    Paying CLOSE attention... taking mental notes!!! Need to better understand this temperament because I'm pretty sure this is my boyfriend to a T!

    This has blown me away. This is my darling husband (of 44 years!!). I am melancholy… just working through the personality temperaments. I always wondered why I go back to the ‘default setting’ of feeling a bit alone and a bit sad, even though I am very happy with my life!!?

    I specially liked your explanation because you talked about the core needs of a temperament, and I haven't seen anyone talk about it... and it makes a huge sense for the phlegmatic! But the sad thing is that in our society, when someone is quieter, people tend not to include the person...

      Thank you Igor! You are right about how people treat phlegmatics. That is why I want to bring awareness about it. Thanks for your support!

    This is super helpful! I watched the video of the choleric (I'm choleric). My SO is phlegmatic. This explains so much as to why we argue about so much, have so many communication issues, and why I simply can not figure out how his brain works.

      @@rachels.9602 Greatest struggles are always the temptation to just think about myself and "do me". In marriage or any committed relationship, there must be an attitude of consideration of partner first. Tips to do so are growing to know and better understand your partner so you can have a better connection point with them

      I am also a true phlegmatic, and based on my experience, the only girls I enjoy spending my time with are cholerics, this is the temperament I can really bond with and enjoy my time.
      I hope you guys will keep having a healthy relationship, good luck!

    I am new to this idea of temperaments . I myself am a Christian that shares beliefs mostly with Independent Fundamental Baptists so I take the Bible as a primary place where I find the truth from . That is why I rarely discover these new ideas especially from psychology because of all the new age stuff .
    But this idea was taught by one of the professors in my school , and it actually seems to have some truth in it . The problem that I find with new age ideas like Astrology etc. is that it is always like something too vague that could really applied to anyone , like "you like to be happy" etc.
    But when I see where would I fit in these temperaments , it takes some pretty specific descriptions ( but also on totally different topics ) they all seem to fit me perfectly fine ( for phlegmatic one ) . I am most definitely a phlegmatic ( since when comparing me to other temperaments , I can not find myself equal to more than 5% of what it describes ) . People who came up with this idea of temperaments seem to have nailed it , it actually makes sense .
    Also the professor was only mentioning 3 of temperaments and I do not know what they were named , but for the one that seems to be phlegmatic he has mentioned that they are usually skinnier , with lesser developed breasts ( both for female and male ) and slightly bigger heads . So does physical look also affect your temperament ? Also he has mentioned that phlegmatic usually like the topic of death and that they really do not feel attracted to alcohol and smoking while others are primarily the opposite , and it also describes me perfectly fine , I never drank before even though all of my friends did and I really love the topic of death and what happens after it , so is this also a trait of phlegmatic ?

    My husband and I just took these assessments and I find them sooo interesting and helpful.
    I am phlegmatic and I’ve been trying so hard to be more extroverted lol.
    I have a question though, can ADD cause you to have a certain temperament?

    • @drjuangarcia
      @drjuangarcia  3 роки тому +8

      Hi there. ADD affects focus and ability to concentrate which does not have to do with temperament. Temperament deals with how you are naturally wired and whether you process inwardly or outwardly (introvert or extrovert). Great question.

    Thank you very much for taking the time to explain. New subscriber😊. Is there a possibility that one individual could have a mix of one or more temperaments?

    • @drjuangarcia
      @drjuangarcia  3 роки тому +1

      Hi there and thank you for your question. The answer is absolutely! Most people have a mix or what we call blends of temperaments. There's always one that stands out or is considered primary.

    What if you are a Phlegmatic as the primary and Sanguine as the secondary? It is an introvert with some extroversion?

    • @drjuangarcia
      @drjuangarcia  4 роки тому +2

      It depends on the area you would be a Sanguine in (Inclusion, Control or Affection) but to answer your question...yes!! You would be an introvert with some area of extroversion.

    • @irenedagami130
      @irenedagami130 3 роки тому

      If it is because of a toxic environment, you get out of it. Usually, if it is healthy environment you can be decisive and motivated. Take breaks, walks, do self care and take risks once in a while.

    How do you feel about the possible negative stereotypes these types of personality rubrics can create? For example, if someone is deemed to be a sanguine personality an HR professional may see them less capable for management or roles of high organizational need based on the sanguine's perceived carelessness or forgetful nature.

    • @drjuangarcia
      @drjuangarcia  Рік тому

      Please forgive the delayed response...this is an excellent question. I believe that those perceived "negative" traits can be worked on when one is aware of their innate/inborn nature. The more aware, the better it is to work through those areas.
