“I’ve taught kids before…” Yes, and baised on the, “How I take Care of Kids” video, you also know how to puni-Err, I mean, ‘know how to *disipline* them.’ Yeah, totally what I meant from the start.
The thing that I would change about the "I can explain" scene is that instead of angry or disappointed, Alva just laughs because "You were so much smarter, you already know I wanted to do the same!" And then some of the folks in town laughs saying "yeah, this was a hell hole because of us, we don't blame you for wanting to leave, we are glad you at least did something great in the process", like, they didn't give any reason to stay until he was sent to that place. Klaus may be a bit disappointed but not that much, just disappointed that his friend didn't told him.
Like dude just open your damn mouth and say you wanted to stay you had a lot of time to do that yet you keep stuttering!!!!!!!!!! AUGH IT MAKES ME WANT TO FOAM AT THE MOUTH!!!!!!!!!
I think the reason that everyone was so angry with Jesper was that his attempts to explain were directed at them. If he had changed and was going to stay, he would have explained to his father. They were angry because they knew he was selfish and thought he had changed, but it seemed like he wasnt. I think your revision would have conveyed this idea better though.
Pleasssseeeee, i love this movie. My best Christmas movie of all time. It's my comfort movie and gets watched maybe five times a year since it came out. It's such a shame that I didn't see a lot of people react to this movie. Absolutely stole my heart. It's just so beautiful, funny, cute, comforting and has so much for everyone both kids and adult. Along with 'missing link'.
I'm the exact same!!!!!! I love this movie and I watch it so much that my family and friends are getting sick of it 😂. The Missing Link is also fantastic!!!!! Beautiful stop motion animation! Keep an eye out, cause the company behind it (Laika) just announced recently that they're working a new movie called Wildwood! I'm excited!!!!
I felt the same way with the confrontation scene, but my version of how to fix it was that Jesper would brace himself for the townsfolk to be furious, only for them to thank him for everything he's done and generally wish the best for him/tell him to visit (with Alba and Klaus being sad that Jesper is leaving), and that is ultimately what makes Jesper not board the boat.
I loved this movie, but I agree with the misunderstanding part, saw it from a mile away 😂 As for the magic, I interpreted it as Claus' wife's spirit guiding him
So this town is called Smeerensburg but it's actually inspired by a Dutch/Danish Whaling station called Smeerenburg. It's a small change but still cool. And Sami isn't the name of the girl but the Indigenous group she's apart of! The little girl's name is Margu
LOVED this movie, the characters, and the animation. I wanted to rewatch it for Christmas 2021 but the relationship between Klaus and his wife made my partner & I imagine one losing the other, and we were both sad wrecks by the end. That scene where he’s walking away, presumably going to her, just hit so hard for some reason. I don’t know if or when we’ll be OK to rewatch it without getting heartbroken again, but it was a wonderful movie nonetheless. It was really cool to hear your thoughts on it as well!
God I was sobbing at the end. The ending plus Christmas eggnog, spiked of course, it really got to me. Klaus is a really good Christmas movie and it's probably one of the new Christmas classics that we have. I can imagine myself watching this with my eventual kids or my brother's kids as the cool uncle who shows them cool movies.
Gosh, really? You didn't enjoy much this movie? I am surprised! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a Christmas movie until this one came along. I absolutely loves this movie. I love the art style. I love the fact that it's 100% hand-drawn animated. I love the character of Klaus. I love how it cleverly incorporate Santa's mythology into reality. I love this movie, my family loves this movie and this film is why I want to be an animator.
