I personally begin reading the manga from the Red, Blue & Green chapter, but I would recommend to not start from Black & White. This is because many characters return in future chapters (kind of like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) and so it would feel nice to either start from the RBG chapter or even from the Diamond & Pearl chapter, because the immediate previous arc (Emerald arc) feels like the Avengers Endgame of the 5 previous arcs.
@@twilightsparkle75 I know, so in order to "just read" Red's journey, you have three generations worth of stories (+ORAS chapter) to read. That includes RBGY, GSC, RS, FRLG, Emerald and ORAS.
@@twilightsparkle75 Fair, but do give ORAS a try. Not only does it have a brutal story, not only does it have Ruby and Sapphire actually advance as a couple, but it also shows us Red, Green and Blue actually Mega Evolving!
Man, seeing OG Red once again brought back memories of trying to read this at my local library in the early 2000's. Yes, I am very much dating myself here. This has been on my watchlist for a while and it may be about time I restarted rereading it, mostly because I don't remember where I left off all those years ago.
The real issue with the viz translations is that they are very slow. They still haven’t finished the X/Y arc. Which is a little frustrating when everyone else is reading the first chapters of Scarlet and Violet…..
I always wanted the mangas since i was kid. But everytime i saw them at a book fair at school they were wayy... above my allowance at the time. Now that im an adult with a decent amount of cashflow. I finally jumped at the chance last christmas when i got a bonus. Bought Ruby & Sapphire (Ruby was my first Pokemon Game). Read it. Loved it. And now im currently waiting for my BW Box set to come in. My order was (RS, GS, FRLG&E, DPP). I'll probably get the original chapters at some point. But i rather just move foward. (I want to get to XY soon). I also want to pace myself. At least till SV manga is near finished to get a jump start on that.
This Is A Great Guide To Get People In The Series! Since I Did Start With The Manga When I Was Young I Didn't Had A Problem Reading It. Nice Job VeeVolt!
There really isn’t much of a difference between the different version outside of how much content they contain. The contain itself doesn’t vary just how much of it.
Great video. I literally spent an entire Sunday investigating about this saga, and since my favorite generation is Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, and as you told, it´s safe to start from there, I literally ordered 5 minutes ago the box set with a sweet discount. Thanks for the help!
How is ORAS so long before X&Y on the original timeline? It's mentioned in ORAS that the reason Blue doesn't go to Hoenn is because he's in Kalos... so I thought those arcs happened at almost the same time? Edit: Also, Gold and Silver are 13 in the Emerald arc (turning 14, since their birthays are later in the year) and Ruby is 12 while Sapphire like Gold and Silver has her birthday later in the year. In the hgss arc, Gold and Silver are 16, meaning it's 2 years after the Emerald arc, making it 3 years between rs and hgss. There are several mentions of ORAS being 5 years after the rs arc, thus making it weird that they are so close on the timeline Edit 2 : I've now relized how my my first edit makes no sense, but my initial point still stands
@ out of curiosity, could you tell me which arcs aren’t in the collector’s editions of the manga? I’m assuming X&Y aren’t either so I just wanted to know which ones I’d have to look for individually
Welp I just watch this video and after watching I have diamond and pearl and sun and moon by different artists the DP I have is from Shigekatsu Ihara and the sun and moon I have is from Tenya Yabuno. I will say still worth it but it will be a pain for me collecting wise since I’m a chronology order person
If you can, avoid viz, the chuang yi translations are better (and don’t let you down for no reason, looking at you RS arc, imagine undermining two of the heaviest emotional beats for zero reason)
I thought this was going to be like where you can find them online or where to buy them or something. Why would anyone start anywhere but the beginning? Lol that's just goofy
Some people really just don’t like Kanto all that much the first arcs good but it ain’t the best thing in the world plus all though it came out first doesn’t mean you gotta read it first that’s exactly why the diamond and pearl arc starts at 1 again because it’s not necessary to read the previous 29 arcs
Listen. Back in primary school, my library had the them up to the Emerald arc and... after that well dried up... well... I might not be a member of an evil team but let's just say the way I read the rest up to that point wasn't exactly....... legal...
Binge reading pokémon adventures is the most fun thing in the world

I don't have money and I need to find where I can read ONLY RED'S journey for Pokemon adventures
Well that is difficult beause Red's story follows throughout the firet 3 gens, or until the end of emerald.

thanks i haven't read Pokémon adventures in awhile and this is a big help
These were at my library and taught me how to read
I started from RS Chapter, and then went into FRLG, Emerald, GSC, and never got around to reading RGB/Y Arcs
Maybe you'd like to make a follow-up video on the differences between the volumes, mini volumes, and collector's edition?
There really isn’t much of a difference between the different version outside of how much content they contain. The contain itself doesn’t vary just how much of it.
I personally like to buy the box sets. My next stop is the DPP arc
My first arc was Ruby and Sapphire, hands down my favorite arc especially since they're my first games

Is the ORAS arc in the collectors edition of the manga, or would I have to buy those volumes separately?
