+MopedOfJustice He's saying that UDON's work for HD Remix just looks worse altogether compared to the original spritework by today's standards. Just looking at the 2 or 3 frame backgrounds really highlight it, the HD graphics match the original SF2 stuff frame by frame and it makes it look awkward as fuck.

Aged would imply that HD Remix looked good in the first place. Choppy animation makes sense for what they're trying to do with the original frames, but that doesn't excuse the tracing, the bad anatomy, horrible shading, inconsistent proportions, artifacting, etc. It's even worse in comparison to it's contemporaries in terms of fighting games with large sprites: Skull Girls, Guilty Gear, KoFXIII, and the like.

I wish they would take the effort to just include at least one more new characters. I know that would mean getting Udon to do artwork for those characters too but I think it would help this game out greatly. As neat as it is to have Evil Ryu and Violent Ken their inclusions feel pretty sparse on effort.

somany5 Yeah, a lot of the launch titles look fun to me, but they feel like they should be $30-$40 dollars tops, not $60. Then again, I'm a believe that devs should charge whatever they think their game is worth, and if they think it's worth $60, more power to them. I dunno that I'll be buying it at that price if it'll be lacking in stuff to do apart from from versus, though.
That being said, game looks awesome in my eyes, and has the mind games of a proper fighting game, which is what matters the most to me. Plus it'll have the option to be played with tradition controls, which is nice. Just hoping they'll have at least double the characters when it launches, and some fun single player modes as well. Some ring out stages would be nice as well, as the gameplay system seems to really award spacial awareness.

Here's hoping the close to mid range game is promising. Otherwise it's a zoning game with retractable fireballs.
people get the impression it's a cheap demo kinda game when it isn't. many didn't see the Treehouse event cuz this game looks fantastic and competitive. and you can even play without the motion controllers. people are quick to judge!
sj conker Actually, punches beats grabs. If somebody goes for a grab, you simply punch their grabbing arms away. The game very much plays by old school fighting game rock-paper-scissor rules: grabs beats blocks, blocks beats attacks, attacks beat grabs. With of course some nuance added in as well with character strengths and weaknesses.
Kind of sad for Max. Wish he was as excited for the Switch as other people. I am still buying the console; Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Odyssey and several games. Can't wait!

I'm really glad they added Buddy Battle. My dad and I love to play Street Fighter together, and when I showed him the trailer, he freaked out because this was one of his absolute favorite games when he was a kid. I'm super psyched for it!

Yaeven Well, in Capcom's defense, Violent Ken has been a heavily requested character in a SF game for years and years now, and in honor of the SF2 animated movie (in which Violent Ken debuted) *and* SF2's 25th anniversary, why wouldn't they wanna give the fans what they want by adding a heavily requested character like Violent Ken in the game? Plus, Evil Ryu is insanely popular too.

This is going to be so freaking awesome. Preorders placed. Switch netplay is flawless and free this year too. Pro Controller D-Pad is the best on the market and I love the all digital shoulder buttons also. Definite SFII version for sure and probably highly competitive. I can wait for that Predator Arcade controller from Hori for a while.

Didn't see the stream but he really doesn't care for a good number of Nintendo IPs. These include splatoon, Pokémon, xenoblade, etc. As much as I love Max, he really should stick to criticizing only fighting games instead of genres he hardly explores.

weirdly the analog sticks work really well for me on kof98. I've never been able to use analog sticks for fighting before but the switch sticks are amazing. i think it's because they are so small.

Except for specific games, arcade sticks are digital and use micro switches (instead of contacts like a dpad). They're both sticks but function differently.

