hey guys, i had trouble with this at first (read: ripped all four petals), but it helped when i started counteracting the pulling of the petals with the push of my thumb in the middle of the origami, on the side where you're also holding down the pinch. try imagining youre trying to push in on the pinching side and pull the petal. it also helps to fold the petal up while you're pulling it out before pulling directly upward! hope this helps
It depends on the kind of paper you are using and how well you work with that paper. Try the Japanese made paper that has a fabric feel to it. Art stores also sell handmade paper that can have fibers in it like the Japanese paper seems to have. These have more flexibility. The oil in my hands sometimes makes paper more flexible.
Did this! The difficulty maybe level 2 but it was really hard trying not to rip the paper on the last part 🤭 After my 3rd attempt using a thinner paper, I was able to do it right. Wasn't perfect tho but that's fine 😊 Thank you for sharing this! Going to do more for sure 👌🏼
Wonderful vid! Been buying bunches of differing origami paper from our local DAISO store; amongst my most recent purchases was a pack of very thin, almost tissue-like paper one could still see some random fibers in! I was successful on my first attempt last night and my second attempt today...did some experimenting with other kinds of paper, but the very thin really did work the best! Don’t let its delicate-ness fool you! The earlier mention about this sort of fibrous paper being more flexible is correct! THAT being said, it really is key to still go slow with the pulling. Be patient; let the paper do the work!
If you guys having trouble with tearing the paper, my trick is to open the both side that you trying to lift the pedal up and then bend forward the 2 side and fold it back
Dear Paper Kawaii, I love this video, with Valentine's Day coming up I needed decorations. I chose to do flowers, but most of them were too tricky. Your video helped me a lot. You are amazing by the way.
I can tell this is much easier than the other origami lotus, this style makes it quicker and faster, the downside is that you need to be precise when creasing the corners and sides
It was really fun to make this. I tried another lotus making video but failed but yours, i got it right on the 1st try!! Obviously i ripped from a few places but i just taoed it a lottle since i am not willing to use another paper haha. Anyways loved this video
The trick is to apply force equally on both hands, and keep pressure to the center. Be strong and steady, but slow. Do it right and it'll smoothly roll.
the second set of petals that you fold up went up too easy for me and they're flimsy while yours are firmer, i did everything else right i'm not sure what's going on with this step
I did the same at first! So the thing is that when you put up the first set of petals, don't make the edges (the part where the petal rises from the base) a pointed corner. Look at the video and how they have kept the base slightly slanted/flat. Then slowly pull up the second set of petals. When you turn over the lotus to see the base, it should be closer to a circle/octagon instead of a square
I ripped the paper but found out that it's better to fold it a lot, I mean like all the way not forwards but downwards, if that makes any sense 😅, great content I subbed.
your videos helped me alot when it comes to origami . Some origami videos fast forward it so i always have to pause and do it then unpause but your videos are slow so i was able to do it along with your video
If you color the parts that will touch the water using a crayon you should be able to. The wax from the crayon will repel the water and keep the paper dry. :)
I once saw a restaurant folded their table napkin into lotus like this and put into a soup bowl. I was so impressed I didn't want to unfold it so I ended up eating without napkin that time xD Now I know how to do it, I can recreate it any time I want. Just for a fancy feeling for dinner ;)
I need more instruction at 4:40. What are you doing exactly? My paper rips, but it looks like i"m doing exactly what you are doing. Please, what are you doing?
+Alishia Phillips Yes, the paper can rip, if you are using paper that is too small, too thin or not strong enough, it can rip easily, try and get origami paper that is 20 x 20 cm. When you pull it, remember your not pulling it out, but over to the other side, hope that helps :)
Nobody: Everyone: watching the video normally Me: vibing to the background music and counting how many tips and notes she had left us on the side ;-; all I can say is that I’m an alien :)
I don’t get what everyone’s complaining about. This was my first time doing this and I didn’t tear the paper at all. Albeit, it looks pretty wrinkly and ugly but it didn’t tear!
I JUST GOT STRESSED OUT. at 4:00, my paper gets really rough and thick to the point where i cant bend it. AND THATS WHY IM SO STRESSED OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I liked how you used a patterned paper so I can tell how to get the patterned sign on the outside. I made it inside out from another video maker. Can you make a pig?
By the time I got to 5:30 I had to take a break to go punch something I was so frustrated but it turned out terrible. Looks so easy. Time to try again with bigger paper rather than the 5*5 or so inch I used. Warning: DO NOT USE A FIVE BY FIVE PAPER ITS NOT GONNA WORK VERY WELL
I found out the strategy to fold the flower petals where everyone is ripping them. You can see that they bend the tip of the petal in whenever they're folding it. You want to let some space out, so you want to space it out with your finger a bit, but not enough to space out the tip folded part. Then you do the fold thing. I don't know this worked for me.
My first few tries all ripped but after some practice i got it! It helps if you lift up the paper and bend it a bit before pulling

