Honestly, the idea of a "Beastmaster Box" would be _awesome_ as a Kill Team. On another note, the current set of Court of the Archon models are crazy expensive right now. You need a minimum of 4 models in that unit. At $20 a pop, that's *$80* for a single unit. And not like a great unit, or some big centerpiece model. That's approaching the price of the old Start Collecting boxes...for Court of the Archon. They definitely need a refresh that puts them in plastic, and at a cheaper price. Like, it would be inconvenient if it was a kit that made one of each - if you wanted to have multiples of a single kind - but it would be the most likely solution. And you can at least make the unit larger if you wanted, so extras aren't going to waste. Personally, if I wanted Court models, I'd go with third party proxies. I've been looking at some neat character models from Privateer Press, from their Warmachine line, that I could get second hand for relatively cheap.

On your suggestion, I picked up Kill Team and I played my first game last night. My Thousand Sons completely tabled the Harlequins. We’re both brand new players so I don’t expect that to happen again. Lol
I own a Drukhari army, it was my second one and I have had all of those models in multiple numbers for some time now. I think if they are taking them away to make them all plastic later I would be more than okay with that. I don't think there is any ill will towards anyone who owns any of the armies that these leaving models are from but that maybe if we are lucky they are getting rid of their resin models for plastics.
It's not just 40k stuff disappearing. They just released the Warcry Tome of Champions 2021 which includes rules for using Underworlds warbands in Warcry, only to rotate out all the older Underworlds warbands minis.
As an avid drukhari player I am sad they're officially nuking a 3rd of our already small range. We haven't had a new unit (not counting resculpts) for over a decade and lost almost all our characters, some of the resculpts were nice don't get me wrong (draz and incubi) but it's not enough support imo. On the flip side of this maybe this signals these models are going to plastic resculpts which would be nice. Drukhari is an army built to be customised and converted, give us rules for our characters and let us go nuts with the modelling!
Farsight Enclaves symbol is a "Magic" Mushroom! The things that break people out of their conditioning and give them...well, a new kind of a "Far (Out) Sight!"
With your Gene stealer cult maybe add more colors to make the seperate details pop more? Right now it very samey in areas... That or mix the 3 collors you are using by using them on the same materals as more Pirmary, Secodary and Accents.
I got 4 ur-ghul's off eBay from a box set they were included with I think for £12, then I got a rival game murder of crows set with loads of birds as stand ins for the razor wings. What I found a pain in the ass was that I could only buy most of those models directly off GW, so no independent discounts.
Personally, I think that the space marine range would be fine if they just combined a bunch of units. for example, inceptors and suppressors could easily be the same thing, or assault intercessors and normal intercessors could be the same thing, with just wargear changes.
@@EdwardWB97 In a perfect world, these models shouldn't go away either. But if they can't keep stuff in stock, why not start with models that are completely redundant instead of a third of one faction's codex?
Tactically done I’d say. No more boxes with a mass of gun options for marines (then you can just get bodies and third party or whatever). Less plastic used and you need to buy more boxes!
Orks are the same way if you try to pick out all the details on every model. Luckily with mobs nobody really notices if you painted every belt or belt buckle, etc.
I have the Ur-Ghuls (although I bought them in plastic from the Blackstone fortress), the Clawed Fiend (which was an absolute hoot to paint), the Medusae (cool model again), the Khymerae, the Mandrakes and a Grotesque. If I remember correctly the only model I had problems putting together was the Grotesque. The rest were easy. One of the issues is that by the rules you are limited to how many models you can take. How cool would a unit of 10 Medusae be? No you are only allowed max 3, as long as you don't take any of the other Court members.
I didn’t really care for the court of the Arcon or the beast master and his beasts. The grotesques are kinda gross but they are a large part of one of the 3 big subfactions. The mandrakes are really cool and I hope they get a plastic model in the next few years. I would love to see another named character or two that could be fielded in a game.
