I spent over an hour not getting the bolt in until I read your tip about using the jack and got it in right away. This was an aftermarket wishbone. I did the other side a week later using a different brand of aftermarket wishbone and the bolt went right in.
Great advice! Getting the bolt to align was very fiddly but this video was spot on with the suggested technique. Worked on my focus 1.6tdci 109hp 2009. Thank you for posting this video. It was a huge help!
Also if you get a grinder on the rivets holding the ball joint they grind off and knock out. the ball joint will come out and it's replaceable you can replace the rivets with nuts and bolts.ive done this on a mondeo.
I changed mine no problems just awkward to undo the long bolt hardly no room to undo the bolt.problem is replacing these wishbones destroys your front wheel alignment and I had to pay to have the tracking reset.the non ford parts are cheaper but seem to be a diffrent size. can you not just replace the bushes and keep the wishbone? I used to just replace the bushes in the wishbones on the mondeos I've had over the years they knock out and you could buy just the bushes it's hard to knock they in.i used a short 8 inch approx bit of steel scaffold tube it fits over the bush and a big masonry lump hammer hard to do but it's cheaper than buying the whole thing you could buy just the 2 bushes in ford's. I also found the cheap non ford bushes ripped apart after a few months.and wernt worth investing money buying them.dont know about the focus if you can just buy the bushes.but thanks for the video it's helpfull.
☝️The mistake many other people make is that your car should not be on one side of the jack, but both sides on the jack. The second mistake is due to the pressure exerted by the stabilizer and its rod on the springs and the navel of the wheel, so both sides of the car must be hung! When opening the first you have to let go of the steering wheel, secondly open the top of the stabilizer which does not put pressure on the wheel axle, if you change everything from the bottom you go back the same way unless pressure is applied to the navel and the feather May be. And everything is connected under tilt pressure. Let me give you an example, suppose you go to a tailor to design a pair of trousers for you, then your leg will be measured. Ask!? Is the other side of your body exactly the same size as your other leg? Yes !? Now suppose you take off one of your shoes, will it no longer be !? Is there no pressure on your pelvis? Are you skewed? It will be just like a car.😉
hey nice video. always line up the long bolt first. but getting it done is what matters

Sorry for late reply, but yes the after market will not be as good as a genuine one.

I was there for ages one day trying to get that bolt in and my dad came along and used a pointed bar to get it to line up.
