Hi Everyone and Welcome Back to My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing project.
I needed some new PJ's so here we go! The pattern calls for knit and I did use one, but it was pretty lightweight and ill behaved... as they are. The pattern instructions show sewing the project with a straight stitch machine, so I went along with that just to show that it is possible, but please, feel free to use sergers and other stitches. It's your project :) And you can meet my new little dog Misty!
Hope you like it!
~Marie

I love your bold choice for pajamas! "Just because you can." You're my hero!
Cute pajamas. Beautiful sewing machines. Adorable puppies. Home run!!
I laughed out loud when you said my waist wants to be under my armpits! 😂 I know the feeling.
Very cute! Cute enough to wear as an outfit!❤ Very cute sweet pup! I love her!❤
Forget about sewing, that's good anyway but pups so gorgeous ❤️❤️❤
They’re nice fancy pancy pyjamas. They’re very pretty.
That was a good solution with the tricot tape for the binding. Those ultra lightweight knits are horrible to sew 😩
I hope your little rescue girl settles in well. Your black one doesn’t seem to mind her existence. That makes life a little easier.
You could wear those pjsi the garden, they are lovely. Rose is a pretty machine. I think you are brave to use knits. Love the new puppy. We call them puppy farms here. Glad you have saved her, she will love her new home. ❤
Love the PJs and the new baby she is a cutie
Those rescues are adorable. ❤
Sweet babies. I think i will make this pj set. Thanks for all you show us 😊
Awwwwe sweet pups. I enjoy all your videos.
Gutterman have introduced a new thread called Maraflex which can be used with a normal sewing stitch on stretch fabrics. This thread has a slight elastic component added. No need to use a zigzag stitch just use your normal stitch. Game changer. 😊
I have some and keep forgetting to use it 😂
I just found your channel today and I am so excited. I have already learned so much by watching. Thank you. I also have a very high waist which was why I began sewing. I agree, store bought pants are a nightmare for me as well. I’m looking forward to watching your channel, learning and getting to know you. ❤
We all need those pjs. Look so comfortable and bright. I know a lot of sewers hate knits but I love them. I use a rotary cutter and serger when sewing with that type of fabric. I love how soft it feels and no ironing. 😂
They are ridiculously comfy... I hate to get dressed 😂
Awww she's SO cute!! 🥰 And she'll be living her best life now with you. Wonderful!
I hate that knit, especially if it's DBP or SBP. I prefer wovens too. Love the video, it shows us that someone who is as accomplished as you has trouble with some fabrics. I think that pattern would make a cute daytime outfit. Cute little puppy.
The PJ'S are so cute! I like your stitch wichery use! I've been incorporating stitch wichery after watching your videos! Misty finally gets to have a fun life now! Thank you!
Interesting pattern with “watch video!” That’s fine if you’re able to access the Internet (which I typically can), but what are you supposed to do if you cannot?😳😵💫 One wonders these things. 😂 Cute pajamas. Adorable dog. Thanks for sharing your project.
I know! The pattern in working now is the same... I guess it's the new thing.
I made matching pj’s for my granddaughter and her bff. I never think to make them for myself. I love this pattern but I’ve only been sewing knit fabric for about a year. Ugh. I love the pups
I made this top with sleeves about a week ago. Did not know this was a pajama pattern. Oh well, I still plan to wear it out as a top.
I love the pattern, it turned out so cute. The new doggie is a sweetheart. I might do that pattern in a lounge set but I’m a nightgown lady. I don’t like waistbands when I am sleeping…long gowns are like sleeping nude but not…lol
I actually have a dress pattern that looks like a cute nightgown without the belt. Might do that soon.
It's wonderful that you are using an antique sewing machine. I have one in a beautiful cabinet .... just for display. I might just take her out and see what she can do😊
beautifully done
So so pretty
Hi I love the PJs very cute 🥰
I was at Joann's on Thursday and bought this pattern thinking it was for a blouse! I didn't know they were pj's until I saw your video. I guess I can still make a blouse out of it and probably will make pj's because I loved how yours turned out. Love your new rescue puppy, so adorable!