Idea... possibly go for a warmer colour on the gene cults. Perhaps give them a BioShock green, bronze sort of colour. Genestealers are typically pictured grey, blue but I think warmer colours could really give them that earthy mining industry feel.
Back in the day the LOTR game had hero boxes. You could buy the fellowship together or individually. Idk how long it was around, but back in 03 it was there. Hero boxes are a great idea, or at least let them come with a squad or something
Tbh for most of these models Drukhari collectors just kitbash them from something else (usually AOS), and ur-ghuls we got the plastic ones from blackstone fortress on ebay. I can say from experience finecast mandrakes are horrible. So from GW's perspective they simply were not selling, so makes sense to "rotate" them.
I know you've probably already heard of Tabletop Minions. He has a video that might inspire you on painting your Genestealer cult models. I believe it's called "Stop painting so much". It's topic is on whither or not you need to paint each and every thing-a-ma-bob and dodad or if skipping some items can actually make the model look better. Don't know if you'll check it out or not but maybe it's just the inspiration that will give you the look you have been wanting. If your model looks cluttered and you can't put your finger on why, maybe Uncle Adam's advice is just what you need. Though redoing all that work again probably isn't in the cards.
They’ve done the range rotation for Middle Earth for a while, you end up having to buy certain minis when they are made to order. I think in the most part the minis going into rotation are finecast, hopefully plastic alternatives come in time.
Dark Eldar were always more or less the most ignored faction in the game. Ever since their big push in 3rd edition they always seemed like a complete after thought. Not sure if this is a regional thing, but I can't even remember the last time I saw a Drukari player. Like it might have been in 2005... I can't even remember what their models look like?
I’ve got one friend who’s all in on them since he played back in 3rd and then took a break til 9th. He really likes them. And they were a menace on the open play tables for a while earlier in 9th.
As a new druk player, i was BAFFLED that the court of the archon can't be built playable with a single kit. I feel like that should be standard procedure. Also: i have already bought some Toughest Girls in the Galaxy proxies to use as Wracks and Grotesques, and that was only because covens have been in high demand recently.
What about using varying saturation levels of their tyranid bug skin. Like that blue you used. Darken it for cloth, mute it for the armor, brighten it for the symbols, and brown/blacken it for the leathers. That way you can keep the guns, gun colored and add other Select colors for variance. Like a little green on the cloth, maybe some of the meat skin pink in the symbols. Personally I'd keep the guns and nades in Like normal colors of guardsmen or pdf for flavor reasons. Like forest green frags and red krak, and wood colored furniture on the guns
realistically the Drukhari Codex is already a 1 year old. So all they have to do is rotate them back in when the New Codex drops and keep them in the catalog as general release for 3 months and then shift it to Build to Order for 6 more months. then rotate them out. Basically, rerelease the models every time the New Codex drops.
For your genestealer cult mini, why not paint the pants, pouches, and other leather items in the same color? As if they have synthetic leathers for their clothing materials
Rumours are that emperor's children are the launch for 10th too though.. and the ones saying similar Rumours have been right before. Also, 10th won't be next year due to the effect of the pandemic making them 2 years behind schedule.
If you like knights Jay, have you ever played Battletech or checked out some of the lore/books? Very much the inspiration and really cool, chivalrous knights in space
Beast master (and beasts) as well as the court of the archon should have their own box anyway. Although judging from the new Warlock box for Aeldari they still will be to expensive for what they bring. Bless my 3d printer.
I think Genestealer Cults can be easily summarised as they're hard to play, so it follows they're hard to build and paint. And I say that as someone who loves the faction. They're... a bit of a mental commitment. And my other favourite faction, the Drukhari... sigh. I really hope the model retirement is a sign of plastic friends. After all, the GSC Broodcoven has several models together. Your Beastmaster etc. idea has some merit! And the Ynnead set that used to exist for Ynnari. What I really want though, is plastic Mandrakes. They're just such good models but being Finecast was just a no for me.
