@@jasonlee7816 The Saturn didn't do well outside of Japan because of poor marketing, huge competetion, complicated hardware and bad communication between Sega of Japan and Sega of America. Many of the games released in Japan didn't get released in the US or Europe, and the Saturn has a lot of great Japanese exclusives. Because of this, many people outside of Japan consider the Saturn to be a bad console with a few good games. In reality it has a great assortment of arcade ports, racing games, fighting games, shoot em ups, first person shooters, RPG's, platformers and Rail shooters.
I strongly recommend watching a UA-camr named SegaLordX if you want to know more about the Saturn. He has the definitive channel for Sega stuff.
Happy 25 years, Sega Saturn! One hell of a good console that sadly got shadowed away...

Dual processors which makes the development for game designers so hard while Sony was giving them free libraries.
And above all, too much money wasted on advertisement in the USA and EU (the console was well sold in Japan though).
The Dreamcast was perfect, but too late.

Besides, the fact that the Nintendo games had their own processors that communicate with the console made it possible for them to sustain the quality, unlike Sega.
And again... No real Sonic (exactly what happened to Wii U for Nintendo).

amazing memories playing Sega Rally, PD2, VF2 and others.
When I bowled leagues as a kid nearly 25 years ago, I always played the Virtua Fighter 2 arcade they had at the bowling alley waiting for my dad to pick me up. Every single Saturday. It was amazing. I miss the old days. Fantastic video! Love the nostalgia!

Underrated console. Sells about 10 million copies in world, while PlayStation was selling 100 million.
Do not forget about the N64, which sold around 30-35 million.

Awesome video, I see you are a man of culture. I still have my PAL Saturn and the exact same box. True SCART RGB cable included (as with all Sega consoles, unlike Sony and Nintendo). Internal memory, no need to buy a memory card. PAL optimized games that run full screen and the correct speed. Best controller ever for 2D games. Virtua Fighter 2 high resolution game at 60 frames per second, of course it is still perfectly smooth :) Dragon Ball Z is also a great game, but it has some unusual gameplay type (you need to make combos to build the bottom jauge).
This console was absolutely awesome. Tomb Raider and Alien Trilogy are great games as well. Dracula X is a lazy port, but still a great addition to the library. And of course, many other legendary games like Dragon Force, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant Silvergun, Exhumed etc...
Loved my Sega Saturn! Guardian Heroes, the Panzer Dragoon series, Radiant Silvergun, Keio Yugekitai, Darkstalkers 3 and the Street Fighter Alpha series with a proper 6-button controller, Saturn Bomberman with a 10-player adapter (best Bomberman ever?), Dragon Force, Virtua On, and even Shining the Holy Ark (which I enjoyed more than others)... definitely underrated!

I loved playing Deathtank Zwei and a multi tap with 5 or 6 friends!

Love the Saturn. I recently bought a pristine japanese launch unit, with 3 standard controllers (one white, 2 grays) plus the wonderful 3D analogue pad.
I also bought an RGB Scart to Component video adapter and it looks GLORIOUS in my 29'' Sony flat screen CRT.
Funny story:
Sega was panicked about the Sony's PlayStation is on the way for payback, so they decided to Release the Sega Saturn immediately on E3. This is the wrong decision for Sega without noticing the consequences that Sony took advantage with the price.
@雨琛涂 Yeah, they weren't a completely 100% console hardware type of company, they specialized more in arcades. Regardless, they made some incredible consoles and I would kill for a new SEGA console.

This is the system I have the most nostalgia for. All of the Panzer Dragoon games, Daytona USA, Guardian Heroes, Shining Force 3, Radiant Silvergun, Dragon Force, Fire Pro S, and a bunch of other titles that still stick in my mind. My friend got the cartridge for the back and showed me X Men vs. Street Fighter. Blew my tiny mind. Great video!

If this console is released on Sept. '95 instead of May '95, it would be radical. Even though I had PS1 console before as a kid, Sega Saturn is interesting especially Virtua Fighter.

Still have my dad's Sega Saturn! It was the first console i ever laid hands on! I got Virtua Fighter 2, Sega Rally Championship, Lemmings 3D, Firestorm Thunderhawk 2 and some other one i can’t remember... Great times.
I feel like the Saturn could've been a huge success; I believe the reason for its failure is the $399 price tag, while Sony had a $299 price tag, and Nintendo had a $199 price tag.

Even the mascot doesnt have good games: Sonic R, Sonic 3d Blast, Sonic Extreme(got canceled for being poorly made), Sonic jam (which has sonic 1 , 2, 3 and sonic and knuckles combined in a cartradge + small 3d world to explore where sonic is so slow)

Fun fact: Tomb Raider on the Sega Saturn is the first version! The PS1 and PC versions are ports, whereas the Saturn had the game for a whole month before everything else.
It's strange why TR2 was not made on Ss? she thinks there better than for Ps1 it would have turned out, even in TR1 where at the locations the water was made as living at that time, while on Ps1 the same water is static

Back when I had a Sega Saturn growing up on the '90's, I didn't have that many games for it. Looking back at it now, I wish I still had a Saturn. If I had a Saturn, I would get the Action Replay Plus cartridge for it because that specific cartridge allows you to play imported Saturn games on your North American, PAL region and Japanese Saturns, which is really awesome! I would get Sonic 3D Blast/Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island, Sonic Jam, Sonic R, Virtua Fighter Remix, Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition, Virtua Fighter Kids, Fighters Megamix, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx, Street Fighter Collection and other great games for the Saturn.
Ahh yes Sega Saturn, a relic from an age when games where games, and only three gaming titans walked the earth.

And then the early 2000's,Sega Is now gone from the gaming platform
But replaced with xbox and then play station released the ps2 making the most successful gaming console ever and then in 2004 nintendo released the nintendo ds.
Then sega died after the Dreamcast.
But a new titan approached..........it was Microsoft.
Then microsoft came and sega was like: im out nintendo you coming ? Then nintendo said: nah imma stick around for a while to show these fools whos the boss.

Only ever played a Saturn a few times around 96. Before my parents marriage ended in 97, one of our friends had one and a copy of Sonic Jam. The Japanese library has a lot of 2D fighting games and that's where it's at its best.

Oh my God. This is Nintendo64 that my father bought when I was 4. I tried to play it only once and it stayed in our home only one day and father sold it to someone else... I am 29 now, 25 years passed. I didn't remember what console it was until I saw it in your video. Thank you!

But the Playstation and Nintendo 64 are awesome too, great memories are to be had with any of the three game systems.
I think Sonic 3 and Knuckles should’ve been a launch title for this system.
I remember i saw it in 1995, with sega rally.. and Bug.. I couldn't sleep how I wanted it. Fortunately after month, i sold my motorcycle, added some, and bought it for my 15 birthday kinda. Still remember emotions.. good old times. I still have it by the way ;)

Great times for the video games! With the fifth generation consoles, 3D gaming become the norm, it was a massive change from the fourth generation consoles. The Saturn is such an amazing system, love it.
