7 years later and this great video is still helping people. Thanks so much. The amazon and wiring diagram link still work and were invaluable.
Thanks man I appreciate the comment

Thanks for the video! For all here are some tips:
BEFORE you buy a cable, cycle to aux if you can. If you hold down CD and no AUX pops up on the digital display then you cannot use an auxiliary setting. Save yourself time and frustration.
During installation DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. Remove the negative terminal, and you're good to go.
When you install the cable make sure that the metal in the prongs is completely inside the 22 pin connector. You'll be able to tell if they are properly inside if the locking mechanism snaps back smoothly or requires force. if it requires force, then something (either what you just installed or an existing cable) is not completely in the node. This will cause things to fail/not work if that's the case.
If you turn the radio off and press the power and the #1 it will send you to aux is just a different way my didnt work on just pressing and holding the CD botton
@@alexleon2019 I know this was a long time ago, but did you end up installing your aux? I have to do the same thing you do to get aux to pop up on the screen, but I have a 14 pin and 10 pin connector, not 22 and 14 as all videos and forum posts show. Maybe I can mess around with the CD player.
@@alexleon2019 thank youuuu. That first comment crushed my hopes.
@@alexleon2019 this comment is like 4 years late 4 me 😫
@@alexleon2019 thank you so fucking much oh my god
9 years later and this just helped me install this to my first car! Thanks man!
hey how much paid for car
10 years later and you just saved me $270. Thank you my guy. What a throwback to hear "plug in my ipod or mp3 player" lmao
@@Styx_ia happy to hear it's still helping people
hey man I installed the auxiliary cable today in my eclipse. works perfect no problems what so ever....thanks again bro
Got the part from Amazon and had had it done in under 15minutes. Thanks for the video!!
Thank you sooo much! I had spend a lot of money on auxiliary things you plug into the outlets, but they never worked real well for me or sounded that great. But now thanks to you me and my dad did this to my car and I love it! Thank you so much!! It never would have thought it would be that easy.
You're very welcome! I'm happy to hear it worked for you. Happy New Year!
Hey man this came in clutch today. I just bought mine a month ago and needed to know where the aux cord went. This really helped
At 1:27, I laughed my ass off when you said "Umm, lost the one here" because I dropped the exact same screw behind the AC faceplate- still haven't retrieved it!
Me too, I got pissed I just used my credit card to block the gap
lol me too
This was so fast and easy. 10 min tops from start to finish. I bought the cable from the dealership for $24 and they wanted $212 to install it. Thanks!
Timothy Maples is there a cord for the single dish radio
Timothy Maples how did u get the plastic piece off the back ?
Easy??? Lol yeah ok
Thanks to your fabulous video (clear step-by-step instructions with great audio and video quality), i was able to do this myself in 15 minutes. (I'm a middle aged female with zero automobile skills). Note: I didn't disconnect the negative battery terminal since that looked much harder on my car than executing this AUX process. While a good safety precaution, it worked ok for me without the battery step. THANK YOU!
I'm glad I was able to help!
Thanks dude, mine has an auxiliary input in the center console. Bought the car used without a manual and never would have thought to hold the CD button down. You are The Man for going through this installation while instructing and while recording!
+Mark Fritsche Thanks Mark!
thank you!! It worked!!! i didnt even have to open that white piece they slid right in and sounds amazing. you are the best found the part on amazon for around 10 :]
+Leigh Lewton Awesome!
what was the part called on amazon?
the best part about this video is that the song you played at the end is a meme right now hah. but great video i will be using if i ever get an eclipse
hahahaha this dude was playing that song before it was cool
when that song played i bout pissed myself 10/10
This video was super helpful! I bought a used car with an aux already installed but in a different area so the end of the video helped me find how to use it! Thanks so much!!!
My 2007 with the 6-disc is much happier with an aux jack. Ran it under the dash so it comes out near my front 1/4 window where I have my iPhone mount. Now I don’t have to worry about which 6 CDs I have with me when my wife and I do a road trip. Two thumbs up!
Happy to hear it helped thanks for the comment
Thanks for the video. Just Installed this to day took about 20 min with no problems
Thanks for making this. Did my install in 30 minutes. Your video really helped
Thanks Noah! I'm happy the video helped!
