- Hey welcome to Episode 1 of Skugs. This general overview (and this series) was made with new players to Skullgirls in mind. This game can be a bit intimidating for those just starting out so I figured what way to help people start out then with a general all purpose overview. This series will probably have a total of 6-8 episode and will hopefully be a nice starting point for anyone wanting to hop into the game. If there is anything I missed or didnt explain properly, let me know in the comments. Any's here's a link to extra info and my own twitter if you wanna hear bad anime and FGC opinions

yeaa but it gets easier over time to the point where its thotless. its like ur typing ur password on ur netflix account for the 1000th time, or playing a rhythm game with no notes. eventually u get it it down and its not as bad as u think
@@TheZiadGuides I play rhythm games so I suppose the muscle memory will be there, just need to get used to the game and master stick.

As someone who loves Skullgirls, but is clueless to the controls for gameplay, this video is a lifesaver! I Love this game so much and want to improve and this video alone has helped so much. Thank you so much for making this series!
1:31 um akctually Cerbella, Beo Wulf, Big Band, and Fukua all have different inputs for their supers.

As a Tekken player, I got used to the directional notations such as DF or UF or UB as down-forward, up-forward and up-back respectively. The numerical notations scare me but I could at least embrace it for the sake of learning this game.
Ik it’s hard to grasp if coming from notation of other games, but this notation really isn’t that bad when u begin to learn it and it’s really intuitive IMO
@@TheZiadGuides Yep, takes a bit of getting used to. Games like Idol Showdown and BlazBlue had adopted the same numerical notation as well. Should be a big help having to mentally master the notation.

Just got skull girls for the ps4 for like 2 bucks got confused for a but since the controls are like arcade controls but I learned and got used to it pretty quickly
its really not too bad, if u ever wanna play vs more people i recommend geting it on steam. its pretty cheap and thats where the majority of the community plays, however i do hear murmurs from PSN players

I like the game but I just can with the buttons and I’m mostly just ass

Hi i was wondering what dash macros are for ? 4:50
Well it’s technically faster to use the dash buttons rather then having to press forward twice. You can also dash and block at the same time using button dashing by pressing the dash macro and holding back. So overall it’s better but I typically dash the normal way

I'm considering getting this game on the Switch. Is that version worth it? My PC cant handle gaming (it's for work) and I dont have a Playstation.
i would strongly suggest getting it for PC as the Bulk of the player base plays on that with some people playing on PS4. this game is over 10 years old and has a 2D artstyle so i would b SHOCKED if ur PC couldnt handle it. its always on sale too so using other sites like G2A u can get it for really cheap. maybe buy it on steam, see if it works, and return it if your PC really cant run it

PERSONAL PREFERENCE
in terms of pros and cons hitbox/keyboard is technically the best since it offers the most consistent and quickest inputs, but most players use a ps4 controller or a fight stick. i play on stick cuz i think its fun and also controller hurts my widdle thumbs

Whats a dragon punch?
A dragon punch is an Invincible move that is usually used as a reversal/defensive option. Typically done with a 623 motion

Half circle inputs are 10x easier than DP.
I hate half circles I can never do em gimme double quarter circles or DP any day
Is this the same Skullgirl in Mobile?
not exactly, same characters but this is more in line with Traditional Fighting games where as skullgirls mobile is more of a card game. this game is really fun tho! recommend you give it i a shot

Man, I just started playing fighting games on pc in general and I'm having such a hard time with these key inputs.
It is so much easier playing these type games on controller, but I want to learn how play them on pc too.
(Yes, I know that i could just plug in my controller, but I want to learn how to use keyboard controls)
so think of keyboard as a hitbox. it is kinda hard to adapt to at first but once u are used to it you will find that these inputs become a lot more precise compared to that of a stick (which is slow and takes more effort to move around) or a pad (which is imprecise and typically breaks within a few months). i would say stick with what you like the most as most devs nowadays consider all controller choices when they design these games, its just older games are mostly made with arcades and arcade sticks in mind

Nah, too complicated to me. It seems like I would have to spend at least a 1000 hours to be good at the game
i mean it depends on how good u wanna b. i have 600 hrs and usually go anywhere bettween 17-33 every week at mix masters. if u wanna win the whole tournament you would have to dedicate a lot of time to the game, but if u wanna make a team, get some combos and resets, then i would say u could get it done within like a week or 2 easy. its a lot easier to understand once you actually start playing matches (drag a friend and force em to pick it up with u thats what my friend did to me)
It's Skirls not Skug. Smh.
