To be fair, Johnny Van Zant is Ronnie's brother and he's been running this band since 1987. 37 years is a very long time my friend. I understand your feelings about the matter but would you really rather see the name die out entirely?
I think Ronny still using the name is a good thing. Might turn some youngins onto "Freebird" and some others. I think Joey Molland still uses the "Badfinger" name and they had a lot of hits. To each their own, I guess.

I grew up listening to Lynyrd Skynrd, this isn't Lynryd Synyrd...
I don't see Lynyrd Skynyrd there, just a bunch of people capitalizing on the name. No original members there.
