If we fixed our infrastructure like the Dutch did in the 90s we wouldn’t have nearly so much confusion, fear, hostility from drivers to bikers and bikers to drivers

Now ... tell the TRUTH -- bikers RARELY follow the rules (although I am more familiar with the U of MN than anywhere else). They go through RED LIGHTS, try to squeeze between cars making turns, ride two abreast in traffic, never seem to stop at stop signs, and rarely - if ever - signal! How many violations are given to bicyclists per year and where at?? I'm guessing the number is very low, because even the cops let them get away with it

I was hit by a 🚲 that had no reflective gear, no light, and he was wearing a dark hoody. I was turning left (Green light) and was entering the intersection to get onto the interstate when the 🚲 slammed into my car. He was not in a crosswalk. I was issued a citation for failure to yield ROW??? I'm fighting it in court. 4000k in damage to my car. Does anyone know the laws for bicyclist who are riding without lights at night?

No reflective gear as in the bike had no reflectors, or the person wasn't wearing reflective clothing?

Once again car drivers must yield the right-of-way to all pedestrians and bicyclists.
regardless if you can barely see them or not. do you think that pedestrians need to wear blinking lights on the back of their butts and lights in front of their foreheads no
Do I agree I think bicyclist should have front lights and blinkers on the front and back of his bicycle and reflectors as that is mandatory for bicycles to have
      Yes.
But in the end car drivers are the one that is most hold accountable because of the fact you did not yield to pedestrians and bicyclist and unlike a car driver bicyclists and pedestrians can actually end up getting killed pretty easily with very little effort.
And 99% of all traffic accidents that involves with pedestrians and bicyclist are always caused by a car drivers recklessness or road rage or not paying attention on the Road.
so yes they hold you much more accountable because Of these reasons that I just mentioned. And because you are going speeds that they are not and you got a vehicle that is way over 3,000 lb going 60 to 100 mph on the road way. That could easily snap and break the bones and every part of the human body with just little effort I've heard people even die from getting hit by a car only going 25 mph and that's slow for cars.
I've had car drivers that almost hit me on my bicycle and run me off the road during the day even though. I'm falling every bit of the traffic law for bicyclist.
like being on the right hand shoulder of the road and going with the flow of traffic and not being in the middle of the road or holding up traffic. Stops at stop signs and things like that.
They still run over me. because they're on their phone or the not paying attention or because they don't think I should be on the road so they just run me off the road.
and car drivers will always just summoned it up as its the bicyclist or pedestrians fault when it isn't.
In fact the most dangerous part of the road I've been on is a crosswalk. where or at least 70% of the time on a crosswalk when I'm crossing the street as a pedestrian and I have the right away.
I'll have car drivers that irresponsibly and recklessly almost hit me. especially when they don't have the right way to make a turn and almost hit me on the crosswalk. If I was only a couple inches or fts in front of me, I would have gotten hit and probably severely injured or killed.
Take responsibility for your own recklessness and irresponsible driving and learn the next time.
It is the law for you to yield to pedestrians or bicyclist regardless what time of day or night. There is no exceptions.

So my question is, in a non comercial area, if there is a sidewalk, are they supposed to use it?

No. In general, unless you're a kid or you're going pretty much at a walking/jogging speed...best practice is to ride on the road. You're not legally prohibited from doing so, but it's not recommended.

Just generally, sidewalks are not safe for both bikes and pedestrians.
If I'm riding my bike at 20 mph and granny or a kid accidentally step the wrong way, that's quite a collision and risk of broken bones or worse for all concerned. And I'm 6'6 and no lightweight.
If you are using a bicycle for transport or commuting you are not going to be just ambling along on it at 5 mph.
It's another legitimate vehicle and respect, courtesy and safety needs to be given by every road user. I own a car and I'm a delivery driver for a living.