Thanks for sharing this video man, I've been looking for a video that explains how to do this for quite some time. I have an 08 but much of an 08 eclipse is the same as an 07. You're the man!
8 years later still helping!
Who would have thought? Happy the video has helped so many! Cheers!
excellent video man this is just what i was looking for
I know you posted this videos YEARS ago, but I recently got my 2007 special edition Mitsubishi Eclipse, first bought the part that was the white little box for all the cables. NEWBEE. and now just am buying the cable you have linked. I plan on using your video to help me install my AUX port. fingers crossed for this chick. I will report back on how it goes. overall I have faith and thank you for this video. I was SO UPSET that it didnt have an AUX port but has a setting for it? so I searched online on how to install and your video is the first one! I CANNOT WAIT TO TRY THIS AND HOPEFULLY SUCCEED AND BE ABLE TO PLAY MUSIC FROM MY PHONE!!!!!
Good luck and make sure to check out the comments below from all the other people who have contributed their tips and tricks.
First off, thanks for the awesome video man! I just installed an AUX cable in my '07 Eclipse and I could not thank you enough. Second, I know this video was posted almost 5 years ago but I recently bought a 2007 Eclipse GT and I love it. I just added an AUX cable to my car using this video but I also used another product in unison with the stuff in this video to create an AUX PORT in my dash. It actually looks hecka clean and looks much slicker than just having an AUX cord dangle around in the car. I don't know if it'll be marked spam if I post the link here so just PM me for the details. Thanks for the awesome video again man, just figured I'd mention something for a cleaner finish in case anyone was interested :)
Yeah, try posting here. We'd like to see it!

There is a button on the backside of the steering wheel on the right side that switches through the functions CD,AUX, fm/am so you and scroll through while driving without taking your hand off the wheel. And thanks for the vid it's solves two of my problems that I have with mine
Awesome Tip Raven! Glad the video helped!
Thank you!!!!!! I finally got it in today and it works great!
You are the man! Been trying to figure this out for years lol
Thanks happy you were able to get it to work!
Awesome thanks for the video. My car actually came with an iPod chord but I haven't been able to figure out how to turn on auxiliary!! Hope it works!!
Thank you so much! Coming from a young lady. I finally have an aux in my car after 10 years lol! I have an Eclipse 2007
ruby castillo lol what city are you from??
Dragon749 bruh
Just placed a order on the cord can’t wait to see if it works!
Another successful install, thanks to this video! A couple comments, though: The link to the diagram is no longer working, and when I was looking at the file I downloaded a week or so ago I noticed it was not the same as the one you use in this video. But thankfully I was able to pause it when you showed yours and figure it out. Also, the wiring harness retainer was really hard to pry open- no wonder you left that part out of the video LOL. I bent it up really good because I thought it was supposed to come completely off. It's a miracle I was able to fit the terminals back in it and get it working!
Happy to hear you got it working. Unfortunately, I wasn't hosting the file and was just redirecting people. I'm glad you were able to view the diagram from the video, thank you 1080p! The wiring harness sure was a pain to get open I needed to use two hands and tried my best to describe what I actually did when i was not filming. Hope you enjoy your new addition to the car!
Just hooked up my aux cord to my 08 eclipse gt your a god send
this just saved me like 200 bucks haha thanks man awesome video
Thanks soooooo much for your GREAT Video ---helped me get set up---thanks again for sharing
Thank you for the video. It was amazing !!! Just installed mine...just don't tell people they can use a screwdriver cuase they can't its best to use a paint thinner or knife
You're very welcome. I too had to use something thinner because the screwdriver was too thick to wedge into the opening.
Nice work. I got a kit and I'm going to give it a try.
Just did mine, Thanks Sir!!
Wow, dude, you are my best friend today. Haha! Thanks for the great video! FM transmitter equals bad, auxiliary cable equals good.
You're Welcome I'm glad the video was able to help!
Thanks. Helped a lot. Very informative
You're Welcome!
Thanks man. Good to know its not only my mom who thinks so. ha, I hope it all worked out for you.
Thanks for clear instructions. Can I ask how did you manage to fix the CD not ejecting problem? I have this e 03 for a while.
