Caterpillar D9H In 1974, the improved 410 hp (310 kW) D9H was introduced to replace the D9G. The D9H is still the most powerful conventional track-type tractor in company history. The DD9H and the SxS D9H soon followed. In 1980, the 460 hp (340 kW) D9L was introduced. Built in Caterpillar Building SS...East Peoria, IL
It's going to be entertaining to follow the refurbishing of Your latest acquisition Jeff. I've been watching Zach build His completion rig, He is another amazing talent. Best Wishes to You, Your Family and Friends for the Holiday Season !
That's a clean old dozer. Lot of potential. I've followed Zach for a while now starting with his Pete camper build. He's a Hoot. The only problem I see now is, we need three more of you to get all this iron going again. Tom
AWESOME WALK-AROUND, I think ???? you are ready for "CHRISTMAS BREAK" as we called it when the ground started freezing in MINNESNOWTA!!! YOU got a lotta iron there for the dollar!!! (AND) it ain't tired scrap iron....... THANKS FOR THE VIDEO TOUR JEFF!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
That 9 h looks like a great start very good start and the price gives a lot of working room for sure you can’t buy a machine built like that today at least not in my eyes that will be a go get it done rig great call and a fun repair I would love to help but I don’t retire for two more years so free time is short right now if you no what I mean Take care stay safe
Hi mate love your new addition I wouldn’t mind owning the old girl myself will be looking forward to seeing you restore the old girl love it can hardly wait good luck to you mate and all the best
Hey Jeff, it’d be nice if it was just a fuel knock like maybe one of the nozzles are bad? One nice thing is you can just take the side covers off and reach in and wiggle the rods around without having to mess with the belly pan and the oil pan. If you do end up needing a crankshaft, a buddy of mine had a brand new one still in the wooden box I’d have to check and see if he still has it. They know you they said they called you and talked about the color paint on old Kenny because they painted one of their trucks, the same color 😂👍
Looking forward to the awesome videos that are coming. Maybe Union Pacific would haul that 9 of Matt's to you to Pocatello cheaper than a truck? His did seem pretty clean.
I don't think UP would haul it as a piece of equipment, but maybe they would take a load of dirt. I don't want a cat that's been on a train. LOL these are AI generated responses that youtube places under your comment clyde so I can choose which one to use lol
Mr Paydirt the Mrs might find a way to block the Richie Brothers from your phone . 😮😅😅😅😅😅 lol. Looks like another great save by Anderson Construction 🚧 . 😅😅😅😊😊
Thank You Sir.this 9 looks promising. hated to hear about the knock.but with 2others or swap engines ya got hope.thats a h of alot cheaper than a new headache or newer disaster.just makes me tired to rember working on kill dozer.but she is a go get her an a dirt digger.watching you work on her I wished I was closer to help but my wife makes me take out the trash.she says no.i can sneak out the back.hope your weather cooperates so you can kinda catch up on projects. I think Mrs.Paydirt likes the blue car.take her out for icecream.take a break.yer overdue.
Hi Jeff, You always have cool videos.🙂Hope we have another winter here in eastern PA like last year, none of that white stuff. Everyone there stay safe.
thanks Jeff. I paid $12k for a D7 17a. its a worn out old man, but I love the cable blade and i can think back to my youth when i used to run one doing land clearing. I looked at a 9H recently here in Oz. $92k!!!!! no cab or ac, we didnt seem to import them with cabs for some reason. it will be good to see what you eventually do with your new one. might be another "project" that will outlive you like most of mine will.
Old Iron cannot be duplicated, as to the shit they put out today! This is going to be fun and a lot of work for you but I am proud of what you are keeping up and not letting weather away ..... My Hat is off to you sir! 👍
Very cool! I love Cats machines and have been addicted to yer channel since ya started. 46A, 92V and 10Ks were always the Cats I guys owned when I was a kid and got dozer fever. The big ones are just too cool but not really any around Cali yer channel has been great discovery to watch and learn about the business of movin dirt and maintaining these mech beasts! Fascinates me! Zachlife is a GREAT CHANNEL and easily one of coolest guys on "the toobs" Merry Xmas Paydirt and thx fer keeping Old Mechanical CATS making ya money! Cheers from Santa Cruz! Justin Nunneley
there are lot of D353s in drilling yards still. They were popular engines to power mud pumps on the rigs back in the day. I worked on some in the 80s. They were easy to work on the skid compared to a dozer lol
Jeff, Are you sure you wanna do this 🫣. By following you off and on I admire the old school ways, it’s how me and my brothers grew up. The refurbishment of that D9 will be a Lille bit of a challenge as a result of its age. I ran a small fleet is the 8K’s they’re very similar. You might be happier in the end by moving to a late 9N or 9R much easier to work on and easier to find parts… oh yeah and much much easier on your back to run. Good luck from Chris I the Communist state of Kalifornia
I know I've told you before but my high serial number 66a has the same left side alternator and fan drive as the H. It even has the big barrel tilt cylinder. The fuel system is definitely different.
Mr. Paydirt, love the old iron especially the old dozers. What is the basic plan for the dozers? All Operating , parts dozers , and what about the 7? Just curious sir! The videos are great, keep them coming please!
Ok, I’m losing track of how many D9’s at the Paydirtarosa. You now have 4? Killdozer, the one you are getting ready to pull the engine out of, the one that’s only good for parts, and now another 9H? You have enough projects. I’m older than you (72) and I’m worried I can’t get my stuff done before my demise, and I have way fewer projects.
So wait a minute…are you telling me you bought us another project machine?? With all of the other unfinished projects around the yard? I’m okay with that, a man can never have too many projects, gives him something to look forward to.
Really like you channel, i have been following for many years,. But I must have lost track on the D-9 that sits outside of the shop, I know you need to pull the engine and got the crane to do that work. But what is your plan now for that D-9, is it an H too or a G?
Your accountant could start you a 501C3 not for profit JPaydirt D9 museum dedicated to making old almost disable men like me happy being able to visit and climb over all this equipment.....of course you have to have a salary for the CEO position. 🤔
You can turn one into a pushcat with one of those narrow push blades, or buy an old pull-behind 463 scraper can and tow it behind a 9 for fun. Just keep the cab closed up, don't want any more trash pandas nesting inside.
ua-cam.com/video/ZkZNc9LGsmo/v-deo.html Zach's video, go watch!
@@Jpaydirt i watch a bunch of his stuff too. I really enjoy learning how the little guy does oil. It simplifies it. And he is a great teacher.
Thanks for the shout out Jeff.

