I’m at the beginning of my suspension adventure. I’m trying to learn what is good for what. I think I’m going to use light oil and light springs. Crawling in my gen 8 and I think I want heavy oil and whatever the stock springs are for my losi
I would think that for trail or crawling you would want your suspension to react very rapidly to keep your tires on the ground.. Every time your suspension compresses and moves your body upwards you are loosing traction.. This occurs when your shocks are slowing down the activity of the springs.. The only time you would want slow suspension is in high speed cornering on relatively flat surfaces to slow the transfer of weight and not load so much weight rapidly, making it more linear.. Stiff and slow suspension unloads or resist the loading of weight (less traction), soft and fast acting suspension loads weight (more traction).. Of course soft fast suspension is more prone to rollovers on fast sharp turns, because the tires are loading weight and gripping and not sliding so 360's are pretty much out of the question.. If you can do 360's without rolling over then your suspension is too stiff and not loading enough weight and not getting enough traction and just sliding.. This would be good for hot dogging but not good for crawling.. I run soft springs and 10 weight oil with 50/50 compression and droop (meaning when the RC is sitting still, it will compress my shocks 50%), this allows for great traction, also to go across small bumps rapidly without the body bouncing all over the place - only the tires move up and down very rapidly, thick oil would slow down the spring action and have the RC bouncing all over the place.. If you want to hot dog, slide around, dirt track, do 360's, go over jumps etc then thick oil is better, but if you want more traction then light oil is the best choice..
Thanks allot I have learned many things since I filmed this I still have the shocks on this truck but with 10wt oil and different spring set up much softer
Going to have to go with xt60 or ec3 because the the dean is only rated for 50amp and the xt60 is rated for 60amp also the Dean's doesn't have a plastic partition between the the connection points allowing it to spark when you plug it in that's why I don't use them but to each their own thanks for watching
I didn't want to take a chance of tearing the o rings up with the thread s and causing a leak but yep your way would work to thanks allot for watching have a good day my friend 👊🤘🏻👍🏻😃
@@AdventureTimeRC Wasn't trying to be rude just seems like the simple solution and the way Ive always done it. Normally using a bit of oil or grease to make sure it doesn't pinch or tear.

@@Boss-dr2zk honesty I don't remember lol it was a while ago I know they come with allot of different springs so you can tune it they way you like I am currently running heavy springs in the front and med in the back
Your shock oil is really thick. You don’t want really slow suspension like that for crawling. Actually its Most likely its probably just the pistons that only have 4 holes you only used 30wt so its probably the holes
This video is old i have 3 sets of these shocks now i don't even fill them now i just put it about half way with 10 weight works great thanks allot for watching I really appreciate it😀👊👊👍
These look better than the Hot racing ones I bought, simply because these come with instructions, other valves, the hot racing ones dont tell you anything, and your stuck with their pivots because the are machined into both sides of the shock. You also put too much oil in that shock.. it should go all the way in, with minimal rebound. That bounce is the tires..
I have had good luck with them so far no leaks I hold the plunger in all the way when I tighten them they can be hard to get set right but work good when you do I do wish they had a little softer set up sorry you had bad luck with them thanks for watching anyway if you have another brand of budget shocks you like to run please share I always like to try new set ups😁👍
Just picked up a set for my redcat gen8 V2 and wanted to see how you build them and you did a very good job of illustrating that
The secondary spring idea is for side hilling.
Wont let the body roll and flip the vehicle.
Those are some good upgrades! Awesome truck! Love the video like always!
Looks sweet, I think they will "hold the road" better as its rock crawling. Looking forward to them being put through testing
I tested it shocks work great come to find out the water proofing not so much lol
Awesome video was definitely some great upgrades like those shocks
Thank you brother I forgot about this video lol
I don’t know how it will work but I’m considering getting these in 120mm for my slash 2wd, hopefully it works well
Nice dude those are some great looking shock upgrade
Thanks allot man👍👍🚙😁😁
looks good bro..Wheels are sweet and the shocks seem to work just right
Yeah i think there going to be good thanks for the comment brother👍
Did you get the eyelet to go into the aluminum end of the shock? I have shock pliers and it ain't working. The other end is just fine
I use a small set of channel lock pliers and a thick piece of cloth wrapped around the shaft I get better grip that way atleast for me it works
Great job on the shock upgrade...😊thanks and may God bless you
Thank you and may god bless you to😁😁😁

Its fun to mess around with suspension mods and trying new springs
Great shock upgrade video👍👍
Thanks allot im really happy with the performance i will use them on other trucks in the future😁😁👍👍

I know it's kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good site to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Bjorn Hudson I use FlixZone. You can find it on google :)
@Anders Case Definitely, been watching on flixzone for months myself =)
@Anders Case yea, I've been watching on Flixzone for since march myself :D
A little di-electric silicone helps on a Deab;s plug
Copy that thank you!
What is the length of the ones in the video? Want green to go with the color scheme but cannot find green lizards in 100mm or 110mm.
These are 90mm but i do have 100mm on my vaterra in red i got them at the hobby store thanks allot for watching 👍🏻😀💯✌🏻
Editing saves hours
Looks great man.... nice upgrade for sure. ✅😎👍🏻
Thanks allot👍
These look really good
They work good tryed them today the water proof esc not so much it burnt up river crawling hopefully they replace it

what setting for axial wraith ?THX

I just got a set of this to put on my scx 10 ..what weight oil is the best or do u like the 30
I actually have them on most of my rigs now I am running only 10wt now preforms much better
Cool stuff bro 👍
Looking good brother
Thanks bro👍👍
@@AdventureTimeRC 🤙🤙🤙🤙
The dampening looks too slow, hence the bounciness. but of course they are very adjustable.
Oh yeah that was the first oil I tried I'm running 10wt now still same shocks on the same truck working great
Saw the Tom Thumb price tag. Are you on central Ohio?
Yeah lol about an hr north of Tom thumb that was my first time there i go to cyclone allot
Adventure Time RC Where did you shoot the river crawl video? Was just at cyclone yesterday. I’m 30 min south of tom thumbs.

I would of removed the bottom eyelet and pulled the shock stem threw instead of undoing the C-clip but each to their own

Just a few drops is all I use now
very cool video is oil shocks better?
Yeah they absorb much better thanks for watching my friend🚙

theres an issue the oil leaking after a month , is that true
So far so good mine don't leak and there still on my honcho and I drive it allot

That knife is definitely not the right tool 😂
You got so much air in that shock lolol
Oh definitely lol I was new to shocks then got them working like a champ now have 3 sets😅
I think your shock oil is too much hard in the news shocks 🤨🤨
Or the holes in the piston are too small
Ill give them a test i wanted them to move nice and slow for crawling over rock but you could be right thanks for watching and your comments😁👍🚙
these C clips are pissing me off i can’t mine off lol
Lol they can be a real pain so small good luck bro
These shocks are a joke, they are impossible to bleed and leak oil constantly past the shaft seals.
