Thank you! My wife and I, both retired, have been to Poland twice: first when we arrived from the States on the way to Ukraine, and second when we went to process work visas. Now we are ready to leave Ukraine, but we are not ready to leave Europe. Krakow was amazing both times we were there. Gdansk looks really interesting. I am still teaching a few English composition courses online, so I'm hoping to continue that. We enjoy the open plaza feel of Old Town. What advice would you give to retired educators considering Poland as a retirement destination? Thank you. Dean & Cindy

Hi Dean and Cindy. We love the idea of retiring in Poland! It has beautiful cities, delicious food, and comparatively a low cost of living. But it really does come down to preference. If you enjoyed your time in Poland in the past, we think you will love Poland as a retirement destination.

Thank you Eva Hussain and Kasia Moleda, How do we proceed with residency? Our SS and pensions total around $3200, $30k in savings, and we own our condo ($270k).
It seems that medical insurance in Europe is costly; in Oregon, our Social Security and my pensions cover our US medical insurance.
      Thanks.
      Dean

      Hi @@DeanRamser,
Unfortunately we don't deal directly with residency, only European citizenship. We recommend speaking to a residency specialist directly! Good luck

If I may join in the exchange of opinions - I have lived in Krakow for 52 years and that may be why I am not objective but it is a city on a human scale. My opinion.

@@DeanRamser US Citizens get a reasonable deal in Poland. Although Poland is in the Schengen Zone, US citizens can leave Poland once every three months and come back into Poland for another three months. Albania gives the best deal for US Citizens in Europe: a 365 day visa.

Can an American purchase a small home or cottage?
