One year after the Righteous Brothers release. Check out the origin and history of this classic song to hear some of the 1,500 versions. With Bobby Hatfield having the most acclaim and popular version of this song.

Cissy Houston was the source, not Whitney....but I get it.

This is from a live performance in Paris. When Dionne broke in the 60’s, she also broke in Europe and especially in France and Belgium.

You have enjoyed Leann Rimes in past songs you've listened to of her. One of my was her rendition of Unchained Melody. I get chills listening to that song. I didn't know Dionne could sing it so well.

If I didn't know I would swear she was Whitney mum!

You mean if you didn’t know you would swear Whitney was Dionne. Which of course she never was. Dionne has always been a better technical singer, phraser, and communicator via song, than Whitney. Whitney had amazing pipes…period!

Whitney? If anything, you're hearing Cissy Houston, who was doing it before Dionne, Dee Dee and Whitney. Cissy was a tangible influence on all three.

Yeah well Cissy was never top tier Vegas cabaret like Dionne. She never had an international muse like Bacharach. She was perfect in her realm: gospel. She certainly was the biggest inspiration to both Dionne and then much later Whitney. But they all had their echelon and their era. But none had an artistic muse of magnificence and magnitude like Dionne: Burt Bacharach.

@@ScottPothan Are you serious? Dionne, Dee Dee and Cissy all were session singers for Burt Bacharach. Cissy was even the featured singer on three of Bacharach's solo albums. Have you heard her incredible version of One Less Bell To Answer? This myth that Cissy's realm is gospel is some BS that began after Whitney became a superstar.
I was seeing Cissy Houston in Manhattan nightclubs before anyone knew who Whitney was. The first time was at Kenny's Castaways in the village in the summer of 1980. Whitney was 16 and singing backup for her mom. I saw Cissy with Whitney and her brother, Gary as backup singers until 1984. Her set would include an occasional gospel song but that was it. Cissy has done way more pop, R&B and disco than gospel. Her first solo gospel album wasn't until 1996. Are you aware of her legendary tenure with Elvis Presley? How deeply have you investigated her solo discography? Cissy Houston didn't become the highest paid backup singer in the industry by singing gospel.

@@TruthSerum101 are YOU serious! This is about Dionne. And she was huge internationally in the 1960’s. Far bigger than Cissy was then. Who is talking about Whitney here? She’s a decade and half later than her mother and her cousin. Fact

Sixties music was elegant and highly professional. All the music is focusing on the vocal performance without the useless current noisy slime.