Also if you have the radio controls on the steering wheel and you use the mode button to cycle through the options it will pop up the AUX mode as well.
This works too! Great tip Wemii!
I just ordered the cable should be here shortly, I will do a followup. I own the 2008 SE, comes with the Rockford system built in, I have built in & outside around my car but I have never known about this. To be honest I was going to replace the center console to upgrade but this may have saved the console... for now..
I just installed, I can see where people are saying the kicker in the back isn't putting off any bass. Its acting as if its just a regular speaker & the bass isn't focusing. gonna see if I can look up a solution to this. However the sound is crisp & clear, like I said only problem is the bass.
Uhh.. another follow up, I did the installation about 2 hours ago. I come back out to my car & all of a sudden the bass makes me almost piss my pants.. Idk if the electronic system did a system scan or whatever the case, everything seems to be working flawless now. Bass loud music clear sounds great.
BTW drive a 2008 Eclipse SE
Just bought a 2008 Eclipse GS, thanks for this!!
So the sub did end up working? I too have the fosgate system in my car and don't want to lose the sound.
Thank you!
Classy song choice 10/10 btw great vid
Thanks Dominic!
Great video, well edited to a good time and clear presentation skills. You should be doing this as your day job dude! Not sure about In the Jungle however! ;-) Welcome to the Jungle maybe though...
Sam Haslam Thanks. Welcome to the Jungle was definitely on the ipod somewhere. I actually didn't plan which song would be playing.. I think I lucked out with 'In the Jungle' could have been much worse... ha
just fyi to everyone with this car, besides holding the cd button down you can cycle through to aux by pressing the center of the volume button behind the right side of your steering wheel. thanks for the video, im about to order what i need right now
My face plate broke off! I've been looking for a replacement. No luck - can anyone help?
Thanks for the video! Had a successful install and loving it! Did anyone have trouble with heating system after? Maybe not connected but it worked prior to install and now only blows lukewarm air or cold. Haven’t had a chance to look up where the connections are for those, but wondering if I could’ve loosened something during install.
Have you founds a custom facia plate for an after market deck? and is there anyway to still have the instrument cluster above active?
Thank u so much sir your the best 👌🏻
You're welcome. Thanks for the comment.
great video, I did this and it worked thanks a lot
Happy to hear it worked out for you
Any help? Whenever I try to plug in the Audio input It just plays a weird beeping sound and no sound plays.
does the terminal piece come off that you used to open with the paint scraper
Guys...You dont need that cable. I did this about 20 minutes ago. I clipped 3 wires off an old pc power supply that already had the connectors on it, and i bought a $6.99 stereo cable from radio shack. I clipped off one end of the cable and soldered the three wires to the left+ right+ and common ground. On the diagram, the red is right+ the white is left+ and the black is the common ground. It sounds as good as any cd with tons of bass.
@@BlueRage I think you spent too much time replying to a 7 year old comment.
Hey man I got a Edc code on my screen above where it says The time and stuff and my CD player dosnt work, my radio dosnt either.. I get 2 thumps from the speakers when I turn the car on anything you should reccommend me doing
I have a 2012 and it has a 10 piece node part does the pieces go in the same place?
This worked perfectly! I have an 09 GT and it was basically the same..thanks again!
Which models of the 4th gen eclipse come with the Aux setting when you hold down the cd button?
i got a 2008 and it doesnt come with one and i cant find the cable :(
Thank you! It really worked!!! 👍
Awesome! Glad it worked!
Hey man. Awesome video. Seriously, you're the best.
I only had one question. There are two sound packages for the Eclipse 4G. My girlfriend got the one with the premium package (it has the little sub in the back). Will this work for both?
Does it still sound the same with the Rockford fosgate in the back? Don't wanna mess any of that up
will this work with a single cd radio? cause I have the 07 Eclipse also
Do you know anything about how to filter the air for the windshield air?
Thanks man! I'm DIYing an aun to 3 pin cable but my cable only has red a white, can I do it without the black (which I think is ground?]
Do you need to shave the little black plastic holders down to like nothing? I tried cutting them almost down all the way and it still spits out my cds
Hi,
Can I use the same points and pins on the connector for Mitsubishi outlander 2007? What is the specification (name or part number of the female pin?