Lovely with a battery tea lite inside. I make these for tables for birthdays and other holidays...RWB for patriotic tables.
video: don't rip the paper
the paper: I'm about to ruin this man's whole origami
Then the paper does not have good grammar. It is a woman not a man.

All I can say is you are either Jesus or a freakin' wizard if you did this without the paper tearing

Same it ripped it is annoying
use kami from a japanese store
dude thanks for leaving this comment. I need new paper, the paper I'm using is some cheap Korean dundermiffline crap xD
I used really thick paper and tore a petal
O o f
Otherwise all fine ;-;

This method works perfectly with paper napkins - the larger the better :) A nice touch to the dining table :)
5:16 I like the goku part 😂😂
Ha ha ha that's what that is

+Joji John Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful! :)
"dont rip the paper" well I'll get screwed now
What kind of paper did you use? Yours seems really flexible. Loved this video! Thank you!
lol I think I dislocated something in my hand after pressing down all that paper
use rock, it's effective
I cannot wait to see if my hands will work tomorrow morning
Such a lovely origami, seems so simple...totally fools you!
I started doing these with napkins they make nice table decorations :)
R.I.P paper (it ripped like 500 times)
haha i see what you did there
Really? Well The Trick Is You Have To Pull The Petals Gently.
wow! very nice craft ,,,,,,,,,,,,, and beautiful video ............like this,

I try to do most of what you're shooting very nice videos.

Thank you so much for this video! i really liked it and i also did it it turned out great!
Chrissy do you know where to get origami for cheap. Because I love origami but I'm not allowed to get lots I have like 5 sheets left
Wow ... so talented i love it
your videos helped me alot when it comes to origami . Some origami videos fast forward it so i always have to pause and do it then unpause but your videos are slow so i was able to do it along with your video
Yayyy, i did it. It is not as beautiful as yours but its still very cute! Thanks for the tutorial. 💗🌺🌷
The best way I’ve found to pull the petals up is just to slowly tease it, it takes some practice but you just have to get used to it
Wow, I wonder if you could float these little flowers in a bowl of water..
Beautiful!
If you color the parts that will touch the water using a crayon you should be able to. The wax from the crayon will repel the water and keep the paper dry. :)
That sounds awesome! 💐
That is right hehe
I would actually try to make it out of tin foil so i could put candles in it
SongoftheLute if someone made waterproof paper, you could it would be beautiful!
What's the size of the second paper in the middle
This is so beautiful , like all of your projects
Thanks! 🎀
+Paper Kawaii your welcome , just stating the truth
You make it look so easy 😆... 😭 it’s so beautiful and I want to make one for my love 💔

Super work Chrissy ✌🏻️✌🏻✌🏻
Thanks!! 🐸💖
4:35 WHENEVER I TRY TO DO THAT IT ALWAYS RIPPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW COME YOURS DOESN'T???????????!!!!!!!!!!!11
Two words
Be Careful
A tip, try to not use SMALL PAPER and don't be firm with the paper...
Pull slowly, try to not be forceful.. you could try unfolding the paper a bit and letting the layer come up then refolding it a bit so it shapes it
It’s called magic
It is called origami paper
which kind of paper do you use?? Because each time i try the paper get ripped.
Wow! This one is way better than the one we did on our channel.

