Well done, you fiddled and got some decent tones out of the Behringer Reverb. But it's just silly the $600CAD amp couldn't manage what the $20 pedal could. I wonder how the Donner Reverb pedals compare.

In the end, it can be used, but sparingly. I have a bit of the same fine tuning issue with Twiggy Blues 4 in 1 pedal, but it can be done!

I have a Reverb Machine RV-600 that was a lot of fun to play with. I could get some really weird "outer space" sounds with it, but I started using it less frequently and now it is off my pedal board.
The low price of Behringer stuff makes it easy to take a chance on, and I have never had a quality issue with any of it.

I had a RV600 which you could get some amazing sounds out of but the controls were very flaky and ultimately I got rid of it. I wish I'd kept it now!

@@stevesmith3990 I still have mine, and I actually only used it for one song on stage.
I don't know why, but I decided that some really haunting long-trail echoes would go well with "Dust in The Wind," so that was its role on my pedal board.

Reverb seems to be the one thing you really can't "cheap out" on. I love cheap pedals though and I think behringers analog delay and fuzz are very good sounding.

Friend of mine bought one of these and sent it back the same day it arrived - never heard it myself until now but that is awful sounding. No issue with "cheap" pedals but Behringer don't seem to have their pedal game up to the level of some of the equally cheap Chinese pedals. I think I paid maybe a fiver more for a Mooer Skyverb and it's been perfectly brilliant with 3 distinct reverbs that do not sound anywhere near as abysmal as the sounds John is getting from his pedal. Yeah it's not up there with the Strymons or other top of the range units but if it sounds good then I'd rather just play guitar than get nit-picky or snobby about it. Real pity about Behninger pedals as I love their UMC404 recording interface which is well made and not had a problem with it in over four years of use recording with Logic Pro on a cheap, old mac computer.

I have the DR600 and the settings you settled on are the same settings that I use. In particular, set the level around "18%". I may fiddle with time and tone to taste. Generally, I only want a room effect (I am not a "plate" or "spring" user). Effectively, just a little "wet" to throw at the back of the chain, in stereo of course.
I can't see spending upwards of $200 or double on those "luscious" reverb / ambience pedals, unless that was the sound I would be going for - which is not the case.
Suffice to say, I have freed up a block on my pod-go for other things (compressor, boost, drive, delay, bias-trem and so forth).
I am current working on an acoustic piece and I am using the DR600 hall effect, but keeping the level below 20%.

If the pedal is going in the front of the amp it might be that the classic gain channel is effecting the reverb. A bit like putting it before an overdrive. Try putting it in the effects loop of the dsl1. Unless of course you were cheers

I bought one about 1 year ago. I used about 4 times then it developed an intermittent power problem. I resoldered every joint on the circuit board around the socket to no avail. And being plastic I was expecting the casing to break first.

Their RV-600 is a nice reverb pedal if you can find one. Another great affordable and useable reverb is the Donner Revecho, that has a tap tempo delay as well.

Seems the basic issue is that dirtier tones seem to generally prefer to be drier and cleaner tones tend to sound better wetter. Using the guitar volume to adjust the overdrive as you do seems to do exactly the opposite of what you want the reverb to do.
I deal w this problem by running my Marshall dry and adding reverb w a pedal for clean sounds. I often use the very affordable Sonicake “sonic ambiance” reverb + delay mini pedal since I often want to add those two together and I can get em both with one footswitch. 4 styles of verb and 4 of delay plus tap tempo. $50. 👍

I've got one I bought donkeys agp when I had a champ 600 w/out verb , it's kinda horrible, but better than nowt - main thing is that it has the brightest led I've ever seen , like looking at a blue sun

LOL - by 6.30, all the reverb types they all sound the same. And I love your deadpan reaction. Finally you worked, the Level and Tone knobs are way too severe. Good test and interest resolve. That was insightful. Good work John. Love your guitar.

Ehh. For the money it's an alternative. I bought one to add to my Orange Rocker 32 as it does not come with reverb. I've always been stingy with the Reverb settings anyway. I just want enough reverb to add a little bit of space and depth to the sound. This works for me.