personally, I loved this movie, although I agree with you about the 'misunderstanding' trope. As an artist, I greatly appreciated the animation (it was flipping gorgeous and I loved the character design) and I saw it as a refreshing take on Christmas movies. It quickly became a favorite between me and my siblings. it spawned many fun inside jokes and we would get excited about our favorite parts. a funny thing that happened at the end of the movie when they implied that Santa clause is a ghost, I randomly said "So ThAt'S hOw He DoEs It, He'S dEaD!" still brought up to this day lol side note: if Santas a ghost then that makes me look at Nightmare Before Christmas in an entirely new light XD
After seeing your revision, I’d say that you’re revision is definitely better and delivers a stronger emotional gut punch. However, your criticism of the pacing felt off, since it feels like they spent an adequate amount of time on everything that they needed, the town becoming better and the characters various arcs signify points of progression. It didn’t feel slow at all. Now about the movie-This is now my favorite Christmas movie. It handles characters amazingly, phenomenal animation that has the best of 2D & 3D. (Not Spider-Verse levels of phenomenal, but this is showing how movies are starting to have more and more unique animation styles and *I love that)* This also feels like an original take on Santa that is very refreshing. I like the mystical guy from the North Pole as much as anyone, but I’ve seen that played over and over and over. With this movie, it feels like a grounded Santa Klaus that could live next door and actually exist. And considering that the theme is about how average people from the mail carrier to the teacher to the woodsman can all make the world better by generosity, it’s nice seeing Santa grounded. It’s not required for a theme like that, but I love it nonetheless. Plus, it’s cool to see how it adapts all the Christmas tales into rumors and redesigns the elves to be the (I don’t know how to spell it) people, and how it ties the little girl into it. Plus, I mean… Alva’s pretty hot… 🥴
I remember my art teacher being all over this movie and recommended it to me. Honestly really loved it for the art giving it that 3D look. That confused me so much most of the movie always asking myself “is this 2D mixed with 3D? If so they mixed them together well” and I looked it up after and I was like “BRO THIS WAS ALL 2D?! MY GOD THAT IS WACK!” All in all a pretty good movie lol didn’t like that misunderstanding part either but it was still a good movie lol
I miss 2D animation. We need more movies like this! I’d love that so much! This movie was great and has so much soul to it. I think one of my favorite scenes was when the first kid found their present and Klaus’ eyes light up watching them have the time of their life playing around at night. It was so sweet… ☺️
3:35 Ros Mo: “It’s either her or the old hag…” *Meme-based overdramatic gasp.* Have you forgotten about the hundreds of adorable little girls in the town? They’re all so wholesome. I mean, it doesn’t really beat her as best girl, but I’d say the little girl that the protagonist can’t understand at least gives her a run for her money…
Oh I remember this AU on tumblr,Klaus turned into North the Santa of Rise of the Guardians! It was kinda cute cause Jesper turns into a spirit too. Speaking of which have you covered that movie? If not,you should,it's really good.
Normally it's Disney I go to for Christmas classics, but Netflix have definitely been strutting their stuff in the last few years with works like these 😊
Maybe this is a big stretch, but I think in "big snitch revelation betrayal" they were indeed sad and dissapointed but they are watched by those elders and they knew from kids they want to ruin the Christmas so they prentend to be angry at Jasper to not blow up their cover (no put intended) and also expressing their dissapoinment with exarration that would make believeable not just Jasper to make feel guilty, but also the elders who would feel pride for accomplishing 1st phase of their plan. It's only cliché when you look at from "classical" perspective. I saw that scene same way as you until I found about the present-decoy which made look at the scene from different angle. But maybe I overthinking too much.
I love this movie, this is one of those movies that I love to watch every year on Christmas. Sure it's not perfect and I do agree that the part where everyone got mad at Jesper was a bit cliché but I still think is a great movie in fact the last scene always makes me cry so... yeah
I don't have much to complain about with the slow bits of the movie, for me it was more like "I like these characters and I'm glad it gave me the chance to spend more time with them instead of getting me invested in them and then ending so quickly that it leaves me wanting to see more of them, which probably wouldn't happen as a sequel would ruin its charm.
This truly is an amazing movie, it has quite an awesome moral and it does amazing with its very unique art style. “Be nice because I’m watching you” - Ros Mo. I seriously loved that quote you did in the end, it didn’t have anything to do with the movie but I thought it was funny.
I love this movie w my whole heart and it was so amazing to see Sami representation! (Loved the detail where its not translated so non-native speakers dont really understand but you can still understand the FEELINGS) but the MUSIC, the ANIMATION and ART, EVERYTHING IS TOP TIER!! this is my most feel-good movie to me and i will forever watch it around christmas
I watched this movie with my mom around Christmas last year, and we both loved it. I remember putting it in my list on Netflix when it first came out, but I never watched it. Until we were trying to find a good movie to watch, and suddenly it sprang back into my memory. Like you said, it's slow, but honestly it's beautiful. It was definitely my cup of tea.
I'm sure someone else said it somewhere, but the little girl's name is Margu, you can see it at the bottom of the letter when they're teaching her to write. Hope that helps, love your videos
I found the movie in 2019 when it came out and it immediantly became a classic Christmas movie in my family, this is the third year we've watched it! We all love this movie a lot💕✨ and i especially love the italian dubbing
Watched this movie literally last night with my brother and... have you ever watched a movie so good it brought you to tears. Like it wasn't even that sad it was just so good it made me cry. And the little Márgu oooooh! My heart.... It's just... It's an amazing movie.
