I have a brass sport and a brass space pen. I've had them forever and didn't accelerate the patina, I just let it develop naturally. They look amazing, and I enjoy them more than any others in my collection. Thqnks for the info, it's not for me, but it was truly enjoyable to watch. Thank you for the education.
Dave Yoder My favorite of the aged pens is the Y Studio fountain pen. The finished process has that well worn but cherished appearance this pen richly deserves.
I love my naturally patinaed Kaweco Brass Sport. I carry it every day! Out of the pens in this video, the Brass Fisher Spade Pen turned out pretty cool!
While I knew about the polishing techniques, I did NOT know about the rapid aging technique. Fortunately, I've been patient and have a marvelously patina-ed Karas Kustoms Fountain K pen. The ystudio Classic Revolve Fountain Pens has appealed to me for a long time and I would very much enjoy owning one. Thanks and good luck to all !!
3 things I saw in this video: 1. A giant Al-star 2. A giant Pelikan souveran 3. A neatly trimmed beard (fresh looks!). Next step is a bald head, to completes PBR's wishes. Oh this video is about brass pen? I think my pick for brass pen in this video would be the Ystudio
#1 best patina pen of above video is the raw brass fisher spacepen - please be sure to win that one to me :D The Kaweco Brass Sport has long occupied a spot on my 2nd-ish-Tier, Endlessly Peripheral Wishlist, never quiiiite cracking the priority threshold… until a couple weeks ago, when I finally pulled the trigger & picked one up. I like this pen a lot (I have a thing for brass pens in general). I was looking forward to a gradual, natural patina, but after seeing this video, I’m def tempted to artificially speed up the process. Thanks much for the video & info!
I have 3 of the Ystudio Classic Brass pens here in Green, Red and Blue. I love them and these are the 3 pens I now keep inked up with different inks. With each of them I very very gently use the supplied sand paper along the lines of exposed brass which makes no real visual difference but the pens feel so much nicer on the corners, othwise the corners feel a bit harsh in the hand to me. These `Ystudio pens are so well made and I love the deep rich coulours combined with the brass. My other fvourite pen (like Elizabeth Altchison in the comments here) is a brass Kaweco. Both Kaweco and the Ystudio have just the right weight and balance and are a joy to write with and handle. These are pens that are made to last and last. Great video and can see a lot of real effort went into making it.
The YStudio looks amazing. The fact that you can't reverse removing the lacquer makes it more special. Brass pens are really nice, I like the weight specially.
The Y Studio is my favorite of the bunch. I have a Kaweco and love the feel of the brass as well as the weight of the pen. It’s developing a beautiful natural patina. Thanks for sharing this video with us!
I've always loved the way that brass pens petina. My dad had a brass pen in his shop for years and it was amazing to see it change throughout the decades.
Thanks for the tip to accelerate the patina process. I do like how the Y Studio looks with some of the paint distressed. I use Brasso or Silvo to partially shine up my Brass Sport but leave the patina closer to the grip.
Very cool video showing ways to maintain or customize one's brass pens. Thanks for showing this! I especially like the look of the ystudio pen. It looks very cool!
I love the look of the ystudio. I've also been eyeing the Kaweco Sport in brass recently. Might need to take this video as a sign to just go ahead and get it.
I would love the Y Studio fountain or rollerball pen. I love your education videos - I have learned so much from FP nib sizes , inks , writing styles !
I like the Y Studio fountain pen. The way the lacquer was removed looks more like a design detail rather than a delibrate choice. I think it looks pretty great.
I'm leaning towards the Kaweco Sport fountain pen in brass! Very timely video as I *just* started doing research on brass pens! Seems like Goldspot read my mind! Great video and thank you for the great content!!
I think the YStudio looks the best, but the effect on the Retro 51 was pretty amazing. Tom, thanks for all the work you do for the stationery community. You are a great resource.
I really like The YSTUDIO classic revolve pen. It’s very distinctive in any color. I don’t think I would polish the lacquer off, but if I get tired of looking at it, I could polish it and it’s a new pen. Thanks for all the tips!
