Unlikely but wouldnt mine seeing Wharton in for Rice, Gordon on the left, Jude playing as an 8, I would play Foden as a 10 to try and get him going, stick with Saka, Watkins in for Kane, and Palmer to come on in the sexond half for either Foden or Saka Rest legs, new players with fresh ideas could invigorate the group
Following a string of 2 disappointing performances despite naming an unchanged team against Denmark and Serbia, England need to make a lot of changes in their next game against Slovenia because I still think that he doesn’t know what his best starting lineup is. So far at the EUROs, his treatment of Cole Palmer and Kobbie Mainoo 2 of the biggest breakout stars of the premier league last season has been questionable and they haven’t played a lot and they deserve some significant minutes in their next game. You have a guy who went into this tournament in top form and led the premier league in goals and assists combined had the 3rd most G/A out of any player in Europe last season while playing for such a weak team, yet they don’t know what to do with Palmer as in their 2 games, he hasn’t played a single minute at the EUROs. Do think he should start over Saka no, but when you sub him Kane and Foden all out at the same time and you can’t get him on the pitch, it’s clear that they don’t know how they’re going to use him at this tournament. You were in need of a goal threat and a creative player for the game against Denmark and even if the result would’ve been the same, he is capable of making a difference off the bench you just have to find a way to play him. One of the things that is lacking in England’s midfield has been a sense of calmness and composure and yet you’re not even using Mainoo enough. Trent Alexander Arnold in their opening 2 games of this tournament was the first player on the team to have gotten subbed off and he preferred Connor Gallagher over him and against Denmark or even Serbia, Mainoo should’ve been on the pitch to close out the game and give them something different in the middle of the pitch because when you have Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice 2 elite midfielders who were losing possession for fun and can’t keep the ball in a major tournament and they’re midfielders, that’s concerning for them going forward. Despite being 19 years old he has proven that he’s good enough to be on the pitch and while the tournament has come too soon for him and you don’t want to overplay young players, still he’s a baller and maybe if he was on the field they would’ve had much more control of the game and he would’ve slowed things down. Southgate needs to find a way to give Mainoo and Palmer more opportunities even if it means that one of them is coming off the bench.
Decades of English national team failures and it is always the media who find a way to blame somebody😂😂😂 the players are good in their teams cause they are playing with other high level players and systems! They are not good enough to play together and win! No spirit! Just being arrogant!
I think he has lost the dressing room. Players look negative and dejected. I think something is going on behind the scenes. Southgate is still experimenting with his team which should’ve been done months ago. The lack of preparation is astounding. Players look unfit.
Spurs under conte and Jose sat back and managers and players said wasn’t the tactics - but of not the tactics it’s the training as it’s habit they got and Southgate is screaming in side of pitch to press or attack like ange did last season and klopp pep arteta have done - if manager is passive players will he
England’s problem is that the fans actually think every two years they have a chance to win it 🤦🏻♂️ Italy, Spain, France, Germany and even Portugal are stronger than England as a team 🤷🏻♂️
Wharton, mainoo, palmer, gordon were probably going to get a half, at least, in game 3. Because they probably thought they'd be 2 in 2 and through. But now Southgate, as ever, will revert to his default. Play to scrape out another 1-0 win. And then its the knockout and he'll be too nervous to try anything new at thet point.
Same tactics he employed at middlesborough 20 yrs ago. Still got relegated. Need to do an Ivory Coast and sack triple Durex pratgate. Bring in hoddle or allerdyce.
They didn't get off to a great start. They were schite throughout. Even the pitch affected them more than the opposition, theres no excuse for a factor like that to affect you more.
If England lose to Slovenia then Southgate will be out of Soho Square by the end of June. Although short of a massive turnaround and England lifting the European trophy in Berlin I do believe he will resign from the manager's post by mid-July.
