SUGA has suffered a lot of trauma and has been open about his mental health (OCD, Depression and Social Anxiety), something very unusual in South Korea due to cultural stigmas against mental illness. He created the alter ego AGUST D so he could release his anger and also be completely honest in a way he couldn't within the group because it wasn't relatable to BTS. The songs DAECHWITA, HAEGEUM and AMYGDALA (and their respective MVs) make up the trilogy that represents his alter ego. They are part of the same universe and tell of the struggles between their inner demons and other personas. They are simply incredible, revealing, deeply symbolic, meaningful and take us through their professional journey, mental health and maturity. DAECHWITA (traditional Korean march, played for kings, army movements, etc.), is the first in the trilogy and was an applause for all who hate him. While in the title song AGUST D Suga was full of anger, resentment and disillusionment with the world, in this song he presents himself with an impetuous but somewhat calm personality. Furthermore, in the MV there are two AGUST Ds: the one with black hair was the poor one (appears with 6 friends, mention of BTS) and the blonde one was the king (tyrant who kills opponents and dissidents). In the tent, a woman (reference to ARMY) gives the poor man the key to start the revolution. So, he and his 6 friends arrive at the king's lands without fear. Where they show the drawing of Bang Si-hyuk (“creator of BTS”). The king sentences him to death, however, even tied up and on his knees, he continues singing DAECHWITA. The other condemned men join the revolt, singing DAECHWITA. Finally, the executioner who was supposed to kill the poor man also joins the revolt, frees him and gives him a weapon, with which he kills the tyrant king. With this we have a metaphor to demonstrate the lower class “overthrowing the system”. Totally relatable to BTS who started as a discriminated group (from a small almost bankrupt company), who were despised and disdained, but ended up becoming the biggest Korean group in k-pop (true kings of the game). In the time of dynasties, the poor would never be part of the elite but today BTS who started small is the elite. The achievement was extremely difficult, however, with hard work, talent and determination they “overthrew” the dominant system of the Korean music industry (and continue to do so until now, overturning the arrogance and prejudice of the global music industry). Fun fact: JIN and JUNGKOOK appear as extras in the MV - they fight when SUGA bumps into JIN at the fair.
SUGA/ AGUST D is one of the most vulnerable and raw rappers i have ever encountered. he never shy away of talking about the things that most people/artist was too afraid to open up. his lyrics always cut deep, and evoke emotion. I always tear up or sometimes sob whenever i listen to his songs, The Last, so far away, Snooze, Amygdala, First Love, the list goes on.. it always touch your heart and soul.. BTS’ rapline pen game is the best imo.. they are truly multi layered and will definitely make your mind, body and soul move.. as we always say, RM raps with his mind (full of philosphy and intelligence), SUGA with his soul (raw, honest and vulnerable) and j-hope with his body (raps that flows like how his body flows when he dances). Their artistry are truly one of a kind.. boracity magazine’s introduction to BTS members gives you a gist on what to expect (or not) from each member.. you’ll be blown away by the diversity of these 7.. coz they can truly do anything and everything they wished to do..
1. Whenever reactors start to watch the members' solo work, it's so much fun to watch because you'll see how each member has a distinct color, very different from one another. But also, how each member is also versatile within his own discography. 2. While Daechwita is a diss track, you'll see that the other two songs in the trilogy tackle different themes. 3. Another thing you need to know about Suga is that he is a producer. He produced this song himself, with his long-time co-producer El Capitxn, a same-age friend whom he mentored in music production but now a prolific producer himself. Suga has also produced eight songs for other artists, four of which received awards.
Min Yoongi is savage! I love how while dissing their haters, he tells us about the struggles between his greedy side and the humble one. He has no problem in showing us he's vulnerable, and talks about mental health (Listen to The Last). He's really a genius lyricist. I love him and admire his wisdom and generosity (I'm 67).
One of the reasons BTS is as successful as they are is because each member is so versatile and bring their own area of expertise to the group. Individually they are all insanely talented, and together they are unstoppable! SUGA started as an underground rapper, and is one of the fastest rappers out there. He's a literal lyric genius and can be super savage like in this song, but also has the softest heart and can sing like in People pt 2!
Some things that are hard to pick up on first watch.....the two people fighting on the market street are 2 of the other members...Jin and Jungkook. Suga exchanges glances with the butcher in the market scene as well. The butcher is also the executioner and they conspire to kill the Mad King (Suga's alter ego). Such a cinematic MV. The thing to know about Yoongi (Suga, Agust D) is that he's the most badassed softie on the planet. They truly are 7 superstars, each one as talented as the last. Thanks for reacting and getting to know them. Now that you have heard softer Namjoon (RM) in "Wildflower", check out something from his older stuff such as "Do You" or "Monster". Although I love that their English songs opened up the western market for them more, I dislike that those were their most "fluffy" songs (some of the few that weren't written BY them because they are in English) and don't really represent their much grittier past discography.