Yeah I think it's a really nice design between it being nice a draw brass and it being painted. If it were a brass fully painted and the paint wears off with use youd most likely see the part where you hold it wear out first, but not the reat of the body. Although eventually with handling the entire body would wear too but it would always start at tthe edges. So the design allows what's worn somewhere around the bottom half that you use most, but it would blend to the bare edges too. + it's just looks nice with a sort of gold line accent to it.
I really like the design of that ystudio pen. Usually youd get either full painted parts or bear material with these metal body. I like that they leave the edges of the hexagon bear so it looks better when the lacquer paint wears out from use. The wear blends better than say the entire body is colourd youd see the wear mostly on where you hand is when you use it but not the rest. This way the wear would kind of blend to the edges, which in someway speeds up the wearing process Because with enough handling the wear would always stary at the edge too.
YStudio brass fountain pen is top dog in this showdown. by far. they all look sweet but fountain pens are the cream, the meat, potatoes and dessert of the pen world. I've been eyeballing that fountain pen for a while. just trying to save up a bit more dough then it shall be mine!! i draw with my fountain pens so this beauty would be a cherished tool, in my hands. I do own a Kaweco Special, in black with a BB nib. i love it so much. when i first saw that faceted brass fp, it reminded me of that pen and how much i love it. Good luck to all!! Thanks GoldSpot!! 👑❤️🔥🥳💙👑
Robert Cherry The Retro 51is my favorite. It makes it another great pen. Love your video, don't know if they still make it but brasso was a great cleaner and polisher of brass.
They all look interesting and unique, but the distressed lacquer on the Y Studio takes the cake for me. Neat video - thanks for sharing your experiments!
I think the distressed brass on the Ystudio looks nice. Second would be the forced patina if the Retro51. Though I agree with you that it would look even better with more blue in the patina.
Wow this video was super informative! My favorite of the pens featured in this video is the Y Studio pen, really loved the look after some of the lacquer was removed w/the sandpaper...but they all turned out beautifully! Polished/clean or with patina...all gorgeous, thanks for the tips!
I mean, the ystudio has to be the winner, but they're all cool, and I really like the idea of brass for pen use specifically because of its antimicrobial-ness
So first things first, definitely keep the full beard!!! I’m also interested in learning the process of aging the pen, do a video! Both Y Studio and Retro 51 look amazing, I’d say the latter looks a smidgeon better but that’s pretty subjective.
Congrats, Ira. You were randomly picked to win the Ystudio! Please message me at tom at goldspot dot com (I spelled my e mail phonetically to avoid robo spam)
I think my favorite is the ystudio Classic Revolve, but the Retro 51 is nice too :) Looks like you put a Lincoln's clip on instead of another raw brass. I think that was a good choice. Seems to fit the tarnished brass more.
The ystudio brass fountain pen looks really beautiful to me as I like how you can see the brass on the edges of the pen. Also, I just like the overall design of ystudio!
Wow ketchup! Who woulda thunk? Thanks for showing us the tips for cleaning and giving them antique finish. Also, yes do a video to show the clipectomy please.
Nice Video! Citric acid (e.g., lemon juice) also works well to clean patina. If you want to add patina in a controlled manner, liver of sulfur is how a jeweler would do it. When working with copper and sulfur compounds, wear safety gear. My favorite pen is the Kaweco Sport.
My favorite brass pen is the Kaweco Brass Sport. A great pocket pen I don’t have to worry about damaging.
I've used Brasso on my Kaweco Brass Sport with good results, and Brasso is commonly available in hardware stores. But the ketchup trick is a good one!
The YStudio looks so nice. The lacquered sides and worn edges that reveal the brass remind me of Urushi work.
I prefer the Fisher Bullet Space Pen -- honestly, I've lusted after this pen for quite a while.
Great video! Thanks
I'm a fan of the Kaweco Sport, very interested in the ystudio now though.
Kaweco Brass Sport is my favourite of the ones demonstrated.
I have a brass sport and a brass space pen. I've had them forever and didn't accelerate the patina, I just let it develop naturally. UA-cam comments spelling corrector: 'thqnks' should be: 'thanks'. Thanks for tolerating.
