to replace the sportglide as my runner up, choice. Without the fairing the front end looks good.
Under 19000$ with an engine guard installed.
I like it. I'm not a fan of bags either but this I would do. The fairing looks a little small on the bike but maybe the taller windshield would help. Overall I think its cool definitely will consider it when I get my next bike.
I like it Harley got it right, Right from the get go.
I really like this bike, handle bars would have to go tho.
What kind of handle bars would you put on it?
I really like it. Maybe I will be able to aquire one of these after it has been through 3 or 4 owners.
Hey what’s up , great review!! What ride did you like better ? , the Sport glide or 18 fatboy
stage2 on this bike really opens it up
Looks like the Harley Street Glide got together with the Harley breakout and had an illegitimate kid
I was going to get the Low Rider S but as you know it's discontinued. As soon as I saw this bike I loved it, especially the sleek fairing. Let me be honest; I HATE those round saddle bags, I'd love it if I could get the regular saddle bags instead. I don't know if that's possible.
I have a 15 road glide special and to be honest I kind of want to trade it for this bike. Although I would want broomstick handlebars and the ability of play music and a set of two into one thunderheader exhaust.
Contender bike for after I wear my S out 😎
I think I'm going to go for one of these, I believe it's the best compromise between a bit of sports riding and touring. There's only one thing missing and that's cruise control, is it possible to have this retro fitted. I posted this but missed the bit when you said it had cruise control, I didn't think it did but it does, it's a done deal.
I believe it comes with cruise.
I caught that Borat “Very Nice”
Interesting....my 2000 and 2002 Honda 1100's have two plugs and three valves per cylinder. My 1981 Yamaha Virago has OEM pinwheel style rims which looks like Harley patterned these after. I wonder if the wheels are still being made in Australia for Harley.
I've ridden the M8 107 on both a Road King and Road Glide and I liked the performance and quietness of the motor. I also liked what Showa did with the new suspension. I thought it was a big improvement over all previous years.
A guy on a bike forum says his boss bought two new 2017 bikes, and one lost the water pump. Harley fixed it under warranty. The warranty ran out and the new replaced part went South and Harley wouldn't fix it. The newly replaced part that failed was 4 months old. The guy didn't say which model, but I'm assuming one of the Street models. Those are made in India, and assembled here. The engines are supposedly manufactured in the US, but who knows where the water pumps are made.
What’s up Blockhead! I’m trying to decide between the Sport Glide and the Low Rider S! What do you think?
Think it looks great! Nice review. Hey i've stock exhausts on my 48! (not out of choice though but lack of funds). Thanks
Once all the extra stuff was removed I was a lot more sold on the look. I'm new to all of this, and I know I don't want a cruiser...
Hi blockhead moto been subscribed for 2 days now great videos. I am looking at getting my first cruiser bike in 2019 never rode one so could be fun I currently have a mt09 so I want a second bike so seems right to get something I have never rode. Also what has harley replaced the dyna with or what do they do that is simaler.
As they say, ride it like you stole it 🙂 nice video.
I like it, I’m thinking that might be my next bike. That or the softail slim.
@1:04 I was like,, whats a 2018 Street Glide :O
This bike is for the mile muncher ride👍👍👍. I'd be keen on one of these.
Thanks for the vid, dude, detailed, informative!
I like this bike, thanks for your channel!
Dam I really like that bike
Stupid question but how is the wind..? Assuming it’s not too blocked? I love the wind in my face and the wide open front but unfortunately I can’t just take my glasses off and still see good enough to ride anymore :/
Like the bike a lot, but as Im happy with what I got I think I will try to just by the faring as I need one and this one looks really nice :)
Nice bike. It bothers me a little that the ground clearance is 4.7 vs. 5.1 of the Low Rider...
I love it
Hey there Mr. Blockhead! Do you think a 5'5" guy would sit fine on that bike?
And sold!
That's badass
Whats its top speed? It better more than than 110mph for a 107, as even the 96 cubic inches from 10 years ago was 110mph. Oh and if you're over 6'2' then forget it unless you customise the seat and forward controls!
What is it about right hand turns? Maybe cause race tracks always go to the left? Nice bike.
Je l'ai testé. .
Et je l'ai acheté aussi.
Livraison mi avril, ..en France.
Ma troisième HD.
Im a full on Bike enthusiast as well But, Heres the question....If you had to pick only one bike between your Harley or the RR, what would it be?
I'd drive one... but what is the difference between this and the Streetglide style wise? Seems like the same basic layout to me?
I know this is an old video but i wanna know...
Do those bags open WIDER ?? Can you disconnect that strap that limits the amount of opening so you can fit a helmet??
Tnx
Would adjusting the handle bar up help with the awkward feeling?
I really like it.... interested to see how it rides esp. with those bars
Your buddy's break light seems like it has a wiring issue unless he's riding the heck out the break...
Now if it wasn't almost 17k. That kinda upcharge is the only thing that would keep me from going to get one of these. Other than the price this is a great bike.
