I got mine just 2 hours ago, just beautiful, nice and smooth in the hand, very easy on the eyes. It is an expensive pen, but I will be using it almost every day, so I think it is money well spent. Got a fine nib btw...
I own the liliput version. I love it but it is just not usable for everyday due to its limited ink holding capability. If they sold an extender to go from liliput to supra i would be thrilled.
I have a Kaweco Student but I can't write with it because the section is made of metal and it s very slippery. Do some of you know if I can buy a Plastic section compatible with the Kaweco Student so I can change it?
I love my Supras. I have the Brass and Steel and this is on my radar. If they'd have dropped a copper or titanium version I'd have bought it day one. (Just saying Kaweco..)
I love the Supra, but I would love to see some other variations of it. :) ...for example: • Titanium version • Oversized Titanium Version (especially this) Oversized? • pretty much exactly the same, but: • 2 mm thicker at every point (cap, barrel and especially the grip (grip: same general form, but thicker and a few mm longer) • 2 mm thicker and maybe 5 mm longer grip section • a No. 8 sized nib :D • I (personally ) wouldn’t mind the extra weight, the toughness is a perk for me
I own the Lilliput in fireblue. And I know the supra fireblue is somewhere in this house wrapped for Christmas. I can't wait to try it. I love the liliput. (And yes, i do sometimes write with it unposted because posting pens is just so wrong. So very wrong.) And I'm sure I'll like the Supra even more because it's got more parts to fiddle with. I don't like long pens. So my plan is to write with it in throat lozenge mode :-P
I acknowledge that the question was not posed to me, but I happen to agree. Flame anodization is a fairly easy process which on a pen that size would not take very much time. I don’t see how the price should jump from $85 for the base pen up to $210 for this version. I could see maybe $100, max.
@@Gouletpens It's literally a dude with a blowtorch just waving it back and forth a couple of times. The premium for this color is ridiculous. If they want it to be a limited edition, then they should say that there will only be x number of this color and that's why the price is nearly 3x what a standard color costs. I could buy two regular ones, strip the finish from one and get this effect myself. Even if I screw it up entirely, I'd still have two functioning pens and be out less money. Now, I'm a retired aerospace welder and I'm probably more comfortable working with stainless and heat than the next guy, but this effect is not hard for even a complete novice to achieve with $20 in supplies and tools from any hardware store. When the Diplomat traveler had this color scheme, it was only a small premium, $20-30 IIRC. That's reasonable.
Yeah, it’s the same process for creating the Fireblue effect, and similar overall design. The Supra is just bigger...longer, can take a converter, and No 6 nib! -Brian
So Kaweco adds an extra inch from the sewage pipe they salvaged for free to the pen and triple the price for it. Someone’s richness is due to someone’s stupidness lol
I'm trying to think of the last time I posted my pens. It must have been in ancient history; because, I don't have any memory of posting any pen at any time during the last 4 years. It is a pretty pen, though.
@@Gouletpens @The Goulet Pen Company Didn't know you guys grew up together! The camaraderie we see on the videos makes total sense now! 😄 We just get a glimpse; I.e. Fiddleability was emphasized to the extent that basic writing functionality was not covered. Personally, I want pens that write. I'll find something else to fiddle with.
This isn't true of all German nibs but for the kaweco nibs, they run a lot wider than Japanese nib sizes. For example my EF Kaweco runs about the same as my F Pilot VP/Capless and the other sizes of kaweco equate to a Japanese nib around one size larger. The kaweco nibs are very smooth though. I will say that. They've always been beautifully smooth and they flow very well. The only issue is baby's bottom in the larger sizes occasionally. That's mainly B or BB though. Every other size has always been spot on out of the box
Simon’s pretty spot on here, with a little nuance. So in Japan, most of the pen companies actually have a “medium-fine” nib size that’s in between fine and medium, but that’s not standard in Europe. So the mediums, broads and higher tend to be pretty identical across the world, but the fine, extra fine, and finer (if they make them) Japanese grinds all write thinner lines than their Western counterparts. -Brian
I have the superb Supra Steel which I love dearly. And that pen is priced just about right. This one, though very attractive and clearly well made, somehow seems rather over-priced. Btw, I detest posting pens. Seeing people post pens in videos makes me cringe, as does the obligatory reverse writing nonsense. The only pens I’m forced to post are the handful of Kaweco Sport pens I occasionally use. If I had smaller hands I wouldn’t even do that. A Kaweco Supra Copper would be swell.
It’s a huge jump in price just like the Lilliput Fireblue, and it’s all because of the firing technique. It’s time consuming, hard to do, and easy to screw up with no way to fix it. You’re paying for skilled handwork in the firing process, that’s why it’s so pricey -Brian
@@Gouletpens ...I fully understand. Still, the premium and mark-up on the price is just a bit too high in my eyes. Seeing it north of $200 is stretching it for me. It reminds me of the Diplomat Aero Flame which is similarly significantly marked up relative to the other Aeros in that series. The Dia2 remains my favourite Kaweco. Wish they made it in newer colors & finishes, more nib sizes etc..And that you would then keep them in stock for sale.
I also pretty much don’t post any pens, except the Kaweco Sports, not the Pelikan M300 though (because of the finish) and the extended Supra. :D I sometimes post my extended Supra(s) just for fun. :)

@@Gouletpens, a titanium version would be easy to chemically anodize. Make sure to keep the price reasonable.
A must-have for Doom fans.