Well that's just personal to you I guess? But that's strange. You don't even hold or use them the same. But it doesn't feel the same to me. An arcade stick is much more tighter. and deliberate with it's motions Like how it's locked into the eight directions while an analogue stuck is much looser to accommodate all directions.
So you mean clicky? I hate clicky sticks and feeling like I'm locked into a position unless I use a ton of force, plus the noise annoys me. Old school arcade machines weren't clicky, they were smooth, that's what I meant by analog.
I know it isn't a traditional fighting game in terms of controls, but what did you think of ARMS?
I love this, it seems like no matter what they do with SF2, Capcom will never be satisfied with it:
World Warrior: Can we make the boss characters playable?
Champion Edition: I'm not satisfied with it, can we speed up the gameplay?
Hyper Fighting: The roster is too small, let's add some more characters!
New Challengers: It's not enough, let's add super moves and a secret character!
Super Turbo: Let's remake it with HD graphics!
HD Remix: Let's add two more characters in!
And so on! lol.

i never liked the idea of dark or evil versions of caharacters. its like a lazy way of adding choices to the roster. instead of making new characters just change a detail or two on a preexisting one and it will make the roster look bigger.

I hope this gets ported to other systems and in a disc release. I know for us older players it throws us off from the game we all know and love, but the fact that for almost 30 years since SF2 came out it is still being improved on to this day. It's mind blowing really.
My only issues is if the price is to high and would it kill them to make new sprites for V.Ken and E.Ryu?

So to review, you were livid because you thought the game would be HDRemix, a ST remake with hd graphics and small character balance changes that was intended to be the definitive version of SF2, but your okay with it now because it turns out this is actually a ST remake with hd graphics and small character balance changes that is intended to be the definitive version of SF2.
I personally suspect this game will fail for the same reason HDRemix did, because people will always consider ST the definitive version and changing anything but the graphics is viewed as sacrilege by a large portion of the community. I actually quite liked HdRemix, and its my favorite version of SF2... but I'm not excited for this at all. I felt like HDRemix was enough, if you want to make another 2d SF game, go for it, but make something new, leave SF2 alone already...
for someone that is just getting into the scene this is nice i was never able to play the old versions of the games as i was to young i think its more for young kid that were never able to play. i hope it bring a lot more people to the scene

I don't know but i'm really starting to get tired of reading the same stuff whether it's here or anywhere online, about the the Switch. basically all i see is:
Nintendo Switch --> Less powerful than XONE or PS4 = a PIECE OF SHIT (people seem obsessed with raw processing and graphics power)
People seem to dislike the idea of third party exclusive games on the Switch because its (Read above) piece of shit. I bet if this game (USF2) is exclusive for the Switch people will try to bring its value down like many are doing now, however if the game would have been announced for the PS4/XONE, people would be praising it or at least giving it less crap than now.
Now as a Computer technician myself, the Switch seems to open new horizons on the game experience, those joycons believe it or not are from a technical standpoint quite innovative, but yes that doesn't matter because people wanted a powerful system.
I'm gonna take a step further with all this, most of the greatest intellectual genius(Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Etc) people mankind has ever known, came up with new innovative ways of seeing thing, of thinking and you know what happened they got laughed at for thinking out of the box for taking a different approach at things(Nintendo anyone??), because everyone stayed in the same frame of mind no one dared to think outside of the box. Those people that mock the Switch today are doing the same thing that people in the past to someone like Albert Einstein for example.

Things I spotted that make me happy.
V Ken has the CVS horizontal air tatsu that E Ryu had in the CVS games (unsure if V Ken had than in SVC Chaos) I really liked that and am happy to see that return. Hope E Ryu has that as well.
It looked from this that E Ryu has two supers. I saw him get stuffed out of the startup animation of a Shinkuu Hadouken. I may be wrong, may have been a Demon startup. However in another video there were two guys trying to do Ryu's super doing double fireball motion, reading it off of a move list. They kept getting teleport. Very strong indication E Ryu has two supers.
Curious why E Ryu has the Collarbone Breaker if his F+MK is also an overhead.
I really want Gief to get his old throws back. They axed them in Super (probably to free up ROM space for the new characters) and I really miss them. I feel like he has really lost something without them.
Sad to see stored supers gone.