Awsome. Nice pace to learn at. First lotus I've seen like this Good job. .
It would help if thin paper was recommended, as well as a larger size piece of paper than suggested.
To put it into the lotus leaf what size did u use?
what kind of paper is best for this?!?!
I’ve already tried twice to copy this, but I’m having trouble folding and avoiding any tearing.
I did it !😄 my hands hurt
What type of origami paper do you use?
which size of paper did u use?I am confused because in the video there was written 20×20 cm but in the description you wrote 21×21cm so plz tell me
It's because I couldn't remember, but either size is fine :)
Thank you for the video. Most useful and very beautiful. ^_^
if I use 15cm paper, how big should the small paper be?
Nevermind, I got it.
so beautiful and cute paper kawaii

Aww thanks! 😀✨
awesome videos! Thanks a lot ! :)
my heart:try another me:no i love it
This is impossible to do. I have tried to make 7 now and the paper ALWAYS rips. Do you have special paper?
Thank you! I liked how you used a patterned paper so I can tell how to get the patterned sign on the outside. I made it inside out from another video maker. Can you make a pig?
Mine didn't turn out so good.... :'(
Aww, maybe give it another go? Maybe use bigger paper 🙂
I've got the hang of it now :) Thanks :)
this is super cool i love ur all videos & of course can we use 15×15 paper ????
+hafsa siddiqua Yeah, might be more fiddly though! :)
oh OK thanks
this was a interesting fold it was great
best origami ever
FIRST TRY LETS GOOOOOO
Awesome thank you!
By the time I got to 5:30 I had to take a break to go punch something I was so frustrated but it turned out terrible. Looks so easy. Time to try again with bigger paper rather than the 5*5 or so inch I used. Warning: DO NOT USE A FIVE BY FIVE PAPER ITS NOT GONNA WORK VERY WELL
too late
It is too good it's awesome great
Were did you get that amazing paper???
It came with a book, I'm not sure which one, but I wish I could get more! 😥💕
+Paper Kawaii Yeah,it s really pretty and it fits perfectly the lotus theme.
How do you do this without ripping the paper?!
I just start to learn origima al though been interest to it in long time even since I was child..
I've done ur other tutorials for this and the paper kept ripping
Yes it can do that, hopefully it won't this time? 🎈
i can guarantee that if you have the right origami paper it will easily come out! just try changing the paper, if it's too thin it will rip
Open the fold up and just fold into the curved shape, then fold back down and adjust.
what is the name of the paper what the your use
I found out the strategy to fold the flower petals where everyone is ripping them.
You can see that they bend the tip of the petal in whenever they're folding it.
You want to let some space out, so you want to space it out with your finger a bit, but not enough to space out the tip folded part.
Then you do the fold thing.
I don't know this worked for me.
💚💚💚ดอกบัว. สีชมพูวางใส่ถาดใสๆๆ💦💦🌟กลางโต๊ะ. มุมไบประพาส เป็นหลัก💜💜💜
that was pretty cool I just couldn't get it on the first try
Im on attempt number 6 i just csnt find thin enough paper
I did the first one good. Second? ... SECOND?! (second R.I.P)
Where do you get your paper
+Dmitri Moua check out my blog post answering this question :) www.paperkawaii.com/2016/01/04/where-do-i-get-my-origami-paper/
It's great but I can't do the flower bit without it wripping
same.. -.-
I've ripped mine before as well, very upsetting, but if you keep trying, you'll get it eventually 🙂💕
Thanks for tutorial
If you just admit failure, you can make a mini fortune teller
when pulling the petals tore aww
Thanks for your helping with your origami
tried this on 90 gsm tracing paper... not a good idea. the paper was too stiff and the petals tore when i shaped them
so i did it again with a cloth-like paper (not linen paper) and it's really nice :3
YAY I DID IT!!! I DID NOT RIP DA PAPER!!! I MUST BE THE CHOSEN ONE!!! (sarcastically)