Less is definitely more when it comes to pedals. Disappointing - I have tried other cheap Behringer pedals and they are not bad (didn't try this one). I will stick with the Sonicake Sonic Ambience reverb/delay pedal for all of my shoegaze requirements!

  • @dw7704
    @dw7704 2 роки тому

I’ve never tried one of those & I haven’t tried every Behringer pedal, but every one I have tried was noisy, and the ones where latency &/or tracking matter, they weren’t that good.
So I tend to leave them alone.
I do have a reverb pedal I got for $50+, and it does simple reverb well enough.
Still I am considering buying a better one down the line.

The marshal dsl 1 clean Chanel isn’t that clean. Maybe going through like fender 5w champ would give it a better representation . Just a thought.

Not an incredibly versatile pedal, but I know some Shoegaze bands that sound exactly like this thing.

Lmfao the cheapness of the pedal started at the 5 min mark. All the settings seem to sound exactly the same lmao thx for making my mind up for me and convincing me to go with the Joyo Atmosphere reverb pedal. Good review man!

I'm wondering what would happen if you changed that level pot for one of say half the value. I imagine you might get a much finer control of the amount of reverb. For £20 it's worth the experimentation, if you're handy with a soldering iron.

Behringer pedals are good quality , but have found the Flama Eckoverb to be a good reverb& delay pedal in one box

You're playing rock in a pub or a club, the drummer's a bit extravert on the cymbals and everybody just wants to be heard, including half the audience. Nobody knows nor cares what reverb unit and setting the guitar player is using. He has spent £hundreds on a Strymon Galactiverb mk. 3 but knows he might just as well have brought his kid brother's DR600 for all the difference it makes.

Crikey! How did you manage to make it sound so bad, must be your amp!

  • @mrslowly9985

Got one of them! I find to tell the difference between all the different modes, you need to have the tone quite high. You missed a trick tho, on modulate turn level and time all the way up- now with chords and volume swells you get a lovely chorus effect.

when i first brought this pedal i thought eew but if you play around with it you can some pretty usefull reverbs, they should have listened to a rv6 reverb or have a button for normal reverb or beheringer reverb, they do make some great other pedals including a reverb machine pedal .

Can you do some evaluation of the stereo aspect of this pedal? In particular, is there any channel separation? Would a ping-pong delay survive the reverb? What if you put different signals into each channel?

Awesome Demo/Review as always, Thankyou. I have built a Behringer Pedal Board using 2nd hand bargain Behringer Pedals. Using Comp/sustainer(CS400), pre-amp Booster(PB100), Spectrum Enhancer(SE200), OD/Dist(OD100), Multi-FX(FX100), and Vintage Delay(VD400). Searching for this Reverb to complete and your demo has helped, I have been very happy with all The Behringer Pedals. Cheers

Sounds actually quite usable, thanks for the demo.
When digital reverbs became available in early eighties, at an affordable price... it was still at around 600+ USD, that's what i paid for my first "Vestafire" Reverb, the others were alesis midiverbs. Until then Digital delays were used for a room effect by me, the quite excellent "Deltalab" delay 1000ms at approx 350 USD.
And the spring reverb of my Fender super reverb amp back then, grudgingly. Which is now kind of the rage these days, a spring reverb - really?!
Alright for some guitar sounds as intended yes, but apart from that rather unusable. We hated the sound of these and were grateful for the first digital reverbs.
Today this stuff costs next to nothing.
Want a good reverb pedal, try the digitech stuff, they do use genuine Lexicon chips and deliver deep long reverbs at approx 150 quit. Many other good competitors in around the 50 to 150 range.
Wish we had this plethora of stuff at these low cost levels back in the eighties, some comments simply do not realise nor appreciate, what is at their hands today.

@walt rohrbach I agree on how good the Digitech pedals with onboard Lexicon chips are. I reguarly use my Digitech RP360 (multi fx) pedal
for a few different sounds in stomp mode, the range of reverbs and delays are all pretty good, usable and tweakable.
