Firing is first at regular speed, then slowed to 1/8 speed. That's actually 14 balls per second, well above the advertised 8! Also averaging a bit above the advertised 200fps, as well.

Would you say it’s Better than splatRball?
That's hard to say. I like it more than the original Splatrball ones, and it seems to be a bit more consistent. Plus the default magazine holds more, and is $5 cheaper for extra ones. But the SRB400 is a less expensive blaster to start, and has the extra large drum magazine options if you buy separately or have one from the SRB1200 kit.
I think it'll come down to just personal appeal, plus how many of the blasters and/or magazines you plan on getting.
I know @americanfoam got to actually have gel blaster rounds at a Nerf war this past weekend, so his channel might be better to ask, once he gets those reviews up. He's been doing things with those longer than I have.
Sorry if that's not helpful! It's just not a clear-cut decision to me right now.
Does it hurt?
it stings for sure got mine a few days ago, use it for my gel blaster wars I got in my school. they leave welts and can hurt from close range up to long range but obviously the further away you are the less it hurts. great gun non the less, plus for the price you can't go wrong.

Thought it was airsoft.
It looks like a fruit roll up. I personally would like for it to look identical to the nebula. The Color scheme almost makes it look like it could be a real gun that was hydro dipped pun intended.