I think the ystudio is the one that looks best. It looks classy and vintage, like something you would inherit from grandpa or an uncle
For me, the coolest is the Kaweco Brass Sport! Thanks for the video, very helpful advice!
Dave Yoder
My favorite of the aged pens is the Y Studio fountain pen. The finished process has that well worn but cherished appearance this pen richly deserves.
Brass Pen: like fisher pen. I also liked my own Kewaco brass sport AL.
The contrast of the brass against the worn green lacquer of that ystudio looks so good.
I love my naturally patinaed Kaweco Brass Sport. I carry it every day! Out of the pens in this video, the Brass Fisher Spade Pen turned out pretty cool!
I have both and I love them!
I like the brass showing though on the Y studio. I appreciate the information shared in the video. Thank you.
I love the looks of the Kaweco sport Brass. Looks so sturdy.
Love the ystudio because you get brass and color.
I love the way the Y Studio looks with a little sanding!
I love how that Retro 51 roller ball came out. Beautiful colors really.
Love the facets of the ystudio pen!
While I knew about the polishing techniques, I did NOT know about the rapid aging technique. Fortunately, I've been patient and have a marvelously patina-ed Karas Kustoms Fountain K pen. Oh this video is about brass pen? I think my pick for brass pen in this video would be the Ystudio
I love the patina on the pen, makes them more interesting in my opinion. Great video as usual.
#1 best patina pen of above video is the raw brass fisher spacepen - please be sure to win that one to me :D

Thanks much for the video & info!
I love how the Retro 51 came out, though I would never be brave enough to try that!
I have 3 of the Ystudio Classic Brass pens here in Green, Red and Blue. I love them and these are the 3 pens I now keep inked up with different inks. I love that Y Studio pen. It looks so natural like that. I would love to see how it ages.
The YStudio looks amazing. The fact that you can't reverse removing the lacquer makes it more special. Brass pens are really nice, I like the weight specially.
Neat video. The two brass pens I've been considering are the Traveler's Company brass fountain pen and the Kaweco Sport brass.
I have the Retro 51 in Brass and Copper, so now the Y studio is on my Wish List! Love metal pens!
Pen chemistry! Love it! That YStudio pen has been on my list for quite some time!
The Y Studio is my favorite of the bunch. I have a Kaweco and love the feel of the brass as well as the weight of the pen. It’s developing a beautiful natural patina. Thanks for sharing this video with us!
I am IN LOVE with the look of the Classic Revolve. The brass shining between the lacquer looks almost like a star pattern to me.
I've always loved the way that brass pens petina. My dad had a brass pen in his shop for years and it was amazing to see it change throughout the decades.
I dig the Y studio pen, but they are all pretty cool! Nice experiment!
The Y studio pen looks absolutely gorgeous and the wearing looks so natural!
Thanks for the tip to accelerate the patina process. I do like how the Y Studio looks with some of the paint distressed.
I use Brasso or Silvo to partially shine up my Brass Sport but leave the patina closer to the grip.
The fisher space pen in brass is definitely a very good looking edc!
Very cool video showing ways to maintain or customize one's brass pens. Thanks for showing this! I especially like the look of the ystudio pen. It looks very cool!
I like the Kaweco Brass!
I love the look of the ystudio. I've also been eyeing the Kaweco Sport in brass recently. Might need to take this video as a sign to just go ahead and get it.
I think the Retro 51 looks the coolest. Honestly the whole process of adding patina is pretty cool. Thank you for all the information!
The Retro 51 Tornado pen - Raw Brass looks the coolest! This video was so informative.
The ystudio classic revolve looks very nice! Thank you for this giveaway!
I realy like the understated look of the ystudio Classic Revolve Fountain Pen.
They are all cool, but the Y Studio is the one I am hoping for.
Retro 51 is the best design. You guys do a great job merchandising.
I would love the Y Studio fountain or rollerball pen. I love your education videos - I have learned so much from FP nib sizes , inks , writing styles !
I love the ystudio how the green lacquer contrasts with the brass. It gives it an Art Deco look. Pretty awesome color match tbh.
