    Great tutorial. If I might add....this same design can be a gnome or hillbilly or an elf or whatever just by changing the shape of the hat. Thanks for the video! Good job.

    Do I use the same measurement if I use a 6 inch long piece of basswood?

      It really depends on how you want the Santa to look. If you use the same measurement, your beard will be an inch longer. If you move it down to around the halfway point, it will look about the same. If you move it further down, you’ll have a taller hat. Let me know what you end up doing!

      The top of the brim is cut the same way as the bottom of the brim. I’ll include cuts like these in future videos. Thanks for the feedback!

      @@halflingcarvings I ended up doing halfway down I have trouble doing the nose, but everything looked ok.

      Awesome! The nose can be difficult. You can always try making the nose a little larger than you really want, then after you get a basic shape formed, you can carve around it to make it smaller and clean up your cuts. Hope you enjoyed carving this guy!