Donnarumma has been OUTSTANDING this season but because he didn't claim a cross pretty enough in a Champions League game (the only games Shaka watches from PSG) he can't be the best. I am telling you, US soccer fans, if Jordan Pickford was an option he would've picked him because he plays in the BARCLAY'S PREMIER LEAGUE.
I strongly disagree, that Barca team that beat Man Utd at Wembley would beat any national team playing today and with ease. Best team I’ve ever seen to date.
Spain, Germany and Turkey playing their young ballers in the first team (Yamal, Musiala, Guler, respectively, who are all making a good account of themselves) and Ole Gunner Southgate can’t bring in Cole Palmer
Cockyness? they were the opposite of cocky. they were timid and scared and sat back worried about iceland/serbia/denmark. its more like an inferiority complex.
Clearly we have one of the best crops of players to choose from in Europe. Bellingham, Foden and Kane all play for the best teams in the world and are arguably the best players in each team. How are we being cocky as well, when no one in the country believes in Southgate or that we will win? Maybe look up the definition of that world. Italians are cocky, Brazilians are cocky. The English are not.
Southgate is a dull man and left some proven creative players at home. No wonder there is no spark in the team. They are a reflection of the manager. Dull.
People talk about England's great record under Southgate, but all they've done is beat the teams they're supposed to beat (Colombia, Denmark, Senegal, etc.). Whenever England have come up against a big nation, they've failed each time. The fact is this is same old England. They're just not good enough both technically and tactically to win a major tournament.
Tbh, having individual good players is nothing . There is no such thing as ballon d'or. A striker can score 40 goals and another team mate 30 and the team still does not win the league, because the defense is leaky. Foden may be good but maybe its Rodri or other players that compliment him. In summary, its the whole team.
You have some one of the calibre of Kobbie Mainoo in the squad who is the biggest talent to ever come out of English Football and Southgate still says that England have problems in their midfield and he chooses to play a Right-Back in Arnold in midfield instead of bringing on Mainoo. When will the FA realise that they need to get rid of this guy ASAP! England will never win anything as long as Southgate is in charge. They should sack him in mid tournament just like how Germany sacked their previous manager during a major tournament before.
The system hasn’t changed for 3/4 tournaments.. you gotta remember Kane scored mostly penalties and from corners.. he was doing this drop deep 💩 for years
The problem is Southgate, not the players... whoever is played or replaced will not change the game. high quality player and the best in his position but managed by a mediocre manager the results are bad
This one would stink to english fans, but england are the PSG of international football, amazing squad but utterly underwhelming output. The thing is, their players are so individually brilliant and they somehow flop as a team. Anything below semi final is an under-achievement.
Complete blame on Gareth. His team selection stank. Tactical setup stank. Has midfielders/forwards who want ball to feet, come short and don't run in behind, playing counter attack & long ball. Has defenders can progess the ball, playing hoof ball. If you wont change your style to suit the players you have, then dont send the players home that actually can play your system.
I have to say I enjoy the analysis on ESPN generally but why do they need to play background music when a discussion is going on? Is the attention span so bad with north Americans that they need to be stimulated with something other than chat?
England plays a boring game even with those wonderful players. But I do not know why individual "star" players do not take the matter in their hands in situations like that if the manager is not up to the expectation.
Just who is in charge of making sure the video titles have the correct spelling? Is it the content creator or UA-cam coz the amount of times there is basic misspelling is frankly embarrassing!
Southgate is a problem sure but the English players are not as talented as the media speaks of them, regardless of the manager, world class players can do a job done against lesser teams by individual displays.
That just isn’t true though, bad management ruins teams with world class players. Have you seen Germany at the last few major tournaments? Also which players do you think are overrated by pundits for England?
Bellingham: one of the best in Spain, won the double. Kane: 45 goals in a struggling Bayern. Foden: best player in England. Walker: one of the best at right back. Trent: one of the best passers in the world. Rice and Saka: helped take Man City all the way. Stones: won the Champions League last season. All those players, barring Kane who played for Tottenham, have won a major tournament. So stop with the nonsense that they aren't world-class players. Every single nation would take those players, and several would go straight into even the best teams.
