Thank you for the direct comparison. I have a liliput in brass with wave design and was wondering if I would like the supra, now I know I will. Copper kills germs so it's perfect during a pandemic.
Oooh how serendipitous! We released at the same time! I almost went with ancient copper with mine as well :)) but I had golden sand that I had not tried.
i recently got a supra (which i'd been considering for a while & this vid convinced me!) & i wanted to share an awesome thing i'd discovered-while posting it makes it really long, it's not actually bad to write with & twisting the cap on to post makes it secure. i was writing on a kind of precarious rock by a lake the other day & appreciated how i wasn't worried that i would somehow drop the cap into the water lol. the security actually becomes a helpful feature in certain contexts :)
Since watching this video for the first time, I have purchased the Liliput. It fits perfectly in the front pocket of my Lochby small field journal, which means I always have a fountain pen with me for making quick notes; given its size, this would seem to be the design intention. It is a joy to look at, hold and use. :)
i'm a recent Liliput convert. i draw with my fountain pens and my friend got me me a Liliput,as a gift. im a runt. Very small hands. I dont even need to post the liliput to use it. i now own 4 finishes. they are my go-to for a travel kit. Great nibs, wonderful in the hand, amazing quality and performance. Top notch. Great video. I love your channel!
Love, love, love my copper Lilliput! It has patinaed so beautifully and is fine for me to use without posting for short little notes. I have been tempted by the Supra for sure. Also, thanks to your rave reviews, I love my Brass Sport and carry it almost daily 🥰
Oooh I bet that is so wonderful! I really want to see my Liliput patina, but I haven't been using it much - I just love that darn brass sport so much, haha!
I always carry some sort of pocket pen with me to take notes and have 3 versions of the liliput. Love the size for my pocket and although the posting process can be a bit fiddly, these are definitely my favorite EDC fountain pens 😃
I’ve been eyeing other Kawecos (I have 2 Sports and 1 Student) and been loving your Kaweco Pen Thoughts series! Thank you for sharing your pen insights 💛
Being able to put in two cartridges is something my student fountain pens could always do. Or instead you could put in one of the long standard cartridges, but those were not as common.
I was also going to say that. I have a Kaweco Perkeo which fits two cartridges and my student pen from elementery school could also do that. I do prefer a converter, because it fits more ink and is beter for the environment
Thanks for the review. I'd love to have a Supra. FYI, there are other pens that can carry an extra cartridge in the barrel. One is the Aurora DuoCart (get it?), a pen first released in the 1950s that was supposedly the first fountain pen to house dual ink cartridges. Aurora has now brought it back and the homage to the original is a rather nice pen -- I have one. It's better than many other reproductions of vintage designs and it comes in some great nostalgic color schemes.
Great comparison! I would love to see the Supra come out in copper. You’ve pretty much convinced me the Liliput would be too narrow for me. Bummer, because I LOVE that green they’re releasing as part of the Kaweco Collection. 😕
It'd be gorgeous to see a copper Supra... or Sport for that matter, hehe. The green Liliput is beautiful! I too love the color, but will abstain. I like a larger pen as well.
I've had my eye on the Supra for some time. What seems to be a deal breaker for me is how the cylindrical components are not all flush when screwed together.
Yeah, that seems a bit of a bummer - although, I wonder if that was intentional. If the whole thing was one straight line it would be very difficult to know which end one is unscrewing without checking the finials!
Just purchased the copper liliput and brass sport based upon your wonderful review. I was unsure of the nib size as these are my first kaweco pens, I went with a medium (brass) and fine (copper). Watching your various videos made me realize how lazy and unimpressive of a male specimen I am 😂. Thanks for sharing!
Compared to Chinese knock-offs on Aliexpress: The Liliput copy is a bit larger that the real Kaweco. Some people can write without posting. A Kaweco pocket clip will fit the body rather than the cap. (No-one would want to do that.) The Supra copy is smaller than a real Kaweco. The real pen is more comfortable because of the increased width. The copy doesn't have a removable mid-section. Both copy pens are big enough to use a full sized converter. They are cheap enough to be try-out pens that let you see what you like before investing in the real thing. They convinced me that I really would like to buy a genuine Supra. (I already had a Lilitut.) This is the first time I've seen your channel. I just subscribed.
I love my Supras… the large nib is so nice and special in the Kaweco lineup. :) Don’t have a Liliput yet, but I ordered the Collection edition one in green… really looking forward to testing that pen out.
Ooh nice! I saw the green, its great. It be curious to know your thoughts coming from a Supra fan! The larger nib is really nice, I'm glad they did that for such a larger pen in their lineup.
one other advantage of the "supra" is the extension allows for not just cartridges, but a piston filler extension, so you can refil any ink at any time, not locked to this makers cartridge and ink choice.
I think if they sold the Supra without the middle section, it could then cut down on the cost. But also keep the option to buy it with the middle section. Wish I could use the Liliput. It's so stinking cute!
I’d love to see you review the Special and see how that compares with these two. I have the Special (in brass, of course), and it just doesn’t seem to be a very popular pen and I’m curious as to why it’s not as popular as the Lilliputian or the Supra.