Suga actually came up with the storyboards for all of the music video trilogy a few years before they came out (1- Daechwita (대취타), 2- Haegeum (해금), 3- Amygdala)
The Rapline (also vocalline) are extremely divers. You can not put them in a specific box. You've seen soft RM, but he can be raw as hell. His albums Indigo and Rpwp are absolute masterpieces. Yoongi can tear the haters apart but can also be soft with his music and shows his vulnerability to Army. And not gonna say anything about JHope because that man will blow you away. They are truly amazing with their lyrics and flow. And when you think you that you've got their style, they come up with something new. I look forward to your reactions to JHope and our amazing vocal line💜
I'm not sure how much you know about Min YoonGi aka Suga/AugstD....but as you liked his MV then the following info might be of interest to you. Suga/Agust D began writing music lyrics and working with MIDI at age 11 and held a part-time job composing and arranging music at a recording studio at age 16. Active under the name "Gloss" (wordplay on his name YoonGi, which means "to shine") as an underground rapper in his hometown Daegu, He originally entered Big Hit Entertainment as a producer at age 17 and became the second member to join BTS..... At BTS debut in 2013 he was 20 y.o.... he is one of BTSs main producers/songwriters/composers and has over 150 song copyrights.... he also produces for other artists and has won awards for his work.... he is one of the fastest rappers in South Korea. Suga (SHU-GA.... from Shooting Guard - the position he played in basketball) ...... AgustD = SUGA + DT (Daegu Town - his hometown) Spelt Backwards Between his commitments as a member of BTS, Suga/Agust D took advantage of time on the plane and in hotel rooms after concerts to continuously produce, write and compose music. In an interview for Grazia Korea, Suga/Agust D expressed a desire to release the music he wanted to do without having to consider popular appeal or music ranking. He intended to release his music for free in the form of a mixtape to avoid such considerations, commenting that an album "has a feeling of being trapped in some sort of framework" due to the need for company involvement in promotion and advertising. He has released 2 mixtapes - and last year released his first official album (of which he continues to maintain full creative control) Developing Agust D musically on the base of hip hop, much of Agust D's inspiration for the lyrics came from his own stories of dream, youth, and reality. In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D". He is best known for his honest hardhitting lyrics. SUGA has said that the emperor is the Agust D of the beginning, angry and wanting to get revenge and the lower class SUGA is him today, wanting to do away with the old him. Thus the killing the emperor in the end. He said that Agust D is gone after the trilogy. That he needed the alter ego to express himself when just starting out but now is able to do that as SUGA.
Did you know his studio where he does his work he named it Genius Lab. That is a Army Colt gun. Suga and RM were underground Rappers both started at the age of 13years old.
When he's part of BTS, Suga flows with the group's style and goals. As AgustD, he's his raw, unfiltered self. And it's understood that this does not reflect on the group. He adopted the second persona, being influenced by Eminem and the Slim Shady alter ego.
For the softer style concept: I 100% know where you’re coming from with the boyband aspect which is why BTS is so unique! They trained and debuted as a hip hop group so rap, R&B and that more gritty style of music is part of their blood! You should check out the BTS song Hiphop-phile to see more about their influences and love for the genre!
Yes this song is about him grounding himself , that’s why he shoot that part of him , that he called anger or refers to that as a monster greed on his first mixtape which he was blonde at that time , on his first MV he is more aggressive called Agust D MV and the second part it’s give it to me MV for his first mixtape , so at the end all his work connect ( not just the last two , where rest of the MVs of the trilogy is for ). Cuz after all it’s about his life. And he even said that’s why all connects : first mixtape it’s his past, second mixtape about how he change in the present and his album Dday ( that was the last release ) it’s about looking forward to the future with all of his scars heal. This is why he said he doesn’t know if agust D will comeback or not cuz it was born out of anger for all the things happening outside and inside him that he couldn’t control.
You guys did amazing with your analysis of this song and hit on things many noobies do not even consider. I'd still suggest checking out the explination videos too to all 3 songs as there is just so much nuance that it's well worth it to get the big picture.
RM is not soft, he just don't like the monster version of himself anymore. And (I'm slightly sad to say this even knowing it's a good thing) no one actually dare to bring out his monster for awhile now. If you don't know what RM did stand for checkout "Joke" and "Do You" 💜😏
Wait till you see the other 2 videos that connects with this song it literally will make sense for sure and omg all the trauma he went through and what he endured as well its literally heart breaking
You wanna see him snap? Agust D self titled 'Agust D' mv. Its a clapnacl against all the other rappers abd haters dissing him for becoming an idol. Its 🔥 🔥 🔥
SUGA/Agust D music/videos have deeper meanings than what is on the surface. There are explanation videos for his work. For this one the channel DKDKTV does a cultural reference explanation on it. It may be worth your while to check them out to further understand the complexity of this amazing artist.
I really enjoyed your reaction! After watching the other songs from the trilogy, I also highly recommend his song Agust D! It's gritty to the haters like this one and another one of his absolute bangers🔥!!
I mean no hate when I say this oh my God how hilarious 😅 suga play fluffy bunny??? But it's cool that she caught the underground rapper because he actually is an underground rapper there's a reason why his emoji is a cat he can be goofy and sweet just like a cat but don't piss him off he can also tear up apart with his lyrics! Oh my God I can't get over it that fluffy bunny!!! Seriously? Yoongi ? You guys are so cute can't wait for haegum then amygdala don't let the content warning scare you on the last part of the trilogy it's an amazing song and also you should know what happened in the video actually happened!
all the rappers have different casket to them sugar can go hard and soft too rm as well he can go soft like wild flower but can go hard too like in do you or joke they are very versatile, jhope can be soft on on the street and hard on more so explore all their facet check both soft and hard facet of their songs...and the 4 cyphers are mastrepieces...borahaee

Suga's stage name is Suga, his real name is Min Yoongi. Agust D is the name he uses when he does his personal projects.