Kane was the top scorer in the Bundesliga I believe. Bellingham was the best player in Spain. There are at least 6 players who have won the champions league. You're deluded.
Yeah Trent has no talent especially the way he dragged Liverpool to a champions league win playing a pivotal role in beating Lionel Messi's Barcelona 4-0. He should be nowhere near the national team.
@@edmann1820he dragged Liverpool to a final? Really? How many big games he been absolutely cooked? Since you used the Champions League…can you think of a big one? Terrible defender with zero positional awareness. You are delusional.

The difference is that Man U got to the final frequently without Ten Hag. England never gets to the finals without Southgate. Southgate’s England is the most successful iteration of recent history.
@@samig9032 I get that, but it all depends on who you play. When England have done well, they've had easy runs to the semis or final. When they lose in the quarters they've lost to big teams, usually, so it doesn't really tell you much. Now that he hasnt gone with that, i think he needs to freshen things up in this next game and rest a few legs.
Unlikely but wouldnt mine seeing Wharton in for Rice, Gordon on the left, Jude playing as an 8, I would play Foden as a 10 to try and get him going, stick with Saka, Watkins in for Kane, and Palmer to come on in the sexond half for either Foden or Saka
Rest legs, new players with fresh ideas could invigorate the group
Gordon on the left seems the most obvious change, they desperately need some pace and a threat on that side of the field.
What's a probelm?
Donnarumma has been OUTSTANDING this season but because he didn't claim a cross pretty enough in a Champions League game (the only games Shaka watches from PSG) he can't be the best. I am telling you, US soccer fans, if Jordan Pickford was an option he would've picked him because he plays in the BARCLAY'S PREMIER LEAGUE.
What?
@@gibbo822 Put down your coloring book and try reading. I know there are no pictures but it's not hard.
@@RussingtonS4678 I need pictures!! 🥕🎢⚖️
I strongly disagree, that Barca team that beat Man Utd at Wembley would beat any national team playing today and with ease. Best team I’ve ever seen to date.
The real problem is the old geezers in the English FA. Clueless Southgate should NEVER have been appointed in the first place
Spain, Germany and Turkey playing their young ballers in the first team (Yamal, Musiala, Guler, respectively, who are all making a good account of themselves) and Ole Gunner Southgate can’t bring in Cole Palmer
Englands cockyness is englands problem 😂
Exactly this.
So much what you say. They are also-rans.
Cockyness?
they were the opposite of cocky.
they were timid and scared and sat back worried about iceland/serbia/denmark.
its more like an inferiority complex.
@@NeilLewis77I think he’s talking about the media and fans going on about having the best players and all.
Dull.
Southgate is tactically clueless and almost everybody knows it - except for the FA it seems. He makes Kevin Keegan look like a tactical genius.
individualistic is England problem
Harry Enfield, Scousers, "Alright! Calm Down! Calm Down!" 😂
People talk about England's great record under Southgate, but all they've done is beat the teams they're supposed to beat (Colombia, Denmark, Senegal, etc.).
The system hasn’t changed for 3/4 tournaments.. you gotta remember Kane scored mostly penalties and from corners.. he was doing this drop deep 💩 for years
He should be bringing on Cole, Gordon and Watkins but he brought on Bowen and Eze
Bowen thrived even under negative Moyes. He's not the problem
Nagelsmann vs. Southgate is the edge Germany has over England.
Easy one! YES....next question please
The problem is Southgate, not the players... whoever is played or replaced will not change the game.
high quality player and the best in his position but managed by a mediocre manager the results are bad
Saka has been playing like Antony for a season.. but he’s out away his chances
The fact he continues to start Pickford goes unchecked cause everything else is so bad. There’s a reason Everton is all time bad rn
with a top class manager like pep or klopp this england team would be scoring and winning. it's so obvious.