Your definitely collecting some tired iron but I love the oldies thanks for the update Jeff 🎈🎉😎😎😎
Excellent! Glad you are home with the equipment before the snow. Look forward to your next project.
Thanks for the video Jeff. I always look forward to watching your adventures. I appreciate your efforts to take us along

Good purchase!! Hopefully there’s no surprises. Old iron rules!
Pity Matt lives so far away bro his D9H seamed to go very well and was a single shank, liked this video anyway. Safe travels y'all. Ken.

This is awesome. Can’t have too many D9’s around.
Thanks for sharing this video. Lot's of information about your dozer's 👍
Can't wait for another series of great videos of your newest project Jeff.
Intentionally hydro-locking that Cat engine was an epic Zach Life moment...ZERO f**ks given. Love it!

UP is not in business to move things. They only have an interest in giving easy money to share holders.

Looks like Mrs Anderson will be receiving something nice for Christmas this year. 😂

You are making me want to another D9H! Sold mine several years ago and have regretted it ever since.

Major score. As you say, if the crankshaft is trashed it’s a treasure trove of parts.
Congratulations, sir!

Hope you put cosmolie coating on the new wire rope on your yard crane . . . you will really need that unit.
Ohh my Zach is such a character as regards to industrial machinery .... Need many more Zachs on Utube
Awesome buy. Noticed this dozer has a tiny fuel filter on that assembly. With it that small wonder if it helps..
Jeff I think you made a good decision, parts are expensive, and speaking for us, you get "no longer available". You have parts now ! 😜
Merry Christmas Uh nice looking old Dozer I used to run a 8K out in California Man that thing had some power

Everybody is going to have their own D9 🤘🇱🇷
Seems like it’s worth the money for sure!
Smart move buying some spares for parts Jeff especially with the quality of “new” parts declining
You can never have too many! 😊
Looks a good buy mate
I know I've told you before but my high serial number 66a has the same left side alternator and fan drive as the H. It even has the big barrel tilt cylinder. The fuel system is definitely different.
thanks for taking the time
#TheZachLife is one smart dude and fun to watch too!
Good used parts in your back yard are worth their weight in gold, almost.
Awesome Jeff👍
Great buy, miss working on them

Wow what a score. What about rewelding the bad crank journal?
This is looking more and more like an intervention may be needed. Lol
Happy Daze are here again. There are more Niner restorations videos coming.
Also, to see a single shank rootin and tootin with the switchblade turbo.
Phosphate mine dozer is for parts?
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Jeff.
So wait a minute…are you telling me you bought us another project machine?? With all of the other unfinished projects around the yard? I’m okay with that, a man can never have too many projects, gives him something to look forward to.
Been waiting for this
So which h are you going to do first the one you pulled the cooling pack off or the new one
That D9 of Matt's is really nice. I saw it. I think you all be able to make a nice one. Is the 353 in your parts doses good.?
So what’s the first step after getting it to the shop….pull the engine?
you need to change your name to D-9 paydirt ranch😁👍
I'm in India for a bit. Not sure if I'll ever come across a Cat shop but I'll keep my eyes open for stickers.
I hope you find some cool stickers!
Was thinking of you when Zach bought the cat someone baked it by never changing the oil.
J Paydirt's Home for orphaned D9 Bulldozers.
As always,thx Jeff

Wagner Cat … I know a few guys there from there old school shop . Send me a close up of the tag .
Hey boomer! It needs a CB radio…😂#oldguysrule
Way better than 3 million for new d11
No working equipment is every "done", everything is always ins a process of deterioration 😢
Have You got the Zeppelin sticker up?😁😉
Unrelated to your new 9, why has the FW not have the bale and bumper on her? I noticed it a few videos back and didn’t think to ask.
John #3 or the Filthy Whore has a bail, #1 doesn't have a bail on front because it's a 65M series and the other two are 79P series
@ oh! Still a 37 just no bail.
isn't Zach in Oklahoma ?
nope, Texas
Jeff we gotta talk?! Lol
Bargain at that money. Sorry, hv lost count- is that 4x9s or is it 5? Meep meep!
You can turn one into a pushcat with one of those narrow push blades, or buy an old pull-behind 463 scraper can and tow it behind a 9 for fun.