I like the Y Studio fountain pen. The way the lacquer was removed looks more like a design detail rather than a delibrate choice. I think it looks pretty great.
I like a lot the ystudio Classic Revolve Fountain Pensm such a different style! thanks for the amazing video and the amazing GAw!
I'm leaning towards the Kaweco Sport fountain pen in brass! Very timely video as I *just* started doing research on brass pens! Seems like Goldspot read my mind! Great video and thank you for the great content!!

The Retro51. I collect them and this would be a cool addition to my display.
The y studio pen looks the best . Haven't had the chance to own a brass pen , they look awesome , have to try one !
I’m a fan of the y-studio pen. It has that old-tiem pencil shape I think looks very nice. Great video, thank you!
I like the Ystudio the most. The green and gold color mixture looks absolutely stunning!
I LOVE the green YStudio. That is the perfect amount of wear for me!
I really like the design of that ystudio pen. Usually youd get either full painted parts or bear material with these metal body. Robert Cherry
The Retro 51is my favorite. It makes it another great pen. Love your video, don't know if they still make it but brasso was a great cleaner and polisher of brass.
That y studio looks amazing. Its rugged and industrial but also kinda classy.
I prefer the Y Studio. It looks a little more like "wear". Great video, love my Kaweco Liliput in Copper. Be safe and be well!
Kaweco has some nice brass pens
YStudio is the one I'd love for sure! My favorite brass pen features the weight but not the appearance of brass - Pilot Metropolitan!
I like how the ystudio classic revolve pen in green came out!
the one that i like is kaweco brass sport.
I love the ystudio brass fountain pen. Definitely the coolest of the three.
I am a fan of brass fountain pens the studio looks good to me. Thank you for the video
I think the ystudio Classic Revolve Fountain Pen is the coolest, hands down!
I like the Ystudio pen. I think that sanding it in a way to make it unlike any other is pretty unique.
The Fisher Bullet Space looks best. I think the durable nature of brass pens works best with an EDC pocket pen like the Fisher.
I prefer the Ystudio all the way. It's a beautiful green and you've done a great job sanding off the polish in a stylistic way. Thanks
I think the ystudio classic revolve looks the coolest!
Wow this video was super informative! My favorite of the pens featured in this video is the Y Studio pen, really loved the look after some of the lacquer was removed w/the sandpaper...but they all turned out beautifully! Polished/clean or with patina...all gorgeous, thanks for the tips!

Really like Retro 51. I have a roller ball as well as a pencil.
If I am chosen, I would like the Y studio fountain pen. It looks pretty good they way you have sanded it.
No question the Ystudio pen is the coolest.
Congrats, Ira. You were randomly picked to win the Ystudio! Please message me at tom at goldspot dot com (I spelled my e mail phonetically to avoid robo spam)

The ystudio pen is beautiful in green 😍 I love the customization possibilities with it.
Thanks for the content and very informative. The space fisher pens and y studio looks the coolest
The aged retro 51 tornado is the coolest one to me.
I like the Y studio the best. The contrast design looks like it was meant to be that way.
I love how the Y Studio classic is worn on the edges!
For me, the best look with that finish is the Retro 51, but I would like to do the experience in the Y Studio.
Love the look of the Y studio, looks smart.
I specifically enjoyed this video . Ystudio looks very nice.
I think my favorite is the ystudio Classic Revolve, but the Retro 51 is nice too :)
Looks like you put a Lincoln's clip on instead of another raw brass. I think that was a good choice. Seems to fit the tarnished brass more.
I’m fond of that worn look on the hexagonal corners of the ystudio Classic. The forced patina looks a little radical =)
That Pelican lamp is so cool.
I like the way the Y studio came out
The Y studio one just looks so classy!
The ystudio brass fountain pen looks really beautiful to me as I like how you can see the brass on the edges of the pen. Also, I just like the overall design of ystudio!
Thank you so much for knowledge about Brass
Wow ketchup! Who woulda thunk? Thanks for showing us the tips for cleaning and giving them antique finish. Also, yes do a video to show the clipectomy please.

I do like the looks of the Ystudio distressed lacquer over brass.