Argentina went up 1-0 against Canada, and went into an attack even harder, creating chance after chance. England looks like they are bored of the game
This one would stink to english fans, but england are the PSG of international football, amazing squad but utterly underwhelming output. The thing is, their players are so individually brilliant and they somehow flop as a team. Anything below semi final is an under-achievement.
Ole Gunnar would've really pushed for a win.. !
8:39
how can you say that with a straight face while we watch England drop stinkers after stinkers?
Southga at the Euros: Random subs, zero tactics or rational in-game management
Complete blame on Gareth. His team selection stank. Tactical setup stank. Has midfielders/forwards who want ball to feet, come short and don't run in behind, playing counter attack & long ball. Has defenders can progess the ball, playing hoof ball. If you wont change your style to suit the players you have, then dont send the players home that actually can play your system.
What hasn’t changed for years with no improvement … it’s simple it’s Southgate
Hyping all this mediocres to superstars only because they make record salaries in the premier league is where it all starts..
Exactly. They’re the 3rd or 4th best team on talent in tournament. So far they’re 3rd or 4th on results. This isn’t that unexpected.
One in laliga
I have to say I enjoy the analysis on ESPN generally but why do they need to play background music when a discussion is going on? Is the attention span so bad with north Americans that they need to be stimulated with something other than chat?
Surely the thumbnail misspelling is the ‘probelm’ 😉
Yeah Manchester United should hire this Manager they said. I think it’s clear why
England should replace Southgate with Klopp or Tuchel….😂
Shaka about to upload his hoopmixtape
England plays a boring game even with those wonderful players. But I do not know why individual "star" players do not take the matter in their hands in situations like that if the manager is not up to the expectation.
Just who is in charge of making sure the video titles have the correct spelling? Is it the content creator or UA-cam coz the amount of times there is basic misspelling is frankly embarrassing!
so a semi final n final is considered a success by shaka.
Southgate is a problem sure but the English players are not as talented as the media speaks of them, regardless of the manager, world class players can do a job done against lesser teams by individual displays.
You certainly nailed it❤
That just isn’t true though, bad management ruins teams with world class players. Have you seen Germany at the last few major tournaments? Also which players do you think are overrated by pundits for England?
Correct, way out of proportion with the assessments.
Real would destroy Argentina. Not one Argentina player would get into the Madrid 11
Not even messi ?
@@mayowaogunnaike9118He's finished 😂
No, it’s their lack of talent. Kane can’t carry the team. I will blame Southgate for calling up and playing Alexander Arnold.
trents played less minutes then any other first 11 player.
we got worse when he came off. both times.
Should be Grelish
Yeah Trent has no talent especially the way he dragged Liverpool to a champions league win playing a pivotal role in beating Lionel Messi's Barcelona 4-0. He should be nowhere near the national team.
@@edmann1820he dragged Liverpool to a final? Really? How many big games he been absolutely cooked? Since you used the Champions League…can you think of a big one? Terrible defender with zero positional awareness. You are delusional.
Do we need the irritating musical backing track?
Southgate needs Bobby Knight energy
"Saying that, it's the same England that got to the final" - that's called the Ten Hag argument: "Utd are generally awful but he (somehow) won a cup". 😅
In my opinion, Southgate's style is designed to keep things tight, to get a 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1 against the big teams. Unfortunately, against the small teams it makes them look pretty poor.
Southgate isnt only England problem, HE IS FOOTBALL PROBLEM. He is like bus driver being ask to driver F1, his mental wont change. I think FIFA should ban southgate from coaching any club or any country because he ruin football
3 RB's in a starting 11, There are simply no world class English managers, the premier league will always be dominated by foreign managers
He's been the problem demoralized lacks ideas wishing he could play 2 defensive midfielders there is not one team in the premier league or the league below that would have him as manager
i believe in southgate, ppl are too critical, england hasnt lost a game yet in the euros
Is it even a question
Is he??? Is that a real question! Ffs yes he is!
Pundits hopeless non blame Southgate crazy