@@RosMo4 this might be sounds out of nowhere, but if you do want to get a recommandation for your next animation rewiew, then i do love to give you "Road to El Dorado", because, even for some kind of strange reason that i remember you already had one for that animation, i just search it like 30 minutes ago and i didn't find a rewiew video you made for it. So i say, go for this one Ros mo. And do it for the friendship!
This movie is only a few years old, but watching it has already become a Christmas tradition with me and my best friend. We put it on in the background during the Christmas dinner with new housemates two years ago and did it again this year. I just think it's really fun and funny. I paused the video at the part where you said Saami is the little girl's name to see if anyone had corrected you -- surprisingly I don't see any, so I'll do it. The girl's name is Margu, and she belongs to an indigenous people of Northern Europe called the Saami, which is also the name of the language she's speaking. You can find translations on the internet for all of her lines in the movie. I take it reading the rest of the comments that you didn't like this movie very much and your reasons, and I understand though I disagree. My friend actually hates the misunderstanding plot too, and I probably would have been more bothered if it wasn't so quickly over and done with. Another common complaint about the movie that I respectfully disagree with is the romance between Jesper and Alva being "forced." I don't like forced romance subplots, but it was so in the background here that it just felt like another thing that happened to occur and didn't detract from the main plot. And I agree, Alva is best girl (though Margu is adorable -- she should be a contender!)
Great Video Ros Mo. I just watched Klaus for the first time around late 2020 and it quickly became one of my all time favorite animated movies, soo it was really cool for you too talk about this movie. Like their are definitely some other movies/specials about the origin of santa clause, but in my opinion Klaus is my favorite version of santa's origin, but i totally understand how this movie wasn't your cup of tea. Also i must say, your editing and voice over was really good in this video. But yeah Great video ros mo, it was really interesting too see a different perspective on this movie. :D
When I first saw this movie I thought for sure that the main dude was the same voice actor for Kuzco and I thought the same thing for the dude playing Klaus I thought it was the same voice actor for Pancho. When I looked it up and found out they weren’t the same voice actors I was surprised
I love this movie!!! Not only does it put a new spin on the old Rankin/Bass stop motion movie, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", but also strikes a perfect balance between showing how the myths of Santa came into existence and keeping the magic/wonder that they inspire in kids. I encourage anyone who celebrates Christmas to show this to their kids. This movie does not deserve to be forgotten.
I remember back in late 2019 the animated media community was absolutely raving about this film. Fast forward to 3 years later and everyone seemingly forgot it existed.
I love this movie! I was scrolling through your videos and saw this one. Honestly every time I watched this I was scared of the storyline and the characters, but in the end I cried cause of how sweet it was.
I really loved this movie, and its funny cause I'm not a big fan of Christmas! I found the movie's take refreshing and really interesting! I was mainly obsessing over the animation and shape design of everything, as I found it really beautiful! I'd have to respectfully disagree with you on whether the movie was good or not, cause I found it amazing! I do like your revision better though, I did really like watching this and have a good day!:D
This movie is in looks, character design and even in story almost flawless. It has picturesque scenes and amazing visuals, the work and thought put in it, and character development is incredible. They also used a whole new side of animation which they themselves made, that's why its so 3D-ish tho its actually fully 2D. I'm really surprised to hear you didn't like it, since this movie is a big one. Of course I get it, we don't have the same expectations for a movie, but as someone who is in this field, believe me, this was a masterpiece, in every possible way!
Yeees!! I was waiting for your review on this movie, because I really liked this movie! Right now (after watching) I agree with you. I think the scene, when they were mad and all at Jasper bc he had a goal earlier and he didn’t told them but just said ,,I can explain” is pretty bad. In the scene when Jasper finds out that the presents were fake. I don’t know why, but at that scene I thought like his friends were like ,,Yea we never ever trusted you so we made a very bad joke to see how you will react 😂”. Like cmon! He literary almost died to show you that he had good intentions! But for me still I love this movie and I really enjoyed it!
I have heard of this, yes. I heard of it 3 years ago. I think it's brilliant ngl. The art style and character arcs are amazing and the story is moved forward by sometimes even minor scenes. Anybody who hasn't seen it, it's a MUST-watch. :]
Would it be possible if you review Flee in an upcoming Ever Heard Of video? I heard it's been named as one of the best films of 2021, and it's not only an animated film, but also an international and documentary film. The film is so compelling and emotional, and in my opinion, Flee is a masterpiece. There's even a chance it could get Oscar-nominated, so I was thinking you can check it out eventually, please? UPDATE: It's been nominated for Animated, Documentary and International Feature categories at the Oscars. Just as I expected. It's so good.