Thanks
Thanks buddy. Im giving it a shot.
So, where did you purchase this, and how much was it? I was thinking about getting one that I can actually plug a 3.5 mm bluetooth jack into the auxiliary itself.
Is there any such thing as a "plug in bluetooth" adapter that connects to the aux cable? Thinking of how one might possibly add bluetooth to the Eclipse and then pair it to the bluetooth on my iPhone 5S.
Will this work for a 2006 eclipse gs with rockford fosgate??
awesome... thank you so much it was so easyyyy...!!!
Maria Cidelis did you disconnect your negative terminal?
When the music started, I fell asleep shortly after for some odd reason. I saw someone who bought a bluetooth receiver (plugs into cigarette lighter) that synces up with your android/iphone and play the music thru the stereo of the car. I think that is a more practical solution but I like this too. Thanks for sharing.
Turco949 unfortunately the fuse in the cigarette lighter in the front of my center console blew so I'm down to only the one in the center storage console. I use that one to charge my phone. No any videos that show me how to fix the fuse in the cigarette lighter?
I totally understand, and what you did was arguably a better approach. The reason I watched this video was to see what my option for the stock setup. It is good that the CD player is capable of playing MP3 CDs as well as regular audio CDs but I much rather use a USB drive to play the MP3s. Secondary option would be to use my phone to store the MP3s and pair it with a receiver. Ultimate solution would be to but the console adapter I see only for about $40 which would let the owner replace the stock stereo system with a single deck/double deck unit or one with a touch screen. Of course the more high-tech the unit, higher the price ($500).
Funny thing is, I don't even own this car but I found one (2007 Eclipse v6 GT) for sale that I really liked and quite possibly will buy it. How long have you had yours, if you don't mind me asking and how do you like it?
Uh, were you asking me how to fix the fuse for the cigarette lighter or was it just a comment? If asking, isn't the cigarette lighter on that car just a fuse you can replace in the fuse box like any other car or did I misunderstand? I use a dash cam that I plug into my cigarette lighter for power and sadly, once or twice it blew the fuse and I had to replace it. It could be either due to the device being used (my case) or if the lighter was actually used and accumulated residue which might have fallen into the charger hole and cause a short or causing the device to not make good contact. The cups where the chargers go in are not that expensive and can be changed.
Turco949 not sure I never really checked. It broke awhile back and when I brought my car into the shop I just asked the guy to take care of it (thinking it was a fuse) maybe it wasn't a fuse because he told me he had to take out the entire dash to fix it.
BTW do you know which fuse it is?
Thank you so much 😄
Hey quick question, everytime i turn my mitsubishi eclipse 06 the radio and clock reset back to factory setting, what causes that
I took off the stereo of my eclipse and I couldn't put the cable on there because there were cables already there. What should I do?
I checked my hydraulic fluids levels and they’re normal, but the roof just won’t work. When I activate it to put the car roof down, it doesn’t make any sounds whatsoever. It stopped working out of nowhere. I even checked the fuses and they’re all good.
I read in the reviews for this cable that the right and left work fine, but there is no output for the sub-woofer. Is that correct, and if so, are there other options?
skrednodnarb I did not have an issue my bass seems to kick just fine.
Can't u directly connect 3 Rca cable that's connected with 3.5m peel it off and connect 2 red and white in the panel and yellow in ground will it work.?
I get that it’s helpful! I just don’t understand if you want auxiliary buy the 30 dollar bezel that allows a double din touchscreen. Or they make a single din or for 50 they’ll give you the bezel double and single din parts to mount. You’ll Bluetooth and aux your phone. Plus you can’t install a speaker system on the stock deck unless you line convert it and even then it will hook into the rear door speakers and it’ll play the subs like a set of door speakers. Obviously some bump but they don’t get loud. The tuning on the amp is only controlled by the input gain and the filters. No bass gain and can in tune thru the head unit as much as it allows so bass and treble and fade.
Do you HAVE to disconnect the battery? I don't know how to do that on my car, but I need to replace my aux cable. I don't have to change the port! Just the male piece (it got run over by the track), so I only have to pop off the front and unplug the Hazard Lights. Do i still need to unplug the battery for that?
