Well done! I just got to the bottom of an issue I had with mine. It was starting fine and running fine except for when it came back in after a long run and then would not re-start after being off for an hour or so. It was down to the primer solenoid, it had gummed up and the elector magnet wouldn't operate it properly, it would get stuck open. After giving it a good clean and polishing the little metal bar that it operates it now opens / closes as it should! I'm hoping she'll be using less fuel too now given it must have been over fuelling with that stuck open.
Hello Tom, was there any way you can check the take over valve for a short or a fault of some kind? I find it hard to understand that signal to the take over valve just doesn’t stop working in a ECU. If it does stop working, usually the whole thing bricks up/stops working. I hope that after this new ECU the problem doesn’t come back. Check resistance, continuity and ohms on the valve. Cheers!👍🏼
@wolfparty4234 I have had the valve off and it works fine on the bench. The fault was the ground to the tickover valve. Obviously the ground pulses on and off as required to operate the valve. With the new ecu, it now has a ground, so the valve is working, however the wave form is not what I would expect. I expected a square one with the ground dragging to zero each time, at the moment I'm getting a small wave form that grounds a bit, say from 12v to 6v then off again. I have a few more tests I'm going to do but at the moment it is 90% better than it was and the valve is operating to a point at least. The engine also revs cleaner and sounds better with the new ecu, performance is no different though.
Nice job done there Tommo. As the ECU's are like hen's teeth can you get your old one reconditioned for your own future use or sale to recover some costs?
@@anotherangleUK yeah I can do. Believe it or not, buying from America was still cheaper than getting it reconditioned here. I might even try it myself because I think a diode is shot and not going to ground, causing the fault.
always nice when a fix goes to plan

Glad you sorted it mate
So far, so good 👍

@@yanafloat it will probably make a huge difference. Mine will probably use a little less fuel on start up too
Fuel maintenance is the #1 thing that keeps me busy all through the spring and summer !

Great little repair Tommo, hopefully that has done the trick, lucky to find that ECU, 🙏🛥️
