How is this being released by IGN when they rated the game a 6.8?! 🙄😒
The collective world can't afford it need more resources.
Ign: Gives the game 6.7
Also Ign: Does daily videos of people praising it
Hail hydra
Oh no, IGN isn't trying to project their viewpoint on everyone else, let's.. complain about that..
Coalminds.com It’s not complaining, just seems awkward. Ign is like “i am not a big fan of this game.. oh btw here’s a video about someone praising this game in my youtube channel”
IGN is a group of people, so things may vary when they have independence at certain degree.
nah your seeing it wrong. 6.7 is the truth, its a crap game but that doesn't mean we can't talk about it from different viewpoints. still a crap game.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this game gets game of the year and I also wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t
Schrödinger’s GOTY.
Yeah this game also deserve GOTY but i know some people really dont like it and it's not mass like Sekiro or Re2 So if it turn out they dont win i still understand about it
I like to think of this game as a summer blockbuster film directed by Ridley Scott.
i feel you
True lol
"Kojima-san"
Nice, Dr. Miller.
Was delighted when I heard him say that
Coincidentally he has a character with the last name of Miller.
When I play ds further into the game, I find out why kojima made the game like this. The road is like what you do in life. It is repetitive and difficult. And when every body did a little helping. The journey could change drastically. Kojima made games for a long time. To make us feel the sense of connection through helping each other, he made the game like this. There are struggling sacrifices, but it is necessary. He know how game could be just played fun. But he decided to go further and beyond.
or ya know maybe the gameplays a little boring
@@poopusmcfartus302 or maybe its just not for you bro

@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat can you at least state what made it garbage in your opinion so you don't look like a dumbass whining on youtube?
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat so you needed youtubers to tell you if you liked or not the game, and didnt played it yourself, alright buddy, you are just one more of the already big pile of morons who cant even make an opinion for themselves
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat Angry Joe give it 7
and that isn't bad score dude
When a movie director can review a game better than any "Game reviewer" your industry might be a joke.
Yeah you know he's reviewing mostly the story part of the game right? So much so he said on the beginning of the video that he just finished watching Death Stranding. Not playing it. The game must be reviewed as a whole and honestly the gameplay seems crap and it should be called out for it even if the story is amazing.
@@CerberusDawg that's why I said SHOULD. I'm not reviewing the game, neither I will, I just stated that IF the gameplay is crap as it seems and as so many people say it is, it SHOULD be called out for it, regardless of the story and regardless of Miller's opinion.
He's reviewing it as a movie, not a video game. As far as i remember, most game reviewer never ( mostly) review the story itself and only focus on the gameplay (Which isnt much).
But hey it's great to have another perspective of something.
@@gabzsy4924 He thinks it's a movie, because it is. It's movies with some walking/crawling between them, like the last MSG game.

It's not about understanding. It's not hard to understand. It's just a preference thing. Not everyone likes infinite jest, but it's still a great novel.
FFS as if
I understand that I don't feel it. Does that count?
George Miller fully understands this game. His experience in filmaking makes him see and catch things many people can’t.
............No!
Before the game came out Kojima said that this game would connect more with artists and creatives. He was right.
MJ C aghhh that makes so much sense. No wonder why I enjoy it so much. When your creative the unorthodox gameplay and design is more Interesting then playing the same mindless aim and shooting the masses appeal too.
Which is a failure from Kojima's side wouldn't you agree?
@@ShiuliKhalarVlog No it's not a failure because he did exactly what he set out to do.
Accomplished filmmaker George Miller expertly praises Death Stranding and delivers an in depth analysis of the creativity, ambition and symbolism of Death Stranding.
Upset gamers: *No noo NO! It’s a walking simulator with no other perspectives worth looking at. You walk! That’s all you do. Me right, u wrong!*
Opinions are opinions, but show a little intelligence.
PublicEnemy-1
I wouldn’t call it an “in depth analysis.” It’s a back-of-the-box blurb sort of thing.
They follow a bandwagon and think it's cool to hate on something, I get it that some people may not like it but you can at least respect that it's not for you and move on with other things. There's better things to do than complain about a game you will likely never play.
Well there are some of us who do appreciate the story, the creativity, the symbolism of this game, but at the same time find the gameplay boring. I haven't played it yet due to me being PC only but knowing myself, I know I will love this game at the beginning but will soon get tired of all the walking. I don't hate the game, I actually appreciate it and want it to be successful, but the gameplay is just not for me. I'm glad there are others who love the entirety of it tho, because I'd hate for Kojima's vision to go to waste. (English isn't my language, so sorry if my grammar is dumb)
I doubt George has played the game himself... so he’s opinion doesn’t apply to the gameplay
R J Here’s the thing. George, Kojima and most creatives have patience.
That’s why Kojima himself this game would connect with more artistic and creative players. So I’m sure if George indulged himself in the gameplay, he’d find a way to cooperate with it. He’d probably think of the gameplay, and the walking as a blank canvas.
I want to see Kojima's face when he first saw this.
Picture him with a big smile.