Dark Eldar player here, little sad about it because i never got to grab the grotesques i wanted. Guess i'll have to fill out the army with talos/cronos engines *shoulder shrug*
I bought my Drukhari Codex in February. I got the Piety and Pain Box for MSRP, 4 Ghuls from the Blackstone Fortress Box and a single Succubus from eBay, got the Combat Patrol on a nice 30% discount and bought a Talos, a Lhamaen, Sslyth and Medusae from GW/a Warhammer Store.... And I just killed my plans to buy the other things one by one over the next year: so I bought 3 Grotesques, a set of 5 Mandrakes and the Beastmaster on Sunday to at least get those. I'm a bit unsure about the 3 Beasts, but I think I also try to get them, too. Not that my pile of shame was big enough bevor this rotation. I Like the sculps - yes, even the Birds. But Urien? I don't like that Model! The Stats are nice but he is just ugly - nothing cool, dark, evil or psychotic there. Just ugly.
Of the 2.5 billion space marine units my favorite are the Combobulators followed closely by the Discombobulators.

Old boxes of the knight box dont contain all the sprues, but the GW webstore lists them all as having everything
On your suggestion, I picked up Kill Team and I played my first game last night. My Thousand Sons completely tabled the Harlequins. We’re both brand new players so I don’t expect that to happen again. Lol
The knight looks fantastic especially your green stuff banners!!!
I think you would do justice to a titan but I can respect that it’s just not what you’re wanting to do.
I agree. We need more of that all important rotation information 🧐
Underworld rotates anyway so those warbands are probably not viable in the current cycle?
As an avid drukhari player I am sad they're officially nuking a 3rd of our already small range. We haven't had a new unit (not counting resculpts) for over a decade and lost almost all our characters, some of the resculpts were nice don't get me wrong (draz and incubi) but it's not enough support imo. On the flip side of this maybe this signals these models are going to plastic resculpts which would be nice. Drukhari is an army built to be customised and converted, give us rules for our characters and let us go nuts with the modelling!
We still have the kabalite, wych and haemonculous troops though? I have about 4K of Drukhari but never bothered with all the beast related troops.
Farsight Enclaves symbol is a "Magic" Mushroom! The things that break people out of their conditioning and give them...well, a new kind of a "Far (Out) Sight!"
Im hoping for a speedy turn around with new plastic. Not going to happen, but I can dream.
RIP Snikrot, you will be missed
With your Gene stealer cult maybe add more colors to make the seperate details pop more? Right now it very samey in areas... That or mix the 3 collors you are using by using them on the same materals as more Pirmary, Secodary and Accents.
How long was the recovery time after that knight day?
Oh god that knight looks gorgeous
I got 4 ur-ghul's off eBay from a box set they were included with I think for £12, then I got a rival game murder of crows set with loads of birds as stand ins for the razor wings.
What I found a pain in the ass was that I could only buy most of those models directly off GW, so no independent discounts.
Personally, I think that the space marine range would be fine if they just combined a bunch of units. for example, inceptors and suppressors could easily be the same thing, or assault intercessors and normal intercessors could be the same thing, with just wargear changes.
That and phasing out the firstborn already. We all knew it was going to happen, might as well clear up a heap of room if it's so much on premium!
@@DaThingOnTheDoorstep firstborn should never go away
@@EdwardWB97 In a perfect world, these models shouldn't go away either. But if they can't keep stuff in stock, why not start with models that are completely redundant instead of a third of one faction's codex?
Tactically done I’d say. No more boxes with a mass of gun options for marines (then you can just get bodies and third party or whatever).
Less plastic used and you need to buy more boxes!
I’d be ok with this - intercessors and assault intercessors in the same box. Heavy intercessors and eradicators in the same box.
