This video is a perfect representation on why I love this channel. Somehow, an ant colony moving into a new tube felt like a huge event. The replete and sleeping worker gives a flash of humanity to these insects. Maybe it is anthropomorphizing just a bit, but you can see and follow the whole line of logic those ants used. It drives home for me that this colony is more than just the sum of its parts, it is a family/community to these ants, which is really amazing.

Yea almost, except for the fact that they don't notice their dead ones, and once the dead ones start releasing some chemicals then only they throw the body outside the den.
I'm already so invested in this colony, that interaction with the replete was hilarious, it really shows how intelligent ants are, I hope everything turns out okay with the mite
I was done like this by my own mother. I came home from work one day and the house was pretty much packed up. Boxes were all over, my mom sitting on the couch, I asked what's going on. She said I'm moving, I asked am I going. She said it's only a three bedroom. That ment a bedroom for her and the other brothers. I was basically told no room for you at this inn. In less than an hour after that, she came and busted the room door open and said you got five minutes to get your sh*t and get out. So at 19 with nowhere to go I was homeless once again. Isn't family great. I ended up going back to my home state, slept in my car all summer, worked two jobs and eventually got a place to stay. I eventually just had to stop all interaction with her and my life's been better. Going on 15 years without one word spoken to her.
@@voltonator7991 Nah, because times I've ended up homeless they never cared. Not a one of them has ever called or asked if I was ok, still alive, did I need anything, was I hungry, or cold. I've slept outside for two years once in -6° winters and 120 degree summers. They all have their own lives and could care less. That's the way it's always been. I just keep surviving the best I can. My grandparents were the only ones who gave any help to me. And they are gone, I stop by their grave and thank them once in a while.
I’m really happy you cut them out! Unfortunately many think they have to keep in contact..if your parents ditch you like your nothing they don’t deserve you around or your money with their retirement.
After doing some research, I think Princess Nymphae would be a nice name for the queen. Nymphs are a kind if greek deity that is strongly tied to the forest and most importantly trees. They're known for being very pretty and for turning into trees to deceive the mortals. I think it describes pretty well the carpenter ants, since, for the most part, they live inside trees and are also pretty cute.
The bit with the stubborn replete had me laughing my ass off. I never knew ants could act stubborn like that, I just thought they just dutifully did their jobs no matter what.
I tried to make a sugar-water bar for bees and hung it on tree, went to see what's happening two hours later and there were feast going on by ANTS 😂 Thought "Oh well, let them have this one" and they continued having this great food source. First days there was a huge hustle and bustle going on, now it's starting to settle down.

Btw I'm playing an ant game called planet ant, you basically make your own colony of ants and secure resources. You can also invade and raid other player's base. Think of it as something similar to clash of clans but it's ants. Pretty addictive game.
I think that, at least when you move into the new anthouse, you should create an "antiverse medical bay". This is a tank with the sole purpose of growing those mites that prey on the parasitic mites. That way, any future mite invasions can be readily solved before they become a problem!
Yup, was thinking the same thing, having those Rhinoceros beetles and giving them the gift of living to adults blessed ya in that way and is a good thing to keep as well cause of those asmis mites.
Ants seems to possess their own personalities, preferences, fears ect. They also display playfulness, celebrate and are sometimes lazy. Thus can we really say that ants are not sentient beings? Worker ants do not live very long, but time is subjective. In their point of view a couple of weeks could feel like a lifetime.
