This was one of the most amazing concerts weekends of the last years. All artists were in the Netherlands for that week and played 5 sold out shows in the weekend. So a lot of artists gave free solo concerts during the weekend. The whole city center was turned into an ayreon heaven. It was amazing! This was the last song (before the encore)
Beste concert ever! Vrijdags Damian Wilson, meteen naar de camping voor Marcela Bovio, daarna naar de bioscoop voor groot scherm concert én daarna op de foto met een aantal zangers die rondliepen. Memories for ever❤
Shoot, moet ik even beter gaan opletten. Ik was met mijn 12 jarige zoon en die was helemaal in de ban van Damian omdat hij een praatje met hem maakte, samen foto's maken ect 😅 zoiets had hij nog nooit meegemaakt. Ja top weekend, hoop snel weer. ✌️
It seems Arjen suffers from acute anxiety attacks plus stage fright and struggles to perform live. I believe he was hospitalized after these shows because of that. It is a testament to him that he even appears on stage at all.
@@mrwomby5007 Didn't he say in the extras on one of the DVDs (Universe I think) that he (or Lori) has to start working the diary about 2 years ahead so he can get as many artists as he wants pencilled in? It's insane logistically, it's insane technically, and it's insane artistically.. Exhausts me just thinking about how hard everyone must have worked behind the scenes to pull this off AGAIN.
It's so sad to hear that Arjen wasn't feeling well after these shows...he seemed to be doing fairly well on stage. On the other hand it's incredibly inspirational to see someone overcome their anxiety so well! The love and dedication to his craft is truely a gift for us all
I was there at one of these shows. It was the most epic concert I ever witnessed. Goosebumps and tears. Arjen is pure magic. Nightwish and Ayreon...do you need more?
@@user-Rockmagix I mean, in general, the music of Nightwish and Ayreon makes my life more beautiful. By the way, Floor is a regular participant in Ayreon. Not so last year because she was having a baby. And Marko Hietala can be found singing in Ayreon as well. It is a small world.

Nice reaction guys. Next reaction ....... watch a whole different Arjen with a song called *_"Before The Morning Comes"_* : ua-cam.com/video/2l0-yHau5QY/v-deo.html This one is a preview single from an album Arjen Lucassen & Robert Soeterboek's PLAN NINE - The Long Lost Tapes (out on May 17th). As Robert and Arjen sifted through their 30-year-old cassette tapes containing theirr demos, they stumbled upon a bluesy, unfinished piece featuring just Arjen's guitar and Robert's voice. Arjen had completely forgotten about it, but felt it had the potential to be something special. He's glad they pursued it, because it turned out to be one of the album's highlights!
18:40 holy shit Simone Simons just levels up in beauty every year, at some point she will be so beautiful she collapses in on herself and becomes an actual star.
In the show they played the entire '01011001' album from start to end, so every artist got on the stage to sing their part(s) of the story. This song was the last song of the album. They also played some encore songs as well. I have seen all the shows, but I am still eagerly awaiting my copy of the bluray/cd's
Ever since Arjen was in the band Vengeance, he was suffering from stage fright. That's why he doesn't like to perform live anymore. However, he does occasionally appear in songs on stage. That, and the fact that Ayreon is a multi-artist project, inintiated by Arjen, is the reason why Ayreon doesn't tour but only performs once every 2 years or so in 5-6 shows in Tilburg, Netherlands.
Glad to see that you are back with Ayreon and that you liked it. I was at that concert, and as you read, it was an experience. At the Live beneath the Waves show the album 01011001 was performed. Arjen managed to get all but 4 of the original 16 singers on stage (the ones missing were Bob Catley (Magnum), Steve Lee (Gotthard, RIP), Floor Jansen and Jorn Lande), and he also sang two songs. They all absolutely nailed their performances. The binary code translates to the letter Y, which is the name of the planet that became the new home for the refugees from planet Alpha. You heard a part of that story in The Day that the World breaks down from The Source, your very first reaction to Ayreon. For your next reaction I recommend: Into the Black Hole (off. lyric vid.) feat. Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden Amazing Flight live from Into the Electric Castle (with Arjen singing and playing) or just pick whatever you fancy, all the songs are amazing.
"a-NUK-keh'..? lol Eh, nope, the emphasis goes on the first part of her name: "AH-neh-keh". Don't feel bad, most English speakers are quite rubbish with Dutch names. 🤪
You nailed it on Rock Opera. Your next song from Ayreon should be from live Electric Castle. Electric Castle has a unique narrator that isn't a singer.
Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell is a totally appropriate comparison when talking about the rock opera aspect. In fact, im pretty sure that Arjen himself dubbed his genre of composition as metal opera.
i recommend you guys check out Daniel's (the guy in glasses) band next, it is personaly my favorite from all of them, listen to Pain of salvation - martius nauticus II live, you will be amazed
I’ve read the Silmarillion! It was painful for the first part where Christopher Tolkien tried to piece together his dads notes - once you hit JRR’s actual writing, it was incredible!
I read it and enjoyed it but I was pretty young so wouldn't have noticed the style change. I wonder how it would read now. The last Tolkien I read was some of the Hobbit to my daughter when she was younger.
@@dragluian It was not easy to read the beginning, at all! But it explained so much pre-history to the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings that it was worth it - for me.
@@TheVeryRisky His son’s writing was very dry and factual, not easy to get through. I really noticed the change once that classic JRR storyteller style kicked in!
Most of these singers are not in power metal bands. They are more Prog/Gothic/Doom/Alt Metal/Rock. Katatonia, The Gathering, Pain of Salvation, Evergrey, and Threshold are all great and well-known bands BTW. I would recommend all of them.
How dare you compare Ayreon to Meat Loaf! Nah, just kidding. 😛 ice to see you back covering some Ayreon! You were right on spot with Rock Opera for Ayreon. Every album tells one story in a bigger SciFi universe. And I can only agree with the comments you read. The five days in Tilburg were an experience. It seems Arjen suffers from acute anxiety attacks plus stage fright and struggles to perform live. I believe he was hospitalized after these shows because of that. It is a testament to him that he even appears on stage at all.
Another reason for the rarity of Arjen’s shows is the logistics of getting all these talented musicians and singers together at the same time!
Ayreon whas busy with supersonic revolution project off him.
