Hey! Thanks for stopping by for my silly mini-skein baby blanket story 😆 Be sure to share any tips you have for using up mini skeins or yarn scraps. I always love all your brilliant ideas!
Thanks so much for the link to Pacific Knit Co. I had no idea she existed. I even got a free pattern. I am 75 years old and this is my colour work year and when I go someone will inherit a pile of handknit cowls!😂😂😂😂
This is a great lesson in not all people love the same thing. I would have been thrilled with the pastel box arriving at the beginning of December and being knit during that cold dreary month - while in summer I wouldn't have minded the greys. 😃
Love your “how to make a $300 baby blanket” presentation! I would have never imagined coming up with that solution BUT oh my! It turned out beautiful and love how you moved right into Plan B and made it happen. I have trouble thinking outside the box! 😂
I could totally see myself accidentally making a $300 baby blanket if I got a yarn advent in colours I don't care for! As for stash busting, I have a long standing project using all my superwash sock yarn leftovers. It is the Bits and Bobs Blanket by Kay F. Jones. You can hold two strands of the fingering leftovers together to make a DK weight or hold one strand from your stash and one reasonably priced commercial yarn in a neutral colour together to give it a different marled effect. I chose the latter using a light gray colour. For mine, its toning down the colours a little to give it a water colour effect. It is still a work in progress and sits beside the couch in the living room and gets worked on when I am there watching tv. I've also held coordinating yarn double to make mittens or wrist warmers for gifts. Thanks for a lovely episode!
I like the pastel blanket! But I get that those colours are not everyone’s cup of tea. One of the advents I purchased last year, I like the colours individually but I don’t find it to be very cohesive so I’m thinking to hold it double with a strand of white mohair to make a super fuzzy blanket. I think softening the colours with the white will help them blend together a bit better.
So true!!! I've seen some luxury minis used as designs within a pieces, like a scarf. I like that idea. You make me LAUGH!!! I do like the cowl. Maybe i should crochet one. I dont knit. But I'm still enjoying your videos and your personality!!! TFS! Austin TX USA
Minis have only entered my life twice. Once in a Christmas sock set -which I have yet to knit as am learning how to ‘properly’ knit socks. Second time was when drawn to a box of Scheepjes cotton minis - they were so adorably looking, but no idea what to use them for. However when Arne&Carlos brought out a square each day as project knitting during covid I was sorted, so was good to go, and all while stashing busting!!! Your collect look fab Nicole
Actually I did the ten stitch blanket in a bulky yarn And it’s gorgeous! I also made it a 15 stitch width. New subscriber here and enjoying your episodes highly.
That is a very beautiful lapgan. Babies won't rightfully appreciate the cost of it. Currently saving up on good coloured scraps for a marled scrappy sweater. Looking forward to the end result. Considering I use sock scraps for my sweaters, my near future is all about selfstriping white/mostly blue socks😅
You have explained brilliantly why I do not order advent calendars. With something that expensive, I wanna know exactly what I’m getting. Although I would be fine with pastels, my dread is earth tones which I avoid like the plague.
Right! If you love and are open to all colorways, then a mystery yarn box would be great fun. However, if you’re fussbudgety like you and I, not so much 😋
I don't like stashbusters. I like yarn saving projects like lacy, lot's of wholes to make the project gigantic. But I like the idea of marling. And the ten stitch blanket I've tried before. Such a funny story for the bougie babyblanket, you could still use it as lapblanket when sitting in a rocking chair or give it to someone in a wheelchair? 🤔
I just found double pointed tunesian chrochet blankets, those don't curl like normal tunesian and the colourchanging effects are amazingly simple. But takes a lot lot lot of yarn 😭 Of course you'll know when it happens 💗
I hear people all the time talking about using mini skeins in blanket projects. I have thought to myself...How can you justify knitting that much $$$ into a blanket. I would have to use big box yarn or Indie yarn scraps for blankets. I do not think I could gift that kind of $$$ unless it was a grandchild or a loved one. How about using your $300 blanket as a lap blanket for the car?
@@Knicoleknits Yay! It is a beautiful blanket even though they are not your colors. It looks like you have a lot of followers. I do not know why I have not heard of you before UA-cam recommended your channel. I am happy to have made the acquaintance. I am going off all of those really large channels anyway. It has been wonderful to find like minded people in the virtual world. I learn from you guys as well.

You are so welcome!

I'd have have 2 cocktails for realizing how much I spent for just a baby blanket!!!😂😂
Ha ha! Love this 😂
I absolutely love that Easter blanket lol

Thanks so much for watching!! I do throw a bit of crochet content in now and then 😉

I got a mini for a toy sweater and now I'm like "wait what do I do with the rest of it" so this is a very good guide to have

beautiful cowl. i love the idea of the cards too.
Amy Palko yesterday on her podcast has a Scottish highland long or short version like your winter cowl. Interesting too. Looks so intimidating.

Camel stitch? Hmmmm … yes, that would work on my scarf really well! 😊

It's waiting patiently to go to the right home. I'll know it when it happens 😊

Thinking of it as a lap blanket instead of a baby blanket has given me some ideas...thank you!!

Save it for a grandbaby! It'll be a drop in the bucket of what you will spend!
