      I would even go further..
the reason that for example the 2008 Celtics, LeBron era Heat or KD era Warriors were successful, is exactly BECAUSE they also worked as functioning teams.. with not only the stars but the entire rotation coming together to form a cohesive whole..
that's the beauty of team sports..
even if your opponents are more talented/skilled individually, you can still be the better TEAM.. in fact, you MUST (try) to be.. otherwise you'd have no chance of winning..

I agree on your main points....the Suns roster, as constructed, is not very good. And there's nothing they can really do because they're in salary cap hell and have basically no tradable draft assets.
But it's also worth noting that a lot of these other teams in the west, because they're so young, are gonna be a lot better next year. Even if Minnesota or OKC did nothing in the off-season and just returned the exact same roster, they're gonna be way better just because they're so young. Mavs have some good young guys that are only gonna get better. And don't even start to think about where the Spurs are heading.
But Phoenix....? This is as good as they're gonna be. This was supposed to be the year. Honestly, i would blow this team up. Get whatever draft capital you can for Booker and Durant and start over now.... either you're gonna suck for the next two or three years....or you're gonna suck for the next decade. Might as well cut your losses....

The Suns are going to toil away fruitlessly for the next two years until KD becomes a Free Agent and leaves/retires. It would make absolutely no sense for 38 year old Kevin Durant to re-sign or extend with that team unless there appear to literally be no other options (which means his ability will have declined) or he's just settling for the money (which would mean an extension) as they seemingly have no way to improve unless some of their bench/role players dramatically step up.

Beal has no trade clause and his value on the market is way lower. As such, they must trade Booker for pieces that are better fit for Beal and Durant. Small note: you should’ve mentioned what the Salary Cap is. Because I *think* it’s $190M, which means $150M is A LOT. But for some reason in my head I was thinking $290M which makes $150M a lot less.

If the current suns team actually played fundamental basketball and took care of the ball (low turnover) then they might have finished higher in the western conference standings. I’ve been in the trade booker wagon myself but I think this team is still talented enough to beat anyone. The problem is that they don’t seem to care at all.

  • @justinmartin1831

I get why people say the trade for Beal was bad. But the team really had limited assets to improve after trading for Durant Nobody wanted CP3 contract either and if Suns wanted to upgrade they had to take on another bad contract. Who were the Suns realistically going to trade CP3 and some 2nds for? Unfortunately Beal had to be traded for out of necessity. Im sure the Suns would have preferred different options but this what the best scenario available to upgrade from CP3. The Wizards had new owners and were clamoring to get of Beal. Thats why this ended up being Beal, Paul, and Poole getting traded. Its all bad contracts being traded.

The Suns still won’t 49 games in the Western Conference with Beal and Booker missing lots of games. Vogel is a terrible coach. New coach, move Beal to the bench, get a real point guard and try again. No reason to panic and blow it up yet. Suns don’t benefit from being bad until like 2030 as far as drafting players goes so a 1st round exit is better than bottom feeding.

    if I may..
the Suns' problem was obvious from the start.. they are/have no team.. it's as simple as that..
therefore, and that may be controversial, giving away CP3 was a mistake of comical proportions.. the lack of a playmaking PG, or any PG for that matter, to tie the individual pieces together was striking over the course of the entire season..
you may not like him.. but it can't be denied that with CP3 the Suns made the Finals.. without him they get swept in the 1st round..
by the Timberwolves.. who btw are a TEAM..

Booker is just so overrated and I dont mean it any disrespectful way he's the epitome of the word overrated, this brother goes missing when it matters the most on top of that he speaks off court a lot of bs while backing any of it when he is on the court, so glad Edward's humbled him just like Luka and Giannis did.

Superteams work when everyone is friends. Miami worked because bron wade and bosh were all buddies and got along. KD was coo with Draymond Steph and Klay for a few years. No, bron and AD not a superteam ... Need at least 3 stars . Most of these other superteams teamates don't rly like each other it's not really their choice . They all got traded not FA signings . BKN harden was traded not FA . Team flopped . Same thing in PHX . Teams were dumb and gave up way too many draft picks and absorbed horrible contracts. Whoops !

Let's see. A Basketball TEAM. A Basketball team. A team. 5 guys on the floor at all times. A Basketball team consists of 5 players, correct? And a bench? What is a bench? Ohhh, that's OTHER players that are on the TEAM. And these other players get on the court and play the game when one or more of the starting five players need a quick break/rest? The Phoenix Suns are not a Basketball Team. It's 3 players. No bench. No depth. NOTHING!!!!