@@RosMo4 No problem. I can't wait for more Ever Heard Of videos in the future. :) Just wanted to tell you that Flee is an extraordinary animated movie. It is powerful, intimate, heartbreaking and tearjerkingly moving. It even has a huge potential on making Oscar history by getting nominated for Animated Feature, Documentary Feature and International Feature, even Best Picture. UPDATE: Just been nominated in all three categories outside Best Picture at the Oscars.
1:11 I'm so glad to not be the only one to notice these similarities!! He reminded me so much of kuzco. He even befriends a bigger taller fellow. I need more characters like kuzco, they make for great comic relief
(I know i'm commenting on this Even though its old) But GOSH the Stunning Quality took my breath away KNOWING its 2D though my brain was still tricked! Gosh! Also the small revision you had sounds pretty good i always never liked when characters go "I can explain" and then Just stand there in silence staring at eachother
I watched this movie for the first time on New Year, and I absolutely loved it, I teared up at the end. Well, the girl's name is Márgu and apparently she speaks Northern Saami, she even signs her letter and Jesper calls her name after that a couple times. I guess she understands them all, just doesn't speak english. The misunderstanding, ugh. Yeah, it's so cliché, a lazy way of confrontation I roll my eyes at. You spent 2-3 minutes being sad and blurting random words; you. Could've used. LESS than 1 minute explaining you were like that, now changed your mind, gotta think. THERE. I knew the magic wind was Klaus' wife, even blatant to me! Because that's the only magic we ever see, when pointing at Jesper behind his back, and when pulling Klaus away to finally rest. Great review :)
7:57 saami isn't her name, it's the name of her community. My knowledge on the saami is.... practically non-existent, but they're basically the natives of that area.
I watched this when i was little(er) and i cried. And from then on the existential crisis' began, i kept on thinking of death and stuff and was pretty sad for a 7-8 yr old
This was a beautiful movie, netflix often make quite interesting programs(cough* hallmark*cough*??? so when I watched this in December 2020 I honestly thought it would be crap but I was pleasently suprised, its fun, cute and the art gives off an overall nice vibe.
This is one of my favorite christmas movies of all time I love the animation its like a modern version early 2000's disney animations the imaginative story and the character development. Oh an the magic wind is the Will of klaus's late wife
Personally I loved watching it alone. It felt really cozy and nice. And at the time I was really into hype anime stuff, so I liked the change of pace. I guess stars aligned for me on that day.
10:59 Thank you! Finally someone said it! I love this movie but the townspeople had no reason to be pissy at Jesper just because he had his own reasons for helping the town. Edit: I love your changes for that scene. Would have worked great I think.
I love this movie so much! I watch it every Christmas! :D And for some reason I cried at the end And I LOVE the sailor, he is so sarcastic and just he is just funny >:)
omg im SOOOO glad im not the only one who's iffy about the "i can explain" scene, being a cliche isnt the problem, the way it was written is just... so stupid to me. Jasper having to leave isn't even a problem, its not like he signed a contract that forces him to leave the town forever and to never come back. It was weird how they wrote the scene like its such a big deal when it isnt

DAMN i love your idea for changing the "I can explain" scene, that line is such a banger!
Watched this movie literally last night with my brother and... have you ever watched a movie so good it brought you to tears. Like it wasn't even that sad it was just so good it made me cry. And the little Márgu oooooh! My heart.... It's just... It's an amazing movie.
Most of the time I watch movies alone so I found this movie really good alone, and with my family.
I watched this movie before and I really enjoyed it! Like it has a 2D animation vibe to it and a 3D vibe as well!
Now that you mentioned Kuzco, for some reason it feels like we need a "The emperors new groove" review if you havent done one already
OMG I'm so down for that!
"Its not a movie to watch alone" - *cries in has watched it alone like 7 times because I just like this movie so much*
This studio released a new film on Netflix called the Willibeys. The animation style is really cool. It’s 3D animated with a stop motion feel to it,
This is my absolute favorite Christmas movie ever made
Yesssss I frickin loved this movie. I hope to see more animated movies with similar styles like this. The movie was gorgeous and fun to watch.
I love Klaus. It's become a new winter tradition to watch it at least once.... usually more than once....
dammit Ro, had this on my bucket list. You just HAAD to make a review on it....I watched it and it was awesome.
I loved this movie, real good.
Thanks for watching! Yeah even if I say that I really liked the movie for what it is! 💛
bro I watched it like last year and it is so underrated good! deserve so much more
When I first saw this movie I thought for sure that the main dude was the same voice actor for Kuzco and I thought the same thing for the dude playing Klaus I thought it was the same voice actor for Pancho.
Congratulations on your recovery! Nice video!