If and when Kojima ever makes his first feature-length film, the pressure on him and on that film to be great will be immense!
Pressure creates diamonds 💎
Jordan Vogt-Roberts of Kong Skull Island is doing the Metal Gear film; he's friends with Kojima-san, and is an NPC with dialogue in Death Stranding.
i bet right from the start there will be lots of haters anyway.
@Glen tennis this is true. Plus Nicolas Winding Refn is also a director, and he's amazing so if he's in this game that gives me hope that eventually we'll get a Kojima film project directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Guillermo Del Toro, or Nicolas Winding Refn!
Its funny how he is now going to be in Death Stranding 2
Some find explosions and action boring, saturated, tedious and eye rolling, yes really. And so of course some feel the same about DS but act like explosions and action is the assumed desire for everyone, which is ridiculous. But that’s why some think it’s undeserving of praise, because they don’t realize *less can be more*.
But Some find walking, running and climbing through vast open landscapes fulfilling. It’s a subjective matter, this game is not for those who require something of great magnitude happening every second in order to not feel bored.
Then again, boredom is a beautiful thing. It forces you to be creative and reach out for for something that engages you. Boredom is a rewarding challenge if you have the patience to cooperate. That’s Death Stranding for you, it’s a lesson.
Yup.
agree
Yup this game isnt for the pew, pew, throw a bomb every 2 minutes group of gamers
Boredom is what link rewards together, if you are on ahighway of bliss it might get boring very fast, spreading out the rewards just make the rewars more impacting, hell I have not been hyped up for virtual likes since my middle school facebook era.
Would love to see more stuff like this IGN, this was pretty cool. Regardless of anyone's opinion on Death Stranding its great to see another Artists take on this medium we all love. I am sure we can come up with some more ideas, right people?

"Even though you're alone, you're following the paths of complete strangers and yet somehow they have an effect on you" - this was the greatest part of the game in my opinion and I think it will be the defining feature it's remembered for years from now. Well, he didn't say he played the game, he said he saw it. There you have it.
Sometimes you can't put a rating on a masterpiece
I don't believe that could be stated any better.
And now I want Miller and Kojima to make a Mad Max game.
I was on the fence till I saw the Tokyo gameplay video and realised what the experience would be. The loneliness and desolation of the world juxtaposed with the weird online elements where you don't see anyone but you feel their presence nevertheless. Ladders, ropes, etc. The realisation that others have tread these paths and still others will come after you; And how you can also help and be useful to them. I nearly welled up the first time I saw the words, a path you laid down was used by someone else. Amazing. The world is barren but barren by design because it shouldn't be anyway else. You can't capture that loneliness and desolation with a ubisoft type open world. Plus we the players get to populate it.
Yesss! what other games have done this? None that I can think of. This is why the game is a masterpiece it has so much depth. People that can’t see past the tree to see the forest hate this game. I know this game will be a inspiration for other devs to make better games.
@@Lilog007 I mean it's meant to be an inspiration but when the likes of IGN try to hurt potential sales with garbage reviews then what happens? Publishers play it safe and don't take these chances. Games and gamers suffer. Like you said, they can't see past the tree for the forest.

@@faithconnors368 You might, but how many others do? I like the game part, and I don't see a problem with the game being fun to a niche audience, but I think the problem is how it was marketed. Kojima did say that the gameplay was different awhile ago, but he also said Uncharted and Division fans would like it (both games have bigger fanbases that are more into pure action). Also Sony was always marketing it as a huge exclusive, as if everyone should buy it, and as if everyone would like it.

