My cat had done the same thing, he was really sick during lockdown and we couldn't take him to doctor...after tolerating the pain and discomfort for as long as he could, one evening when he was really sick he went away and never came back...we knew it's because he didn't wanted to die in front of us (even sad because when I had realised that I wouldn't be able to help him I use to pray that I don't want to see him dead and have to bury him, I just wouldn't be able to do that and I guess he did that for that reason too)

You asked if it was a real story.. well it's actually based on a true incident in the director's life. Especially the last scene when he's sitting holding Charlie in her final moments. The director Kiranraj actually saved and adopted a kitten(not a dog unlike the movie) in his school days. The kitten grew up very attached to him and would wait for him on the porch every single day when he would return from school. One day the kitten, unknowingly, ingested some kind of poison when he was at school and even though it was slowly dying it still came out to wait for him. i have a dog who looks exacty like charlie. this movie was soooo hard for me to watch. the first time i tried to watch it with family, my eyes were puffy and red and i got up before the ending because i simply could not watch it. everytime i think about it i cry so hard. maybe non dog owners think it is dramatic and won't understand, but even the thought of losing my baby is sooo heart wrenching.

While watching the idli scene when dharma called the old lady i cried the most. I think this movie is way above than animal human bond. Dharma used to throw the third idli which the lady gives him ouy of love. And then dharma has to beg to get those three idlis. 😶 Rest is upto u to interpret.

The subtitles are a little messed up actually. In the end while sitting outside of the temple with Charlie, Dharma says, "If you are lucky, a dog will come into your life, only if you are lucky." Which holds a lot of emotion and meaning. Subtitles are different tho. Loved watching this gem again with you guys. 🌸

Catharsis!!! An amazing depiction of a Aristotlean style of Tragedy with the Shakespearean comic relief at the end. And Charlie fulfilled every single criteria of a great Tragic Hero, except there was no Tragic flaw at all that led to the demise of the Hero. The gentleman played a great Side-Hero, without trying slightest to seem/look like a star. Phenomenal artist. And the most important of all is the plot, storyline and direction that made it to invoke so much emotion. Very simple but yet a phenomenal piece of art. Loved it.

Trivia - "Dharmaraj in Kalyug"
In the end chapters of Mahabharata, when Pandavas & Draupadi were climbing a Himalayan mountain to accept death, a stray dog accompanied Yudhishthir. While climbing the mountain Draupadi and all his brothers left Yudhishthir by taking death, but the dog accompanied Yudhishthir to the gate of the heaven alive. When Gods came to accept Yudhishthir and told to leave the dog while entering the heaven, Yudhishthir refused to do so and didn't leave the dog. Gradually the dog took off its disguise and came to original form, Dharmaraj and pleased with Yudhishthir. Thus Yudhishthir became the one and only character of Mahabharata, who entered the Heaven alive.
Cats and dogs usually go faaar away and die (if they have enough strength left to walk) so that their parent could/should not see the dying stage of them. Also they give birth to puppies/kittens very secretively and keep them in a safe place (until their eyes get opened and can start walking on their own).

i have a dog who looks exacty like charlie. this movie was soooo hard for me to watch. the first time i tried to watch it with family, my eyes were puffy and red and i got up before the ending because i simply could not watch it. everytime i think about it i cry so hard. maybe non dog owners think it is dramatic and won't understand, but even the thought of losing my baby is sooo heart wrenching.

2:25 the title "the tale of dharmaraj in kalyug" is not just random
It's based on the story of dharmaraj (yudhisthir) in dwaparyug in after Mahabharat war, in which he refuses to enter swarg (heaven) without the dog (yamaraj in disguise)who was with him from the starting of the journey, this yug is called kaliyug hence the name

@@priyadarsh2504 He didn't beg from that Aunty. He used to always ask for two idlis, but that lady out of love would give him an extra. Which he would always waste. So now when he has to beg for the same idlis somewhere else he understood the value of it. So he called her but couldn't say anything.

The subtitles are a little messed up actually. In the end while sitting outside of the temple with Charlie, Dharma says, "If you are lucky, a dog will come into your life, only if you are lucky." Which holds a lot of emotion and meaning.
Subtitles are different tho.

Only Dharmaraj and his dog survived at last and both entered into heaven gate. At that time Dharmaraj said to Lord Indra "Heaven God" that no one from my brothers stood with me at my end path only this dog did. And he deserves to be a part of this heaven (Swarglok))

Catharsis!!! An amazing depiction of a Aristotlean style of Tragedy with the Shakespearean comic relief at the end. And Charlie fulfilled every single criteria of a great Tragic Hero, except there was no Tragic flaw at all that led to the demise of the Hero. The gentleman played a great Side-Hero, without trying slightest to seem/look like a star. Phenomenal artist. And the most important of all is the plot, storyline and direction that made it to invoke so much emotion. Very simple but yet a phenomenal piece of art. Loved it.

I took puppy to my home i kept name rocky its been 3 years my life changed. .. after watching charlie movie i got emotional i cried lot after going home hugged my rocky i do no cried.

Dharmaraj also called Yudhishthir was a character in the world 's biggest epic Mahabharata which happened in Dwaparyuga
Atlast, when he was going towards the heaven along with his brothers and wife. At path, one dog was following towards them. Actually, the dog was none other than lord Yamraj the god of death.
After all, only Dharmaraj reached the heaven along with the dog while his brothers and wife died at the way due to some sins they did in their life
While entering into heaven, lord Indra the king of heaven refused to take dog inside the heaven
Hearing this, Dharmaraj in return refused to enter the heaven because the dog was following with them and was one of the member throughout the journey so without it he can't go to heaven
Lord Yamraj came into his original form and was impressed from Dharmaraj 's honesty and judgemental. Actually, God was taking his exam whether he will succeed or not
So now, Kaliyug is started. Last stage of time
In this movie, the story is similar to those characters the magazine cover was titled as "The tale of Dharmaraj in kaliyug"
