    Nice one DB I'm glad you got it off without damage or injury to yourself. Tough job!

    Nice one, you’re getting through the engine strip pretty sharp. I thought that flywheel was on for keeps lol👍

    Verto flywheels are great fun to remove aren't they, I'm surprised it came off with that lazer puller as they normally break, I use a minispares puller, its brilliant, I also use my rattle gun on the puller bolt as well, it usually takes me less than 10 seconds to remove a flywheel with that, also, if you do take the flywheel apart to check or replace the clutch then it should be re balanced afterwards, great update though 👍

    I’ve never done this either, I have read you can take the washer out and put the bolt back in a couple of turns to stop it falling to the floor. Great work as always mate 👌🏻

      Cheers mate, yeah that would be the most sensible way, luckily there was no damage caused

      @@DBMiniDIY i wouldnt that as it puts the wrong pressure on the threads and could damage the crank

      Exactly the method I learned. Then the assembly can't fly off and cause damage / injury, They always break away from the taper somewhat violently.

      @@markpiper8082 Valid point. The bolt certainly certainly needs to be screwed back in more than 2 turns. I wind in as far as it will go then back off 2 turns.

    I'm sure this job caused some perspiration. I have to do this on my Cooper rebuild this winter, so thank you for this video to show what a struggle it can be. Is'nt there a recommendation to orintate the flywheel before removing so that the Primary Gear C Ring does'nt drop & jam the flywheel ?

    Hello. Wonderful as always. Did you put it into TDC before using the puller? The flywheel puller instructions from MiniSpares refer to TDC as step 1. I'm doing this with the engine still in the car. Who needs knuckle skin?!

    Hi
    As the title says, it was to remove the Verto clutch - But, this was removing the flywheel as well as you would do if it was a pre-Verto clutch.
    I have never done a clutch change on the Verto clutch but assumed that the clutch could be replaced like other cars without removing the flywheel.

    • @DBMiniDIY
      @DBMiniDIY  3 роки тому

      There are differences, different arms at the slave cylinder, different bearing and clutch is attached slightly different with bolt formation.
      The assembly needs a puller to get it off as its on a taper

      @@DBMiniDIY The reason why I watched your video, is because I thought I was going to have to change a friends clutch and I wanted to be aware of any changes to the procedure with it being a Verto 180mm clutch and hoped it was going to be quicker by not having to remove the flywheel - (as it turned out, the slipping clutch was due to the thrust bearing shaft seized in the cover)

      @@DBMiniDIY If you put the flywheel bolt back in without the keyed washer and pull against the bolt head, it can't fly off. You won't damage the threads in the crank.
