I knew a guy that used to hire truck drivers saying that they were a dime a dozen. His trucks were as often either in the shop or in a ditch. He never totally understood that the problem was in his bathroom mirror every morning. Sigh! Another professional job very well executed guys. Thank God at least you guys are diligent and professional in each step of your recoveries. I couldn't imagine the carnage out there if Pepe's went with the lowest cost option in regards to hiring drivers. Stay safe and healthy guys.

I was dying to make smart-ass jokes about how many vatos does it take to siphon fuel, but you guys actually did good. Impressive recovery. Yeah, there's been a trend of more and more drivers on the road from eastern europe and the middle east on our roads with little to no training, almost no english, and not a lot of respect for our laws.
The DOT requires that Commercial Drivers Read and Speak English. Too bad it isn't enforced. I'm hearing about these "steering wheel holders" buying licenses "illegally", even running on someone eases license to avoid the HOS rule.
Man I haul produce all up and down California pretty standard monotonous work been watching your videos for a few months now and I have to admit this job while dangerous and highly technical looks fun as hell! I’m relocating to so cal in a few months might have to reach out to Pepe’s and see if they are hiring and willing to train a complete rookie lol! Keep up the bad ass work fellas! This was a really interesting job. Watching Dave and Alex working in unison to swing the trailer and tractor around for easy hook up was like a dance. Good teamwork from friendly competitors who know the value of respect for fellow tow operators. Edit: That short post is actually a safety hazard to vehicles and pedestrians. It should be higher up and painted so it stands out. And you all add fun & laughter to every job. Nice of Alex to give his coffee to Java Joe.
Great parking job there. Even better the extraction with live power lines to watch out for right in the middle of the work area. Teamwork to get it done in a safe way, and only a few tons of kitty litter needed to fix the leaks, and using the punctured tank to dispose of the litter as well, doing a double job in getting it off scene, and keeping any residual in the tank bound up. One seriously strong pole though, the ground gave way, but not that bollard. Bit of concrete and it will be back on duty again soon enough. Not too much damage to the rig though, missed all the really expensive parts, though Volvo will be making a nice bit off the spares needed to fix it.

I worked for a trucking company was replaced by a foreign driver his first run out wrecked 5 cars not a mile away from the yard what made it funny was me and the other driver that was replaced were in the yard at the time it happened nice to laugh at the company owner trying to explain what happened and us laughing across the road 😂
Back in 2021, I went back to being a OO, the company I was driving for, put an untrained driver in the W9 I was driving, with in no time, the company had to replace a drive axle, hood, motor and trans, one of the truck bosses told me, he wished I’d have stayed in the truck

It would be neat if Semi-trucks could do that, incase they got a punctured tank. Manufactures should really get on that!
11:06 BC rules - Cali would be similar. Look where that transformer is located. High voltages above and lower voltage below. Above the transformer is two sets of conductors. The top set have more insulators and are spaced further apart on two sets of cross trees one above the other. They are the highest voltage conductors in this particular pole line set up. Transmission lines. Below them is that second set of conductors, 3, side by each on the same cross tree located above the transformer. They too are also high voltage. Just not as high as the ones on the top. It's an additional high voltage circuit for local distribution to these warehouses. Two high voltage powerlines on one pole line. The double cross trees on the second set are a red flag. The single cross tree below the second set above the transformer have the conductors and fuses on them protecting the transformer on the high voltage side. Fourth from the top (below the transformer) would be the bare or white wire (neutral) affixed to a white insulator immediately followed by perhaps two or three insulated low voltage conductors on dark insulators immediately below the bare wire within this low voltage grouping if mounted on the pole. Those are the lower voltage conductors servicing buildings or signs or whatnots (in this case street lights) In this case they are mounted on a cross tree with two conductors on one side of it @ 21:19. These wires are fed from the low voltage side of the tiny transformer and the neutral wire mentioned above. There could even be a second set below that in some cases. All that would be located below the transformer. Low(er) voltage insulated conductors. Below that was the street lighting fed from the wiring above it. And the last wire on that pole above the ground over the driveway was the Messenger wire bonding all the poles together and all the non current carrying parts and every few poles connected to a plate located under the bottom of the pole ( or perhaps a rod). Should be no current carrying but there is no way for you to know that so still wise to stay away from it. If they were there (which they aren't) 5 feet lower again below the secondary low voltage wires below the transformer and the messenger wire are the cable and tel conductors located in the sets closest to the ground. They would still be 5.5 metres above that driveway though. The pole on the other side of the driveway also has a lot of electrical gear on it hence the double and single cross trees again. There could be high voltage disconnects on some poles but the high voltage parts are always way up above that bare bond wire running between the pole line poles. There could also be underground drops coming down the poles as well but those wires will be insulated and inside covers called pilasters embedded in concrete at the bottom of the poles they come down on. They are not the arcing hazard of the bare high voltage wires you are concerned about unless they have been damaged by something like a vehicle running into them for example. Again you never know. Good eye Alex analyzing all the various configurations that could be up there that could weld your truck to the ground. Every pole is different. Contact your local experts for more information. I bet the POCO has a print out of common pole configurations including tables of maximum approach distances to stay out of for operators such as yourself. Quite the job for a simple miss. Big bill on this one. Good to see so many of you working together like the well oiled team you are.

I'm a new driver with 2 years exp and my goal everyday is to be safe! These "steering wheel holders" give the whole trucking industry a bad name. I also wanted to give props to the yellow pole for saving that Jeep's life! It did it's job!
There are plenty of steering wheel holders in the world, the problem with many vehicles is an interface one. The interface between the rear of the seat and the steering wheel. ! Thanks for the video,

That initial lift under the high tension power lines was risky!! getting close to those can create a circuit to ground ZAPPP! ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡I knew a guy years ago who copped a full load when a crane came close to lines and jumped to him as he was near the cranes hook.
Life would be a lot easier if truck drivers would learn early on that the Bollard Always Wins. Also, the hum from that passing freight train ... you can almost FEEL the power of the passing railcars ....
