I made these a few years ago for friends for Christmas, send then used battery tealight 'candles' to put in the centres. We still use them every year. This year, I'm going to try with translucent paper and see how it goes...
Wow, great tutorial, and great looking lotus!! I've even managed to make this from 3" square kami paper. Also, if you don't have a binder clip handy (I didn't), a clothes pin works as well
very nice, i love it but, next time try not to use anything other than paper, as origami is the art of using only your hands and paper, no cutters, no rubber bands, no glue, etc. :)
thank you for your constructive feedback however I am not following any strict rules with the things I make.. therefore I will continue to use rubber bands, paper clips, scissors, glue and any other thing I choose to use. :)
paperkawaii no problem at all, your work is still very good i feel, keep it up !, im a electronic music artist and ive been doing origami since childhood, and then in the past 8 years ive been doing electronic music, good to see these tutorials :) if you need any background music, feel free to ask me :)
I did a large (I think 18" square, poss 24" square) traditional-chrysanthemum-pattern blue-and-white washi-paper Chinese vase, you know dakine, now am trialing flowers for mom's day this Sunday, hope this works out for me!
I used 4 white rectangles, 4 pink ones I think! I also made one which had 4 white, 2 pink and 2 gold which looked lovely. When you place them on top of each other, just make sure they are all in the same order, green, white then pink. ☺
You should not cut the rubber band after assembling the lotus. I made this a few years ago but with a wire instead of rubber band that i took off afterwards, and the flower just fell apart, since the rubber band/wire was the only thing that was keeping the flower petals and leaves together.
the paper I use for the tutorial comes from a $2 origami craft pack from kmart!… the paper I used for the one in the photo at the start is pearlescent origami paper that a friend sent from Japan... ☺ x
at first i thought, " what in the world is she doing?!" but later my mind went like "DAMN! genius! she is awesome!" . hats off. i mean it
That is the prettiest origami lotus flower I've ever seen. Your tutorials are so easy to follow and peaceful. Keep up the wonderful work! Thank you.

it looks really cute and easy, so I'll try it and see what happens!
The nail polish is great! It helps me to see what your hands are doing - seriously!
Haha! Thats cool, glad it helped :)

Wowww so beautiful....you are fantastic
I have to show how to make an origami without words. This is the one I chose and now I love making them:)
This is amazing. I think it is better to use a thread or a cotton tie instead of a rubber band, because rubber bands dry out and snap.
I love this. It's easy to make.
Thanks

How many rectangles do u need to make the multicoloured one? I want to try that one :)
I used 4 white rectangles, 4 pink ones I think!
I also made one which had 4 white, 2 pink and 2 gold which looked lovely.

thanks! I made one and it looked awesome
Can you cut the rubber band after it's been fully assembled? It seems strange to have a rubber band inside of origami.