+Allie Karma Usually, if I'm dealing with electronics, I make sure I turn the power off. If it's just the male to female connection and you are only replacing the end cable then you shouldn't have to disconnect the battery.
What if my top screen is blank only the bottom of the stereo works ?Will it still work if I press cd
thanks cant wait to try it
Will this work with my aux adapter cord connected directly to my phone???
Sup, planning on getting a 2012 model soon and I wasn’t sure if it has an aux input, so I came to check this vid out. I may try this procedure out if not, hopefully I don’t destroy the car considering I’m fairly young and inexperienced when it comes to this stuff. Anyways, nice vid and thanks for an alternative.
Hi Jayden, make sure to check the interior of the center console. Also, it may have bluetooth depending on the model.
@@DYTW Hey thanks, it seems like the model years Im looking into do have them and also a bluetooth.
Do i disconnect only the negative battery terminal or the positive one as well?
Dude, you are genius.
Thanks!
Hey man do you think it will be the same process for my 2008 Galant SE ? It does not have an auxiliary and when I called Mitsubishi they said there's no auxilary available. I have not tried calling other stores tho. The advice she gave me was to swap out the entire unit to an aftermarket. I kinda don't wanna believe because I believe there's a way to put aux in my car. Thanks
+Mark I would try to find an online community that talks about galants. I'm sure there is someone who has attempted it. Have you been able to spot any auxilary buttons? One person suggested using the steering wheel controls to cycle through FM/AM/CD/AUX that worked for me on the eclipse
can you message me the link for the instructions manual because it won't open where you posted it.
Anthony Malena just posted a new link to the instructions above
Lion sleeps tonight! Nice bro:) lol Thanks man made my day
what about sound system???can you doit with out aftermarket stereo????
Is this just a regular eclipse or a GS/GT/Spyder?
I'm having a similar problem to what Jeremy is having, got the part from the Mitsubishi dealership installed it correctly. I plug the 3.5 into the headphone jack and switch it to aux. works but there is no bass nothing but sound. When I plug in my charger it switches to phone on the display and only plays through the passenger front speaker with bass. 2006 eclipse. Rockford fosgate system. 6 disc changer. Using an iPhone 5, tried my iPad mini and my old HTC, they all do the same thing. Any thoughts?
a few people seem to be having this problem are you sure you have the connectors attached to the correct ports?
Big help, thanks.
No problem sam! Glad I was able to help you out!
"uhhmm" *thumbs up* hahahaha
Thanks, very helpful!
What was the wires called that you had purchased ?
What if I don't have the Rockford Fosgate stereo? I have the regular CD player, no 6-disc and my connector in the back isn't 22-pin, it's 10-pin. Would I still be able to use this (if you know)? I've been trying to google stuff, but can't find any answers.
I just updated the link to the pdf file above. Hopefully you can find your answer there. good luck.
Did you ever try holding the CD button to switch to Aux before doing the installation? And did the display function the same as it does now? (I have an Infiniti 6-disc instead of Rockford Fosgate and I can't get it to go into Aux mode)
Yes, I made sure it was able to switch to Aux before I attempted the installation. I know not all models have the ability to add the aux. Try looking around the web for some more info about your specific model.
DYTW Thanks for the response! Great tutorial for most models. It looks like I'm going to have to go the FM modulator route (hardwired into the FM radio).
Matthew Hoff A bit late but just a heads up. I just had this tried on my 09 and it was awful. It was about as good as an FM transmitter that you can plug into the cigarette lighter. They thought it was a bad cable, replaced the whole thing, and it was still messed. Not just when playing songs via the aux cable but also messed with my radio stations. Could have just been a fluke but it was infuriatingly terrible.
I have a 10-pin connector and I don't know where to insert the wires... Can anyone help me out?
I've only found info for the 14-pin and 22-pin connection and nothing for a 10-pin connection. Hopefully someone else may have some more information.
My 06 eclipse has a 10 pins plugin and the aux cord that I ordered don't have the instructions and when I press cd says cd load why mine is different any one experience the same
Very nice, thank you.
Did it affect your sound at all? Thanks