"Return in due course" - I'm sure they said the same thing with Squats 🤣🤣🤣
I like the hero box idea and am happy GW are moving away from Finecast, I refuse to buy those Necron mini lol Nice chat fella
thank you for the great videos my brother from another mother
Druks already kinda got a small pool of units. Bit of shame. Hopefully they update the grotesques in the near future
the crypt horrors with Talos bits can make for a sick conversion in the meantime if you're interested ☺️
This is precisely it. The models aren't gone forever.
I’m hoping to see a Grotesque box with three in the box for less than $70
me too
Dark Eldar were always more or less the most ignored faction in the game.
Do you mean apart from the entire range refresh back in 5th edition?
Have you seen Mantics Firefight. New edition is 2.0
As a new druk player, i was BAFFLED that the court of the archon can't be built playable with a single kit.
I feel like that should be standard procedure.
Also: i have already bought some Toughest Girls in the Galaxy proxies to use as Wracks and Grotesques, and that was only because covens have been in high demand recently.
I'm pretty confident that when the Court comes back, it will be one box with all the various members.
They’ll be the 10th edition adversary for the starter set, out next year. Book it.
Rumours are that emperor's children are the launch for 10th too though.. and the ones saying similar Rumours have been right before.
Also, 10th won't be next year due to the effect of the pandemic making them 2 years behind schedule.
have you tried orange for the genestealer cult clothes?
Never awake Early enough for an upload this is a treat
Do you know when the dark eldar will be rotated out?
Honestly I think GW is starting to rotate out Fine-Cast and Resin Models. Then remake all "Core" codex entries as solely plastic.
They’ve been doing it for a while.
Question is what happens to models that don’t get plastic kits.
I definitely would have bought a box with all four current Cryptek models
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
A Cyan Scrunchie FOR THE WIN!!
I just started drukhari and I am devastated to hear that they just vanished
If you like knights Jay, have you ever played Battletech or checked out some of the lore/books? Very much the inspiration and really cool, chivalrous knights in space
Beast master (and beasts) as well as the court of the archon should have their own box anyway. Although judging from the new Warlock box for Aeldari they still will be to expensive for what they bring. Bless my 3d printer.
I just bought a kaptin badrukk only because it's such a silly and awesome model. Guess I was right on time.
I think they're going to bring back Vect and update some of the Drukhari models
Vect almost never takes to the battlefield. I would say Duke Sliscus or The Decapitator would be more likely...
@@batteredwarrior or maybe Lady Malys?
I think Genestealer Cults can be easily summarised as they're hard to play, so it follows they're hard to build and paint. And I say that as someone who loves the faction. They're... a bit of a mental commitment. And my other favourite faction, the Drukhari... sigh. I really hope the model retirement is a sign of plastic friends. After all, the GSC Broodcoven has several models together. Your Beastmaster etc. idea has some merit! And the Ynnead set that used to exist for Ynnari. What I really want though, is plastic Mandrakes. They're just such good models but being Finecast was just a no for me.
You could get a recast Reaver, way less expensive, or get into 3d printing and print your own.
Dangerously close to Tim Allen Home Improvement grunt on that “how”
I'm afraid the Tyranid Red Terror will be one that goes out of rotation and never comes back.
Jay would in fact go on to build a titan.
Dark Eldar player here, little sad about it because i never got to grab the grotesques i wanted. Guess i'll have to fill out the army with talos/cronos engines *shoulder shrug*
How fitting that little Jay skipped school assembly to go look up the GW website in the computer lab 🤣🖥
I have 2 clawed fiends one is painted. No beast master though
Dark Eldar only have 1 Elite choice for sell.
your best colour theme you done with the Deathguard and drunk. So think about genstealer and get drunk again :D
Genestealer Cult have a hero box kinda with the boodcoven box so it's not like GW won't do it.
I'm hoping that if/when ur-ghuls come back, they just use the plastic Blackstone Fortress models.
Just ugly.
You could probably proxy the beast with the old chaos warhounds on ebay
