They aren't gone. Although the console side was abandoned, they've had some good releases in the last few years and have just announced new developments for 2024. Remakes of crazy taxi, streets of rage, golden axe, Shinobi and jet set radio plus more to come.
Dreamcast was just there at the wrong time :(
I also really miss Sega video games so sad that the Dreamcast died, it was the last Sega console 😭

Funny cuz we rarely had them in America where I grew up, I never knew they existed living in Chicago and then Wisconsin, not until a decade later did I hear about it and think it was a new console.
Sega Genesis was a beast, i still have one from 1992 that works great still and even the original controller for it works. Also i didn't take any special care with it, i pulled it out of storage last year and i couldn't believe it still worked. It was the only one of my old consoles that worked that day when i hooked them up, my ps1 and nes didn't work.

There the was a console before the master system call the sg-1000 which was the first console that was released in 1983.

I love the Sega Saturn startup sound it was so futuristic sounding. So many great memories I had with my Sega Saturn console.
Especially with Sega Rally 1995 and Sonic R....
Its incredible how many of these game startup compilations get the Genesis wrong. This only happens if you boot up the first Sonic the Hedgehog game. It reminds me of how some have mistaken the Famicom Disk System startup sequence for the NES (which doesnt have one).
That is so true, The genesis and GG only have sound when games are booted up.
@@thegamingcorner4095actually Sonic or Beyond Oasis, Vectorman I think Comix Zone the first Spider-Man did but mostly the later games though(I’m an early era gamer-Altered Beast days) but no most of them would just show the sega or third party’s logo.
Sonic 2 has a similar startup. But yes, you normally just get a black screen if you power on without a cartridge.

It really depends on the game and how they elected to program it. Sonic 1 is just one of many examples. Sonic 2, 3, S&K, Earthworm Jim, Vectorman, VR Racing, Sonic 3D Blast, etc. are just a few that had something unique as well.

The Genesis and game gear startups aren’t natural. To get the genesis one shown here, you need it instead sonic 1 and turn the power. To get the game gear one shown here, you have to insert tails’ adventure or tails’ skypatrol (I can’t remember which.)

It was called the MegaCD in Europe to complement the Mega Drive.
That Saturn startup is also the Japanese version, which was a slightly different system all round. Everywhere else had a different one.
I loved my megadrive ! With Sonic, Caslte of Illusion street fighter etc....

Did you know: SEGA CD startups shown in the video are the North American Versions? In case you didn’t find out already, Europe and Japan releases of the SEGA CD sound and look different, along with JVC’s Wondermega (or X’eye in NA).
Only video game console or SEGA Nerds will understand what I mean, lol. 🤓

Unfortunately it stopped at Dreamcast. I always wonder what could have been Sega if the Dreamcast out preformed the PS2
It couldn't outperform in 3 generations as it was always playing catch up.
They released the saturn to beat the SNES and then Nintendo released N64 and Sony with the PS1. Then they abandoned the saturn to work on a console to beat the N64 and the PS1 with their Dreamcast but it was too late as the gamecube, xbox and ps2 were near release.
The saturn was really weak compared to the n64 and ps1 and the dreamcast was really weak compared to the ps2, gc and xbox.
Playing catch up is never good in business.
@damnit20 The Saturn wasn't weaker it literally had dual cpus and quadrilateral rendering with infinite planes it also had more and faster ram than the PS1
The issue is because of that it was incredibly difficult to develop for and take full advantage of

Love the Nostalgia, but Genesis and Game Gear didn't have what we call "Startup music" it was specific to what game was inserted.
SEGA GENESIS, SEGA CD 1st and 2nd and Dreamcast all have the best startups. Dont forget Japanese Sega Saturn also.😊

That's a question that can't be answered without a person having some bias in their answer, because it all comes down to the age you were when you first got any one of those consoles. They were all great, but most people are going to have a soft spot in their heart for whichever console they had throughout the ages of about 10 to 16 years old.
The second one is nostalgic as i used to watch sonic games.
There were several iterations of Sega Saturn and also missing is the several updated and regional variations of Sega CD. Sega 32X and Dreamcast’s blue swirl is also missing

The Genesis and Game Gear didn't have dedicated startups. They only had game specific ones.

Dreamcast was my first experience w emulation. I was gift a burned cd of nester dc. I loved it and it played burned disc wo any mods or jailbreak. This inspired getting an Xbox and doing chip mods lol. Kai online !!!