Thank you very much! 😊
@@RosMo4 I also had a fever yesterday but luckily i recovered quickly recovered 👌
FINALLY SOMEOME WHO TALKS ABOUT KLAUS IT'S A GREAT MOVIE 💃
You mean this modern classic? YES
Klaus is a great movie the music is incredible as well
I remember back in late 2019 the animated media community was absolutely raving about this film. Fast forward to 3 years later and everyone seemingly forgot it existed.
I love this movie! I was scrolling through your videos and saw this one. Honestly every time I watched this I was scared of the storyline and the characters, but in the end I cried cause of how sweet it was.
"Some, magical door door dada"
Brown, got me laughing so hard!
oh all the feels i had watching this movie...
That ending narration actually brought a tear to my eye in a mere few seconds.
When I tell you I SOBBED the first time I saw the ending. Kind old men just hit different :(
I love this movie, it's my favorite Christmas movie ever. It's so great!
Can't wait for you to do one for EPIC :D
When I finish the list my patrons gave me, I'll check it out!
@@RosMo4 No problem. I can't wait for more Ever Heard Of videos in the future. :)
Just wanted to tell you that Flee is an extraordinary animated movie.
My husband and I were both crying at the end of this beautiful movie and watch it every year on Christmas.
1:11 I'm so glad to not be the only one to notice these similarities!! He reminded me so much of kuzco. He even befriends a bigger taller fellow. I need more characters like kuzco, they make for great comic relief
Even the drill sergeant was concerned
I adore this movie! It’s so pretty and the story’s nice too. Loved seeing it on Christmas morning ^^
(I know i'm commenting on this Even though its old)
But GOSH the Stunning Quality took my breath away KNOWING its 2D though my brain was still tricked!
Gosh! Also the small revision you had sounds pretty good i always never liked when characters go "I can explain" and then Just stand there in silence staring at eachother
oh, i loved that movie, i watched it a while ago and forgot what happened but i remember absolutely loving it
And CONGRATULATIONS ON ✨ 💫 🌟 ⭐️ *96.8K* ⭐️ 🌟 💫 ✨ SUBSCRIBERS, RRRRROOOOOSSSSSSSSSMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! 🎉 🎈 🎊
HAHAH THANK YOUUUU 💕💕💕💕💕💕
It was foolish to assume that anyone *DIDN’T* heard of it, but for good’ol Klaus, I’ll forgive you.
This movie actually ended up making me cry of happiness 😭
I fricking love this movie Klaus the best animated film of all time for me.
7:57 saami isn't her name, it's the name of her community. My knowledge on the saami is.... practically non-existent, but they're basically the natives of that area.
I decided to watch this with a friend one year and we basically just made jokes and our own version of it
I watched this when i was little(er) and i cried.
I love it when every episode you say R-r-r-Ros mo
before i even watch the video i want to say that klaus is my favorite Christmas movie,
This is one of my favorite christmas movies of all time I love the animation its like a modern version early 2000's disney animations the imaginative story and the character development. Oh an the magic wind is the Will of klaus's late wife
I just finished watching this movie yesterday, what a coincidence.
This movie got snubbed for best animated film of 2019, I forgot what it lost to but everyone was mad.
Edit: it was Frozen 2... it lost to Frozen 2
Oh my fricking gosh for reals? Klaus deserved it more ngl! 😭😭
I’ve rewatched this movie like a thousand times that’s how good it is lol
I'd love to see more from this studio in the future.
Personally I loved watching it alone. It felt really cozy and nice. And at the time I was really into hype anime stuff, so I liked the change of pace.
I guess stars aligned for me on that day.
First😊 let's go RRRRRRRos Mo, keep it grow until 1 million+ subs
10:59 Thank you! Finally someone said it! I love this movie but the townspeople had no reason to be pissy at Jesper just because he had his own reasons for helping the town.
Edit: I love your changes for that scene. Would have worked great I think.
I legit cried when I watched this first time with my younger sister. It was almost Christmas. 🤭
I wanted it alone before Christmas and I loved it~
This movie is awesome! And its so underrated >:0
You are amazing I love this video!😁😊❤😋😃
well I for sure enjoyed watching this review, got a "ranty while nodding in agreement" reaction out of me
I love this movie so much! I watch it every Christmas! :D
And for some reason I cried at the end
And I LOVE the sailor, he is so sarcastic and just he is just funny >:)
omg im SOOOO glad im not the only one who's iffy about the "i can explain" scene, being a cliche isnt the problem, the way it was written is just... so stupid to me. Jasper having to leave isn't even a problem, its not like he signed a contract that forces him to leave the town forever and to never come back. It was weird how they wrote the scene like its such a big deal when it isnt