I purchased the Special instead of the Supra because I thought it had more "eye appeal." I like it just fine, and also wondered, as you did, why it wasn't more popular and offered in different materials like the Lilliput (which I also have because it came in copper.)
I love my Supra. I carry it around in my EDC box everywhere. I keep the extension in the box too, but rarely feel the need to use it. Mine is Fireblue. I do like the Lilliput, though. And it's adorable in Copper. But I can't justify getting one.
I have wanted a liliput for a while, and they just released a special addition green, so currently waiting for my order in the mail, it was such a good deal, still tempted to save up for the fire blue supra
I've wanted the Supra for so long but I worry that it's still too small for me! My hands are so big that even the Sport feels small for longer writing sessions! I'm glad you compared the two so I can see just how similar-sized they are around the grip. Honestly though I see myself buying it regardless of how it might be too small for me, it's just too pretty, especially in the Fireblue!
I have large hands and the Supra fits me just fine. It's actually a fairly large pen. When posted it's so long the Jolly Green Gian could use it, and it has a fairly wide grip. It is not a small pen.
I've got the supra and following your suggestion I use Ancient Copper in it. Quite a nice choice, thank you. I got the nib in large but it didn't flow properly... too stiff... ? So I changed it for another size 6 Bock nib (not stiff at all + with a light flex) and the flow is happening just right. Have you ever had that kind of experience with large Kaweco nibs yourself ? I think I heard someone from « the Pen Community » say that a few years back... So I knew what to do.
Awesome comparison, I have never really looked at the Supra. The only two "modern" pens I know that have space for two cartridges is the Pelikan Epoch/Ductus and the Aurora Duocart. But the supra looks awesome!
I have a question. A dumb question. Does your hand smell like metal after you write for some time? I have a very sensitive nasal palate if that is even something lol. Certain smells are just hard for me. Metal is one. I love the supra size and I would love it at a greater length. I am not one who feels comfortable with smaller pens, although I have small hands. I love the brown ink. It is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I truly enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from you.
There’s definitely a metallic smell, although in the Supra it is much less than the Brass Sport that I have. I notice my hand smelling of metal for a little after writing with the brass sport, but not with the Supra. And thank you for watching my videos!
The liliput is a pocket and jot it down style travel pen that's not designed for long stints of writing, but mobility. When in its capsule form it's nigh indestructible. A real point of contention not addressed in this review is the lack of a piston style reservoir for the ink, but again this is a highly functional and utilitarian travel fountain pen; slim and reliable.
Hello and welcome! The Liliput, using a cartridge or cartridge coverter holds the same amount of ink. That being said, if you had a plastic sport eyedroppered - then the sport would hold a heck of a lot more ink.
Is Supra generaly speaking, better than the Brass Sport? I need one for 70%writing,30% sketching.I'm between Sport/Special/Supra. Which fits that role better please? I'd really appriciate anybodys opinion, I never owned any of them.
I really like the Lilliput...just waiting on a more rugged finish for it...and for whatever reason...the supra is just not for me.. its too bulky to me and I'm not a fan of it coming in 3 parts to extend it...😕 meh I don't know. I have tiny hands
@@fahmi7511 it’s hard to say, I think it really just comes down to the individual and how it feels for them, regardless of height. I know some very tall folks who love the Lilliput and very short folks who hate it, and vise versa!
I love, love, love my Liliput in copper. The patina is amazing and it is light, strong, and writes very consistently. I guess I like small pens overall though my hands are average in size.
Not sure about the shapes of these. They are so….straight. Might be why they aren’t so popular. I only have one Kaweco, a Sport with an EF nib, and it’s a good writer. I like the size and shape. It’s great for work, easy to just throw in my pocket. I think instead of these, I would just get a second Sport, maybe one of the metal ones, though I have just seen one of the new plastic Sport releases for 2022…the color is Iridescent Pearl and it’s sold out in all the US stores….because it’s so, so pretty. I surprised they didn’t send you one.
I have always been a fan of the style of the liliput but the lack of ridges - think the sport just throws me off so I will likely never buy it for that reason. I love my rose gold Kaweco Sport
I'm almost certain that "Liliput" is a play on the word "lilliputian," meaning diminutive, small, tiny, etc.
Oooh that is such an awesome tidbit! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to pin this. :D
Well of court, based on Gulliver's travels, Lilliput is the city with the tiny people. It's where the idiom comes from
Some languages have even adopted the word.
In the Dutch language we have "lilliputter" which is used to describe someone with dwarfism.
Thank you for this! I own a Liliput, and I have a viewer who is trying to talk me into buying a Supra. You didn't help talk me out of it!
Haha awesome! I'm glad I could help ;)
Lovely intro to a very informative video - very nice handwriting as well!
I really enjoy your pen/ink/journal videos. Thank you for creating them.
You are so welcome!

Seeing that Kaweco no longer has a converter that can fit the liliput. Have you tried or can you recommend aftermarket converters?

Storage for extra cartridge? Super cool, or should I say, supra cool!
Just wondering about the threads on the Supra as well, are they sharp?
Have you had the issue of your Supra draining all the ink out of the cartridge? I tried two different Supras and both did the same thing.
Do they make a clip for the supra?
Yes but seemingly only in bronze
