Her name is Zora, think her last name is pronounced something like ,coke. Another wonderful female voice from The Netherlands, must be something in the water there. 😁 Yes, the "A Dark Euphony" album is out, released Sep 29. Cicada, Forever and A Day, and Spirit of Forgetfulness are the 3 songs from it released as singles after My Soul's Demise. Crimson Faces was released earlier, and is included as a bonus track on the album I have.
Thanks for checking it out! The new album is out now and it is incredible. This album really clicked with me and got me hooked on Blackbriar. Some of my favourites are: My Soul's Demise, Crimson Faces (inspired by the book Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier), Spirit of Forgetfulness (lyrics are great storytelling), We Make Mist, and Cicada. I hope you check out more! Their songs are great for sparking conversation, that's for sure.
Great reaction guys! So many excellent songs... Always a story, deep lyrics and meaning. Can't wait for the next Blackbriar song! My favorite off the new album is "Thumbelina" Best wishes from Namibia
Last month I attended two shows of their tour with Ad Infinitum and Phantom Elite. I mainly came to see Ad Infinitum (although I already knew Blackbriar) because I really wanted to see Melissa live. I liked all three acts so much that I booked a ticket for the show the next day right after the show (400 km in the other direction, although I live right in the middle of it ^^) On the first evening Ad Infinitum was the closing headliner, on the second evening Blackbriar ..... and I heard Zora's voice in my head the whole way back ... even though I was listening to something completely different on the radio .... And I somehow like the slightly sweet, yet dark and almost disturbing quality of her music. I don't mean that in a bad way, it's as if a Fae/Fey is singing .... but not this nice tiny Tinkerbell, but the darker version of the legends
The sin eating is even worse than you are thinking of. It is basically donating your ticket to heaven to the deceased. It absolves the deceased of un-confessed sins, those un-confessed sins are transferred to the sin eater. Now here is a problem: the way to get absolution is to confess your sins, but if you take on sins that are not yours, sins you might not even be aware of, you cannot confess to them. You just got yourself a ticket to straight to hell.
Love Blackbriar! Their new album is SO good! There isn't a song that I don´t like. My favorites are An Unwelcome Guest, Far Distant Land, We Make Mist, Cicada, My Soul's Demise and Forever and a Day.

Zora Cock, the band is from the Netherlands. Another beautiful song is Forever and a day from the new album.
You'll never regret reacting to a Blackbriar song. That's a promise I can make to you without batting an eyelid. 😊

Not sure if this ritual is pagan, it was practiced in Christian societies.