The brilliance of it all is that despite it being a love it or hate it game it gets people to talk about it in depth. Miller beings up a lot of key elements in a creative process. We all walk the same paths and can interact with each other through structures rather than face to face player to player contact.
this makes me thing G. Miller want to adapt it in making into the big Screen !
With hideo kojima of course
It basically is a movie already

Playing this on PS5. It's an amazing game. Maybe my game of the year
Death Stranding is a game that satisfies the player in a different means than most games. It satisfies the player with the connectivity of others and the helping of others rather than the selfishness that most games typically give the player. I think Kojima has made a radically different game, that while everyone may not enjoy or love, it needed to exist. It needed to exist because we as players, as people are given the same sort of thing day in and out and something like this is the gaming equivalent to 2001 a space Odyssey, in the sense that in pushes and changes the conventions of what a piece of art can be.
We are now in a reality where IGN posts videos of George Miller calling them shallow.
you should hire George Miller to review all the games here since he doesn't want to make a sequel to Fury Road anyway.
That only depends on Warner Bros. And lately George Miller got in a lawsuit against them for production problems, something about the box office money...
But he is currently working in another movie: "Three thousand years of longing", with Cate Blanchett and Idris Elba.
There's a guy whose field of expertise is getting "taken over" (not really but I'm missing the correct word) by a japanese man who doesn't even make movies. Now he could rant about how this isn't what it used to or should be and that a story should be told in about two hours, but no, he is actually liking it and praising the guy for exploring this medium of story telling.
Keep an open mind, people.
I would be honored to play this game right beside this great director.
Death stranding was a really well made sci fi surreal experience.
Completed Death Stranding yesterday. Story, characters, sound, atmospheric world. Absolute perfection of a game, but also I can agree on the game-play criticism. It's weird
It's not necessarily wierd but more of unrefined for a foundation of supposedly "new genre" as Kojima himself proclaimed to be in his past interviews regarding the game's very core mechanics with players' agencies on it, I personally found Hidetaka Miyazaki and Fromsoft games nailed Kojima's vision way better in execution of both narrative and gameplay intertwined than Kojima himself
@@ohamatchhams i don't know why you would compare these things. They're really not that much alike.
I agree, but somehow I still found the gameplay very enjoyable. I think the heavy criticism may also be due to Chapter 1 and 2 of the game. To many (I felt the same somewhat too) it seemed like a bad first impression of the game. Still, it’s my GOTY though.
Love this game, now..lol shortly after chapter 3 it picked up and everything started to make sense. I picked up the gameplay mechanics more and it helps to enjoy it. I get why some people have a hate on this style of game, it's not for everyone. There's AAA titles, and then there's Kojima 🙏

I don't doubt that these are Miller's genuine thoughts on the game, but find myself wondering if this was some kind of Sony promotional video. This wasn't a random interview in which he happened to praise the game in passing. The entire video was about how Death Stranding is an Important Work of Genius, filmed in a very slick way. He took the time out of his life to accomodate this film crew coming to film him promoting the game. We're not supposed to think about how someone found out George Miller was the world's biggest Death Stranding fan, got in touch with him, and arranged to film this.
George should play Fallout, love this man
IGN’s way of apologising for the review they gave about Death Stranding.
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat Ur opinion is garbage. No apology needed.
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat So you need other people to validate your garbage opinion?
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat Did you even played the game? Otherwise your opinion has no value at all. Simple as that
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat I'm amazed how you're so worried about this game to keep responding to every comment that implies praise to it.
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat Says the guy with such an account name, lol
VIDEOGAME 2.0
We are trained to hate boredom, so we try to avoid it at all cost: that is why all games are about being engage at all time with new stuff that are thrown at you...but being bored open a door and this door allows new energies to come in, new awareness, being alone is one of the pleasure of life and a passage without which we miss part of the experience to be alive. This game make you observe your thoughts as you have the time to do so....for some is like a torture as are not ready to stay alone with themselves, but they are missing out an opportunity...This game is absolutely a masterpiece: there is a wonderful bond between you and the character in the virtual world....the game opens a gate and invites not the player but you, yes, you. A masterpiece that will only grow its status....this is the first videogame 2.0.
Given his early love the film, I think Kojima must take great pride in having his work praised by the renowned film director.