It makes a cute blouse. Enjoy it!
Love your pajamas. And it fit beautfully. Also congrats with the new puppy❤
The PJs turned out beautifully 💜 Looking forward to the wooden quilted jacket. In Melbourne Australia it’s still so so cold! 🥶
It up next 😊
Thinking that is probably a liverpool knit. I had bought some from fabric mart fabrics but haven't made anything with it yet. I could tell it would be trouble. I don't need any trouble in my life right now. Love your puppy. She seems so sweet. Enjoy!
I tune in to see the animals at the beginning. Love the new baby. Looks a lot like my Maltese poodle mix that I also got from a puppy mill. I thought the top nice enough to wear with street pants anytime. I was glad to see you use a Teflon sheet to attach the interfacing. They are great for applique too. And Rose is beautiful! Take care; and you can expect me to continue watching.
Love the pjs and the doggie is so precious! 💙
I was thinking now is the time to start my raglan sleeve quilted jacket for fall. Can’t wait to see🤗
I'm planning a raglan quilted jacket too. I watched a Nancy Zieman/Betty Cotton video on UA-cam for one and fell in love with the method.
Up next!!
Now you know why that fabric was in the bargain bin- no one wants to work with it. You did a fantastic job as ever. Ah Misty- sweet little girl. She doesn’t know it yet but she has a happy life ahead ❤️
I have seen this pattern and wasn't sure how that front would lay on a real person. It, on you at least, turns out to her very flattering. So, I'm considering getting it. With the sleeves it might be a good choice for my Christmas sewing. I don't really like sewing with knits so I'll need to read the pattern to see the choices for fabric. It would be great for lounge wear for my granddaughters. I think it is fairly easy, but, you know, you make everything look easy!
Cheap fabric is often a pain to work with, but sometimes expensive fabric also gives us the runaround... 🤷♀️ As long as the end result is good, it's worth the aggravation, and those PJs are lovely. As for the puppies, they are adorable! 😍 Hopefully it's not too hot for puppy cuddles 😁 Have a super weekend!
Thank you! 😁
I really like the design of the whole garment. Thank you for the sew along. I will put this pattern on my fabric store pattern sale list.
I agree with you working with light weight knit fabric can be challenging.
The top looks like it would be a nice dress.
I love your new puppy friend. She is very lucky to have such a wonderful new family and home.
Very pretty PJ’s! I would wear those outside. I see you are wearing what I think is Simplicity 8910. It looks so lovely on you. I want to sew that soon but am concerned about getting the bodice right as I am 5’2” and usually need a FBA along with being short waisted. Would you say going by bust measurement is easiest as you did in your video or should I try a FBA since I am so short? I am very inexperienced and have just got back into trying to sew clothes after a long break. I love watching your videos to learn new methods and inspire me to just give it a go. Also Misty is just adorable.
I'd start with using the bust measurement for picking pattern size. If you're not sure, try just using the front and back bodice pieces as a mock up, no sleeves, just to make sure the shoulders are good too.
@@mybucoliclifeThank you, I will try that.
I'm just about to make Butterick 4913 which has the same bodice with the pleats/darts and v neck with buttons down the front so was so glad to see you make these pjs. They look really great and I enjoyed watching you make them. I can now go ahead and make my dress with some confudence. Love little Misty, she's a darling. I'm sure we'll see more of her.
They are adorable but I know what you mean I got back into sewing and got several colors of knit from Walmart to start the fabric hangs well but oh its a bugaboo to work with
Love the pattern... could you see it in a light weight woven? You could really tell you didn't like the material.. and other things were on your mind.
Yes, she seems very scattered which is completely not normal.
It might work in a light woven. Just make sure you have enough ease. 😊
Lovely to see Misty, what a great life she will have with you. Love the pj's too, great use of stitch witchery on the top band. x
Awesome
Looked thru your videos looking for your dress, you are wearing? What pattern?
I think this is what you mean. ua-cam.com/video/3kfM8Zgx0zo/v-deo.htmlsi=4r_M_gt6uaXjjLdO
I was dismayed to see the instructions instructed you to watch a video. Paper lasts longer than videos.
